Thank you NetGalley, Susan Hatler and Hatco Publishing for the digital copy of The Wishing Star. This is my personal review.
Charlie wanted to be an actress but gave up that dream to help her husband fulfill his dream of being a singer. But her life changed when she divorced her husband. She was left with a mansion she could not afford to live in.
Her life changed when a film crew wanted to use her home to tape a daytime soap opera. She never imagined she would be asked to play a small role in the show. But then the role turned into a bigger role when the chemistry between her and the male lead Luke Montgomery was helping the ratings. But the chemistry was not just on screen because they both felt the pop and sizzle they had.
The romance in the book was just the right amount that I could feel it as I was reading.
This is the third book in the Kissed by the Bay series, and it is an excellent book to grab and lay on the beach to read.

Charlie Rockwell married her high school sweetheart. He was a musician, and she wanted to be an actress. When he got noticed and his career started to take off, she put her dreams aside to support him. It was exciting, but neither one had thought about what becoming a star would be like. He loved it, and she had to walk away from him. All she got from the divorce was her vacation home. When she needed money to save her home, her lawyer gave her two options. She chose the second option of renting out her home to the soap opera, Just One Love for a month.
When they started to shoot there, she was needed to play a small part for one day, but she was so good with the star Luke that the producers expanded her role. She was finally becoming an actress and started to come alive but when the paparazzi arrive, she is ready to call it quits. She and Luke were starting to fall in love, and she could have the life she dreamed of, if she could get past what fame had done to her and her ex-husband.
Sometimes when you plan out your life, there are many things we don't plan on. Charlie put her life on hold to support her husband so when they got divorced, she really had no way of supporting herself. We do learn why he did what he did when they got divorced which was another eye-opener. Is there a way to have the life you want without all the unwanted attention? The book shows us what the reality is for Charlie but it also gives us insight on things we may not think about when planning life.
I received an ARC from Hatco Publishing through NetGalley.

The Wishing Star is the third book in Susan Hatler's Blue Moon Bay series. Although part of a series this is a standalone story which follows Charlie, a recent divorcee from rack star bad boy Rex. Charlie rents her home to her favourite soap opera for a months filming and gets more than she bargained for ... career and a man. The story follows her as she grapples with her feelings and difficult decisions

Did I enjoy it? It was well written, the story flowed well and at a good pace. The characters were well thought out and believable and there was the odd laugh along the way. But sadly it just didn't have the wow factor, I honestly can't put my finger on why exactly, it all just seemed a little to predictable and twee for my taste.

However, if your looking for a light beach read, then is definitely worth giving a chance.

I loved this book, super entertaining! I loved the positive message about marriage in the book: how important is it to work to support each other while not giving up on who you both are!
This story was sweet and so funny. They town’s people were wonderful secondary and third characters. Her friends and sister truly support her and have been trying to get her to get on with life!
