This poor book has sat on my Kindle for so very long at this point. I've picked it up and lost interest more times than I can count. I recently forced myself to get through it and I'm so unhappy I did. This wasn't for me. I could not get into it no matter how hard I tried. The plot summery sold me but the authors writing was just not my style.

This has been on my NetGalley shelf for over a year, and I still haven’t picked it up. I've tried, but it just isn't for me (right now). I hope other people enjoy it more than I did.

The Trials of Adeline Turner had me interested due to the plot summary however; I had a difficult time reading due to the author's writing style. More action and character growth would have lead me to further enjoy this novel.

I was ready for Terry's next book as soon as I finished Charming Falls Apart so I was excited for this book!

The Trials of Adeline Turner is a quick and sweet Rom-Com exploring what it means to find "the one." Her dating trials and tribulations were all too familiar to anyone chronically single and I enjoyed Adeline's character development and growth.

I loved this debut novel! Angela Adeline is such a likable character, abruptly relocating and coping professionally and personally as well as coming to terms with her own relationship with her estranged mother. Angela Terry has an authentic voice and completely captures a particular time in life of confusion and growth.

Highly recommend and look forward to more from this author!

Firstly I should like to thank NetGalley and Girl Friday Books for providing me with an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

I gave this 4.5 stars rounded down to 4. I so wish we could give half star ratings. I loved the book and the writing. I have to confess it took a few chapters for me to get right into it but once I did I couldn't put the book down.

I felt myself in Chicago and San Francisco and I felt like I was in the rooms watching this all play out. The characters felt familiar and real. Even the ones I didn't care for. The story was great and I was laughing and crying along with it. Addeline was a wonderful female protagonist. Her reactions and side comments were priceless. I think that we might all have a little Addeline in us. She was easy to relate to....whichever side of her you could see yourself as.

The romance wasn't too much and neither was the drama. It all came together for me to make a wonderful read. Not having read Angela Terry's debut novel this was my introduction to her and I know I shall be reading other books of hers.

Would I recommend this? Absolutely since it was hard not to love it once I got into it and I hope that those who enjoy romance, drama, comedy, family situations and a lot more besides will add this to their want to read lists.

Again thank you to NetGalley and Girl Friday Books for providing me with my advanced copy and I was very happy to share my honest opinions.

This book was very promising to begin with. I wanted more of a romance aspect but it's more women's fiction.

The storyline focuses on Adeline discovering herself and trying to overcome her little crush on a former friend. There's friendship, work drama, rising tensions, making amends, drunken nights out and much more complications in Adeline's life.

The book was written well, it just felt a little dragged at times. I was also disappointed with a particular aspect of the storyline that I wish happened differently. Overall it was decent, would recommend if you like books about women discovering themselves who are work-focused.

Charming story with fun characters, you’ll want to know what happens to Adeline next. Great locations in Chicago and California.

DNF 51%
Okay, so at the start it seemed interesting but i fell off around 20%, but i thought to try more before giving up. But when i ended up skimming from 40-50% it was time to call it quits. Adeline was sort of interesting at first, but i felt she tried to hard in a way. It was too much unessesary plot that was going on. I ended up not liking her and the side characters were there only to "help" or "tell" and the whole deal with Elena didn`t sit right with me.

This book was fun, uplifting, cute and all together an enjoyable read.

The message of the book was great and I liked the plot as well as getting to know the characters throughout the novel.

I do however feel that it did move quite slow and through the middle of the book it felt slightly dragged out. It picked up toward the end though.

I’m not sure how to feel about the ending because I like it but also kind of don’t. I did however appreciate what the author did there.

For some reason, I found myself reading a lot of workaholic lawyer books recently. This book follows Adeline, or Addie, who does not have a personal life. But that all changes when she moves across the country to San Francisco. I found this book enjoyable and easy to read. It made me laugh a couple of times, and it was really easy to picture both Chicago and San Fran as I was reading. 4 stars!

Give me a delightful heroine, an engaging journey of self-discovery, and a healthy dose of romance and I’ll give you my undivided attention. That’s exactly what happened when I picked up Angela Terry’s new novel, The Trials of Adeline Turner.

The Trials of Adeline Turner introduces us to the warm and witty title character as she navigates her career, a new city, and her love life. Thirty-three-year-old Adeline has always played it safe, from her nose-to-the-grindstone career as a corporate attorney to her stable, secure life in Chicago. When a competitive project at her firm transplants her to San Francisco, Adeline seizes the opportunity to break out of her comfort zone—meeting new people, forging friendships, and possibly reconnecting with her high school crush. But between a potential saboteur at work, the awkward roller coaster of online dating, and the old wounds she has tried her best to move past, a fresh start may prove to be more challenging than this overachiever expected.

I’m always craving those delicious slice-of-life tales of women finding their way through new friendships, work drama, and the complex world of dating, and The Trials of Adeline Turner perfectly satisfied that sweet spot. Angela Terry’s writing is fresh, funny, and sharp, and in Adeline, she has created a character that I not only rooted and felt for, but that I wanted to hang out with. Like Adeline, I never knew what was going to happen, and through all of the ups and downs, I just loved being along for the ride.

If you’re looking for a book about finding your way, coming to terms with the past, and braving the way towards a new future, don’t miss out on The Trials of Adeline Turner.

A great read.
Adeline moves from Chicago to San Francisco for work. She starts to date more, but who will she end up with? Trying to negotiate relationships, she realises that she needs to sort out her issues with her mother, who she hasn't seen for many years.

Adeline's career is on track to making partner when she impresses a huge client, yet her love life has suffered until a chance meeting with her high school crush takes a turn when he confesses to having liked her too. A powerful night together soon turns confusing when he reveals a secret that has her doubting her choices. This begins a domino effect of second guessing everthing and everyone. Totally relatable in one way or another and it surprised me to find that I wasn't sure who was toxic and who wasn't. A great read of misunderstandings, hope and disappointment. I think we've all experienced some Adeline at some point or at least knew someone who did. Keeps you going til the end to find out the answers but worth it.
I received an advanced copy of this book from Netgalley for my honest opinion.

I had a hard time staying interested in this book.

Adeline Turners personal and professional lives become messily intertwined as she attempts to navigate obstacles in both.

At first I was drawn into the story. Setup as a light rom-com I was in it for the long haul. Unfortunately, Adelines first romantic interest is along the lines of insta-love which I’m not a huge fan of. Furthermore, there is a “crazy women” aspect of the storyline I was majorly rolling my eyes at very early on.

I saw some reviews that mentioned this story resembling Eat, Pray, Love. I didn’t get those vibes at all. Honestly, that was the main reason I kept reading because I was waiting for it to kick in but it never did for me.

That being said, this is a nice light story full of romance and drama. If you’re not thrown off by insta-love and “crazy” women then this book may work better for you than it did for me!

Finished The Trials of Adeline Turner by Angela Terry and had a great time with this one!!!

The story follows 33 year old Adeline as she navigates life and all its complications. I found her to be a very relatable character, it was easy to connect with her and her internal monologue had me chuckling throughout the whole book.

She’s a career driven kind of woman and doesn’t have the best of luck when choosing the men she dates, but I appreciated seeing this side of her story too. I loved how in order to stop life from just happening to her, she learns to speak up her mind and take matters into her own hands.

I also enjoyed reading about her relationship with her best friend Bridget and the new people in her life in San Francisco.

The writing was fast-paced, fun to read and overall, I’d recommend this one to anyone looking for a fun closed door romcom that is out next Tuesday (10/19)!!

The Trials of Adeline Turner is a fast-paced, fun and drama-filled romance. Addie is a 33-year-old lawyer who, after a chance encounter with her high school crush and landing a new client, decides to uproot her life and move from Chicago to San Francisco. Add in some shady office antics, a motherly reconnection and some interesting romantic situations and you have The Trials of Adeline Turner.

Terry has a very easygoing writing style, so it's easy to get sucked into the story. Addie was a likeable and relatable character, with flaws like the rest of us! Terry's former life as an attorney is also evident throughout the book, but her use of terminology was very easy to follow. She's also created a great cast of characters, but I particularly liked Bridget's humour and honesty.

However, I did think the pacing was slightly off, as a lot of big developments happened at the end that felt rushed and kind of interrupted the book's steady flow. But otherwise, if you're looking for a fun romance novel with a dash of drama, check out The Trials of Adeline Turner.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for this honest review.

Heavy sigh. There was such promise in the premise of Angela Terry's THE TRIALS OF ADELINE TURNER: youngish attorney runs into her high school crush and through a series of circumstances (and an exceptionally small world), they wind up having to work with another and through who they have become between high school and their early thirties. I labored through it, even though it was exceptionally light and fluffy and repetitive. I gave up reading just short of the halfway mark when I realized that the tangles and kerfuffles and false issues were not getting any better -- and many seemed to be getting even worse as the book was drawing toward its end. So, in sum, great premise, but the ultimate story did not work for me. I received an advance copy of this novel and this review is entirely voluntary and unbiased.

3 1/2 stars...

This book was a light and easy rom-com read. There weren't any extremely serious topics. However, there were some life events that had dramatically impacted Adeline as a child and ended up affecting how she lived her adult life. I liked Adeline's character. She was relatable and I felt for her with the difficulty in finding a balance between work and a personal life.

My opinion on the book was mixed. I didn't like the way a few plot lines went. I felt like they were incomplete with little explanation. I also didn't care for the way one character was handled over the course of the story. I believe the story could have been stronger with more detail and some plot tweaks. It would have helped me to feel more connected to the characters and the story, in general. But it's all personal opinion. That said, I still liked the message of the book - - to prioritize yourself and live your life without apology. At least that's what I took away from it.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I voluntarily chose to review it and the opinions contained within are my own.

THE TRIALS OF ADELINE TURNER is on shelves! I really enjoyed this fun and super relatable story about a thirty-something year old who is all about work and no play. That is, until a series of unique events steer here into a chance encounter with her high school crush. After said encounter, predictable, safe Adeline makes the bold decision to move to San Francisco, where she has the opportunity to lead a new project that could catapult her career into partner with her firm. It will also lead to messy romantic situations and a whirlwind life that Adeline could not have predicted.

I thought about it and I don’t think I’ve ever met an Adeline, someone who is content with work, work, work and no time for fun. This character was hard to relate to in the beginning because she lived a predictable life. When she runs into an old crush from her hometown, she kind of does a 180 and turns into a risk taker overnight, pushing boundaries, taking chances and even letting a little romance in. Who was this girl? I liked her! Through work drama, boy problems and getting settled in a new city, I could relate to this new Adeline and was rooting for her success.
