Addeline Turner is a lawyer in Chicago, but while on a trip to California runs into an old crush Brad and rekindle the feelings they had in high school. When she does so well at work they ask her to move to San Francisco. its an offer she cannot refuse, but when she starts her new life, she needs a distraction to get over Brad who isn't all what she remembered and make a new life, new friends, new boyfriend, and new coworkers. A bit messy and a bit mysterious this book felt super relatable to real life. It was cute, but not anything exciting or page turning. It felt more like a diary than a story. We spent so much time on Brad and Evan and then in the last chapter all of a sudden here comes Mark and then a switch flips and its like the end thats all! I did enjoy the bit of mystery on who was trying to sabotage Addies career though. I think this would have worked much better as a mystery The title and cover don't really fit the rom-com genre but more-so a mystery.

Thanks for the advanced reader copy, this was a fun romance story, several parts felt predictable, but I think that comes along with the safe storylines that come along with romance novels. It got a bit slow about 1/3 of the way through and I struggled to keep going, but was determined to finish. The last few chapters picked back up and I was glad I took the time to finish the story.

This was an entertaining, well-written book. It was a fast-paced, lighthearted romance that held my interest. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others.

I appreciate the publishers sending me this book in exchange for my honest review. The Trials of Adeline Turner is a light and easy rom-com. I enjoyed that the main character, Adaeline, and I are roughly the same age so it was fun to "get to know" her. I love a happy ending romance book and this one delivered!

The Trials of Adeline Turner is a light and easy Rom-Com
The story follows the very likeable thirty-three year old Adeline as she navigates her life. Thinking that if she wants to find 'the one' she needs to get out and date. After joining a dating app she goes on a few not so great dates but when she does start seeing someone seriously she always seems to be the one not committing.

Adeline is a career driven woman but would also like to find that special someone. Adeline goes through many ups and downs as she reconnects with her high school crush, is sabotaged at work right when she was due for a promotion, reaches out to the mother she hasn't seen for twenty-one years and realises 'the one' might be the person right in front of you.

I really enjoyed reading The Trials of Adeline Turner and following Adeline's growth and reconciliation with her past. The story line was rather predictable but isn't that what you want from a romance read? Happy endings guaranteed!

My rating 3.5 / 5 ⭐⭐⭐½

First book I've read by this author. This book is worth the read. I did think it started a bit slow but once it picks up, it's very good. I enjoyed the last third the most. Adeline is a very likable character who makes mistakes but doesn't make you cringe or angry. I can relate to her on some levels when it comes to feeling trapped or like your life isn't going anywhere. So much is goes on in her work + life situation and she doesn't know who to trust but she figures out the answer has been in front of her all along. I recommend this to anyone who feels like they're stuck in any situation (work or personal), especially those of us turning thirty or already in our thirties.
I'm excited to read more by this author.

Unfortunately for me I was not able to go to press the 25% mark. I cannot put my finger on what was wrong -I don't know if it was the pace or the dialogue that was lacking content. I talked to someone who has read the book and they told me that they found the book was slow paced and that everything was happening at the end but in my opinion I felt like they were lacking some descriptive and the characters had there meet cue in the first few chapters.

The blurb was exciting, but the story just felt meh.

The Trials of Adeline Turner was a breezy romance novel that was easy enough to read and digest. We first get to know Adeline (or Addie) as she evaluates her life in Chicago (especially after a run-in with a childhood love interest). As she moves to San Francisco for a stellar job opportunities, pieces start to move quite quickly and threaten to topple over. I guess the title aptly describes the novel. I loved getting to know Addie and her trials an tribulations. I also really enjoyed quite a few of the side-characters (looking at you Bridget and Mark!).

I found the pacing of the book to be a bit difficult. It has a slow-start, with most of the action and twisty turns packed into the last 20 or so per cent of the book. I also felt that, while the characters were all supposed to be in their mid-thirties, many of their actions and reactions to certain situations were more of an early to mid-twenties kind of vibe (and at times a bit superficial).

All in all this was an okay romance novel. But besides the romance there are also storylines of loss and acceptance and ultimately forgiveness. It is about the importance of taking the time to find out what it is you really want in life (independent of what others might want from/for you). It is about breaking away from those that do not support you in that quest. The Trials of Adeline Turner has many more layers to discover and think on.

↳ ARC kindly provided by the publisher Girl Friday Books and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thanks!

At first, I had a few expectations about this book. The cover is gorgeous and the synopsis left me intrigued, so I was happy to hear that I had received an ARC.
The book is centered on the life of Adeline Turner, a lawyer in her 30s about to become a partner in the firm she works. We learn a lot about her past and how that influenced her present and her decisions, specially love-wise. It was actually fun to read about her life and how she decided to face various everyday problems.
The story sure had many layers that helped me to understand who was Adeline and what were her desires and dreams. On the other hand, what I thought was odd was the fact that, after the first few pages, the book fell in a slurred pace, not at all what I thought the book would offer.
The secondary characters were enjoyable but they also seemed to appear out of nowhere only to help Adeline (or to just hear her). I really missed more development and linearity, seeing that they just seemed to orbit around the heroine. I know that's sort of the point with Adeline being the main character, but they had potential beyond having a personality entired based in the heroine's life.
The plot itself at first surprised me, but after the first 50% of the book everything seemed to be thrown together. It barely had any development in my opinion, which did bother me. Specifically speaking, the ending was pretty convenient and it lacked support that was supposed to exist in the previous pages of the book.
I can't lie and say that I thoroughly liked this book because the absence of development and linearity really threw me off, but it wasn't a heinous book. I totally enjoyed reading about the aspects of a law firm and what the job entails. I don't know the first thing about it so it was really cool. I read the book way quicker than I thought I would and The Trials of Adeline Turner turned out to be good to pass the time.
If you're into books with strong heroines, you should give this one a chance. The overall lesson about not settling for less than you deserve and to pursuit what you truly want was really nice.

I loved Angela Terry's debut Charming Falls Apart, and I was excited to get an advance copy of The Trials of Adeline Turner, and I really enjoyed it. Adeline, a lawyer working with a firm in Chicago before a project she is working on takes her to San Francisco was an extremely likable character. As someone who is in their 30s like Adeline and searching for love, those scenes were incredibly relatable. I also loved that Terry built a character that wanted to be successful in her career, but also have a successful relationship as well, because we don't have to choose one over the other, we can have it all. The ending worked out in the direction I was hoping it was going to go in, the only thing is I wish there were a few more pages devoted to it.

I was excited to receive an advanced copy of The Trials of Adeline Turner, as I really enjoyed Angela Terry's debut novel last year. Her sophomore novel is just as enjoyable as her debut and kept me engaged the entire time. It's an easygoing chick lit escape read.

My life is the opposite of Adeline's in every possible way, but I still found her utterly relatable and was cheering her on the entire time. The descriptions of characters and settings brought the story to life right in front of me. I've never been to San Francisco, but this novel made it even more enticing to visit. (Not that I don't already have reasons to check it out.) Angela did better with giving Chicago more of a feel than in her previous novel, but I think that's also due to me spending time there recently.

There was only one aspect I found slightly predictable, but the outcome ended up surprising me anyway. Aside from that, I wasn't sure where this story was going and I enjoyed being along for the ride. I felt like some of the men seemed interchangeable at times, but she made it clear who was or wasn't likable. I did learn a lot about what it's like to be a corporate attorney and all the office politics involved. However, even with some of the law terminology, the parts involving Adeline's career were easy to follow. I always associated Adeline as a name for earlier generations (like those born over a century ago), but the one in this story made it sound like a name that people could be bringing back for a younger generation.

Overall, I had a lot of fun reading this novel and had a hard time putting it down!

I took to Adeline immediately. She’s a Chicago lawyer, merely existing, it asking too much from life. Suddenly she has a career opportunity and also a potential crush turns real. While a good attorney, Adeline has a lot to learn in the People department. I guess who she would end up with halfway through the book. Adeline finally comes to realizations in her life and takes action. She doesn’t just settle, although that would be the easy way out. I liked that she was a Midwesterner and it was home for her. It’s a great read.

Enjoyable and easy read.
I definitely enjoyed this book although I can't say I was swept away by it. It was an easy read, characters were reasonably easy to relate to and it was an enjoyable summer read. 3.5 stars for me.

I didn’t quite connect with this one…
The pacing felt off throughout the novel and I had a hard time connecting with Adeline. She was an adult woman, but I often felt I was reading about someone much younger.

I thought her friends were great! But I didn’t quite get on with this.

A good read. Adeline's character shows growth throughout the book. Very good romantic comedy. I found that Adeline was very focused on what others thought.

I enjoyed this authors previous book and was looking forward to reading this book, not a fan of this book. I don't enjoy reading about adultery. Did Not Finish 1 star

This story was easy to read. The main character named Addie was likable, and the drama in her life was entertaining. However, sometimes I felt that I was reading from a teenager's point of view instead of a grown woman's. In general, the plot was interesting and fun to read, and I loved that Addie's enemy at work was someone that I did not think of but that it made sense storywise. Regarding the ending, I have to say that I really liked it, but I think it was rushed. I would have wanted to see in detail how her relationship developed with the person she chose.

Thanks to NetGalley and Girl Friday Books, I had the opportunity to read the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Loved this book!! The main character is someone you would totally be friends with in real life. She is so strong and amazing you will absolutely be drawn into the story just to see what she does.

Though predictable it was well written and the characters are likable. Addie ends up with exactly who she should, the supporting characters aren’t bland. I like reading about her dilemmas and the fact she actually makes mistakes.

First of all I wanna thank NetGalley, Smith Publicity and Angela Terry for allowing me to read this eARC!
Honestly this story swallowed me since I started it. I felt connected with Addie in a lot of things during the book (not only the fact that I'm also 33 years old), Bridget is the best friend everyone wants in their life and Mark made me laugh and smile from the beggining, he was always sich a food and supportive friend and colleague to Addie. I LOVED Brad when he first entered the story so I felt so disappointed with the continuing of the book...
The pace of the book was good, see all different aspects of Addie's life was interesting.
Definitely a fun and easy read that I loved!
