The Trials of Adeline Turner was such a pleasant read. As a corporate attorney, Adeline advances in her career but finds little time for a personal life. After a chance encounter leads her to running head first (literally) into her high school crush, Adeline thinks this must be her chance to reignite an old flame. Adeline learns the hard way that sometimes people are better in our heads than they are in real life. After heading across the country for a job and into the unknown, Adeline figures out that she has to make the life she wants, not just wait for it to come to her.

I really enjoyed this pleasant read. It was the perfect mix of girl power with career advancement and emphasis on friendship plus some romance with a bit of drama. Easy read and perfect for the summer or a long flight.

The Trials of Adeline Turner follows the main character Adeline 'Addie', who's in her 30's, and definitely lives life by the rules. Until every opportunity begins to fall in her lap, like running into a crush from high school, relocating, making new friendships, does Addie begin to spice up her life and live on the cusp.

I did find the plot drawn our and tiresome. But the ending seemed to stop so abruptly. I did like Addie's good friend, Bridget, and her newly formed friendship with her work friend Nora.
Bridget added good humor to the storyline and I can definitely see some of my friends in Bridget's character.
I also loved how the "villain's' worked into the story-line (don't want to name any names as to give away spoilers). The descriptions of Addie's three male suitors were a bit complex for me, especially Eric and Evan

Overall it felt like the important parts were all crammed into the end, which ended so abruptly and quickly that I didn't know how to feel about it. Generally I like to the story-line to unfold throughout the entirety of the book not the last few pages!

I think Angela Terry is a great writer, but, The Trials of Adeline Turner, wasn't a book I would read again.

I appreciate Netgalley and Angela Terry for allowing me to read this and provide my honest feedback.

I enjoyed this fast-paced rom-com in the beginning, but as it went on I found it had a few issues overall. I'll start at the end. It was rushed. Everything was crammed into the last 10% of the book. All the problems were solved and Addie suddenly found her love just like that. I liked the build-up but I would also like to have had more time to enjoy the outcome.

Addie is a smart woman on her way to making partner at her law firm but she is also incredibly immature when it comes to her love life. She's in her 30's and her reactions and way of dealing with things reminded me of a much younger person. I felt frustrated and eventually bored with her. I also found the storyline with her mom completely unrealistic. It was all too quick for me.

On a positive note, some of the side characters were great. Bridget was a true friend and her humor and honesty were wonderful additions. Nora was also a great work friend, and Mark turned into a great character. Addie's Dad was also good.

This is a fun read but there are some frustrating bits, I wouldn't read again.

I enjoyed this fast-paced rom-com but had a few issues overall. I'll start at the end. It was rushed. The storyline was cute but predictable and that's ok. My issue is that we hardly had any time to enjoy the ending before it was over. Everything was crammed into the last 10% of the book. I liked the build-up but I would also like to have had more time to enjoy the outcome.

I also found the reconnect with her mom completely unrealistic. It was all too quick for me.

Just simply delightful! This was a fun easy read (rom com) that i got lost into and finished within 24 hours of starting. The characters are likeable and I became attached to Addie. I found myself rooting for her at work to as she tries to become partner in her lawfirm and in her personal life on the search for love in your 30s. The story incorporates the bond of female friendships, dating in a tough single world, ambition to be successful in your career, and the depth of family relationships.
This was a solid 4.5 read and will go back to check out the authors prior book.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.

The Trials of Adeline Turner is a book about taking chances. Adeline has been set in her ways and rarely takes any risks until her life starts presenting opportunities left and right. She encounters a high school crush, new job, jealous coworkers, new relationships, and relocation just to name a few.

I thought this book was a quick read, but didn't find it to be particularly captivating. I felt like the storyline was really drawn out, but then the conclusion seemed more abrupt. I would have preferred less details surrounding her journey and more on her destination. it seemed like it was more of a cautionary tale of what not to do and what doesn't work rather than the alternative. Overall it was a good read, just not one that left me in suspense for the outcome.

I received an advance copy of, The Trials of Adeline Turner, by Angela Terry. I found this book and the characters dull, boring, and dry.

This is a must-read for any woman who identifies with the feeling of being "in progress". Adeline is funny, relatable, and has a sense of humor. This is the perfect poolside, summer read yet still has some depth and self-discovery. I was a fan of the friendships and supporting characters as well.

Overall, I really enjoyed rooting for Adeline throughout the story. This was a solid summer read that I will recommend to the women in my life without any hesitation.

This was a fun and easy romance read. I enjoyed the main character, and her ability to speak her mind and stand up for her decisions. Addie really felt like me, if I had to be dating in my 30s. I really liked her best friend Bridget, her humor was a nice addition. I wasn’t crazy about any of the love interests but the relationships were believable and well written. I did feel like a few of the plot lines weren’t entirely developed, mainly Elena as well as a “plot twist” about a love interest that didn’t get very much mention at all. I did enjoy the ending a lot, but also felt like it wasn’t given much time or detail. My main issue with this book, however, was that every single conversation-whether it was inner dialogue or with another character, was about her love interests. I know, it’s a romance story, it’s supposed to be about love. But this is a 30 year old woman lawyer who is about to make partner, I feel like she would have other discussions or thoughts too!

Overall I did enjoy this book, I just wish it had more of Adeline’s story and not just “who should I be with” conflict. I recommend this book to anyone who loves romance novels, love triangles, dating intrigue, or books about women with powerful careers.

I really enjoyed this story, which was relief after seeing a few lower-rated reviews on GR. Glad they were way off base, as this quick-paced, funny, and drama filled romance had everything I was looking for. Beyond being very well-written, the characters were memorable and likable.

As a protagonist, I found Addie to be a particularly sympathetic character, and being able to see into her past now and again was a great way to remind us of the source of her childhood and teenage insecurities that have followed her into her adult life. She’s a deeply intelligent, funny, and ambitious woman who also happens to be quirky in all the right ways.

The supporting characters of Bridget (best friend), Elena (new friend), and Mark (new boss) all add great human moments to this story and reminded me of various friends, acquaintances, and colleagues throughout my life to date. They play their roles well, and so do the villains! I won’t spoil it, but the 3 shady characters that make life uncomfortable for Addie sure do bring you back to every uncomfortable and awkward moment sharing office space with people you would otherwise avoid at all costs.

The author’s depiction of the suitors in Addie’s life threw me a bit (particularly Eric and Evan), and it’s the only reason I didn’t give higher than a 4. I understand that to drive the plot forward to get Addie where she needed to be, that this all had to happen, but I felt blind-sided by one character’s almost secret negative personality traits that appeared a bit too late in the storyline for me. It was just a bit convenient and I think let Addie out of what might have been a morally questionable situations - basically it’s easier to see someone treated unfairly if they’re a bad person.

I also enjoyed the surprise ending to the office hijinx, so that was pleasantly unexpected.

The overall idea of Addie going through all of these experiences to learn to stand up for herself, to stop settling, and to stop letting life happen to her, was a really nice message. Her familial connections were also lovely, each in their own way, so I was glad time was spent to dig into them a bit.

Definite recommend from me if you’re into a rom-com with a side of drama and some lovely peeks into friendships, failed romances, and cross country corporate law firms!

This book certainly pays homage to the phrase "things are not always what they seem". In Adeline's mind, Brad is the epitome of perfection but once she really scrutinized his personality and willingness to let her fail, it was certainly not the person she led herself to see. She also tried to convince herself to try to love others but mainly it was men who never even solicited her opinion but were happy to have her around. She was lucky to have such strong friends like Bridget and Nora. I was glad she found true love in a good man and returned to her home.

This was a lighthearted tale following Adeline Turner as she discovers what dating is like in her 30s. But it was also much more than that. Adeline faces different life changes and with each one she unearths a little more of herself. Though at times the dialogue was jumbled (you couldn’t tell who was speaking) and the ending was slightly abrupt, I throughly enjoyed this story of self discovery.

I really enjoyed this story of Addie as she discovers what is important to her and begins to open herself up to listening to her inner voice. It also made me so glad I never had to date in my 30s!!!

The Trials of Adeline Turner is an enjoyable, fast paced read about Adeline, or as her friends call her Addie and her thirty something life as a lawyer who is married to her job. Things change for Addie as she takes the offer to move to her firm’s smaller office in San Francisco. Lighthearted and uplifting story.

There's a lot going on here...First, the voice this is written in is too familiar. Adeline isn't clever enough to pull off some of the lines she tries to tell the reader "Yes? No? Well I did." It just bothered me more than helped the story along. Other elements of the story are brought up and never discussed again (Elena on dating apps? Not only not into her fiance but cheating?). I know the reconnecting with her mother storyline was supposed to be some breakthrough but it overall felt unnecessary. Perhaps the most odd part was the last 2 pages her realizing Mark was her "person," just like that. This book tried to do way too much and instead of following through, ended up half assing it along the way.
