This volume continued with the same fantastic plot and world as the first book. Honestly so glad I stumbled upon these as this is one of my new favorite fantasy comics to date. The world is rich, the characters are flawed and well-developed, and the story is gripping! Cannot recommend enough.

(Also the art looks amazing, so that's bonus points)

Cursed dragon princess? Sharp artwork? Not earth shaking or mind bending, but good, solid old-school entertainment.

Thank you toNetgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

After reading the first volume of this comic book, I got hooked and went to find all the issues that were not in Book 1 that I got from Netgalley and I could understand when I started this one which end at issue 17, anyway, I just liked it and Lu is an amazing funny character that I loved following the adventures. I will be looking for the next issues.

In this book, we will follow our Dragon princess, Lu, in her quest of trying to find a way to break the curse that her kin put on her. She will meet other characters who will either try to help or stop her from finding a solution. We will see Dorma laying her brother to rest and then with Lu, we will go visit prince Aki in his kingdom of The Wandering City of the Scarlet Sands, there some new adventures and mysteries will be waiting our heroine.

I. Need. MORE! I loved this one more than the first one. It starts off following Dorma as she returns home from the Dragons Maw. It goes into a little of her backstory and then to her future. It was a wonderful story and she is quickly becoming a favorite. After a few chapters it switches to Lu and her adventurous ways. She of course gets herself into some trouble and some how comes out at the end. She meets up with an old friend, Prince Aki and his shadow Koro, and they now have their own mystery to solve.

This graphic novel is so amazingly written. The world building is never ending but flows very nicely. As the it moves through the characters, the world increases. I cannot wait for this to release so that I can see becomes of our characters. Definitely after that last page!!

Thank you once again Netgalley and TKO Studios for access to read the preview of book 2. Since I only had access to a preview for the first one, going into book 2 did make me a bit confused ay to what happened with the characters. I was glad however to see Dorma get her own backstory and look into her home, life, and what it means for her to continue on without her brother.

After Dorma's story, we get to se a bit of Lu uncover some hidden truths about herself, but also still looking for pieces to the puzzle. At one point she is called "princess" which makes me wonder if she is half dragon and half human or something else.

Overall a great continuation of the first book, I do think it jumps around too much to stay consistent on one story line which makes reading the series of events a bit confusing. Still enjoyed it none the less.

I received an eARC in return for an honest review. All opinions are my own; thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity.

I was so glad I had the opportunity to see more of the characters in this continuation. As in the first collection, the art truly enhances the world and story profession. This edition kicks off with a deeper dive into character backstory (again very similar to how a good D&D role playing session would go). A bit more of the mystery was revealed as the party splits and reunites and finds new purpose. I like the way the story plays on the “who is the villain here?” trope.

If you liked the first collection do carry on and pick this up - it’s fun and lovely to read.

Things are really starting to pick up. By focusing a little more on the individual characters, we see them grow and develop. They all have hopes and desires to fulfill. It's what made the stakes of each saga so intense. Not to mention the two issue each approach really brings a sense of something building up. That works way better than dragging everything out. Now I'm eager to see where this series left off.

Due to not being able to finish the first one, I won't be reading this one at all. It's unfortunate because it's in the genre and medium that I quite enjoy. Sadly, the first book didn't grab me at all meaning that there's no point to reading the second.

Scales & Scoundrels is a colorful and cartoonish fantasy -- full of action and adventure, highly entertaining, and recommended for readers young and old. Perfect for graphic novel fans.

A nicely crafted adventure tale even if it doesn’t break any new ground. The characters are entertaining, the pacing is good, and the artwork is wonderfully vibrant and well drawn.

The ARC version I reviewed was a partial copy, which was a shame as the portion I read was very engrossing. A definite recommendation.

Dorma honors her brother's memory and lays him to rest. She also reunites with her parents and grandmother before going off on another adventure. Luvander continues to seek a cure for her curse. She travels to a remote library for an answer, but is followed by the bounty hunter and his dogs. They attempt to kill her again, but Lu is saved by another dragon. She then goes to Aki's kingdom in search of answers and ends up helping him with a mystery. Koro discovers Lu's secret.
