Secrets of Ruth by Rebecca Currington Snapdragon Group offers delightful insights about the book of Ruth in the Bible. I enjoyed the nuggets I gleaned through the book and used it to aid in preparation for a sermon. I highly recommend this book. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. My review is also on Goodreads.

The book of Ruth is one of my favorite books in the Bible, and this well-written devotional brought out some beautiful aspects of Ruth’s life. There’s some encouraging thoughts throughout this devotional, and I’m looking forward to using this book as a basis for some Bible journaling. I’m glad to have this one to return to again and looking forward to sharing it with others.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my are my own.

Great collection of devotionals! Essentially the devotionals are centered on 1 verse of Ruth, which I found kind of odd because usually other scriptures are also referenced when it is relevant to what you are reading but I had to remind myself that this devotional is called Secrets of Ruth so for that reason there may not be other scriptures referenced.

Overall I think this would be a great gift for the women in my life who want to draw nearer to God and learn more about his love and guidance through the story of Ruth and Naomi.

What a treasure!

Each devotion organized into four parts: (1) the bible verse (2) summary explaining the action and background to the verse (3) a practical lesson we can learn and apply and (4) a prayer pertaining to the verse.

I loved this bible study on the book of Ruth! Stopping to study each verse allows readers to learn what it was like for Ruth and Naomi during bible times. The book of Ruth in the bible highlights family loyalty, spiritual integrity, and romantic love. The themes of tenderness, devotion, kindness, and commitment are still prevalent today.

Patricia Mitchell brings Ruth alive for readers and allows us to see connections between our life and hers. Making it relevant allows readers to glean more from the study.

Ruth is such a wonderful book of the bible to study because it is a reminder that despite what’s going on around us, we CAN live faithfully. This devotional reveals the concept of marriage as God intended; true, honorable and faith filled. As God worked in Ruth’s heart, she softened to love a Jew, her mother-in-law, and then God. Her experiences show that God works behind the scenes and helps those who follow him. Readers are also shown the genealogy of David’s family as Boaz is David’s great-grandfather!

The bonus material from “Secrets of the Proverbs 31 Woman” was a welcome treat as was the plan for reading through the bible in one year!

I’m really looking forward to some more biblical wisdom in the Secrets of Esther available in December 2021.

I was gifted this soul quenching copy from Patricia Mitchell, Rebecca Currington Snapdragon Group, and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

This devotional takes the book of Ruth verse by verse, sharing the author’s perspective on the events that take place. Each devo is short but includes a brief overview of what’s happening in the verse, a lesson we can learn from it, and a prayer at the end.
I’m halfway through this devotional but I’ve already enjoyed it this far!

Thanks to netgalley for my review copy.
I have enjoyed using this book for morning devotions. It gives a new perspective on Ruth. The book takes an in depth look at Ruth a verse or two at a time with a few other related verses. It is like doing a mini bible study on Ruth one day at a time with new insights I had never thought of before. I have read the book of Ruth as a whole and chapter by chapter but this has really made me more aware of what it would have been like for both Ruth and Naomi. This is the kind of devotional I enjoy as it offers more than just a verse short thought and prayer.
I hope the author will writer more devotionals in the same vein.

This was a good devotional book for women. I like that it is pulls verses from Ruth to learn from because Ruth is one of my favorite books in the Bible and Ruth is someone we could all learn about faith and devotion from so it's easy to gain wisdom and strength from.

Secrets of Ruth
by Rebecca Currington

The book of Ruth has long been a favorite of mine. I thoroughly enjoyed this study and I learned a great deal too. Rebecca Carrington has written a solid study with multiple Bible sources. The only negative thing regarding this book is Currington's use of the Message as a Bible source on a number of occasions. I prefer Bible studies to use a good solid Bible translation at all times.
I do recommend this book. It would make a good study for a small group.

Secrets of Ruth is a new version of Secrets of Ruth: Fresh Perspectives on Biblical Wisdom for Women by Patricia Mitchell so this is not a new devotional, just a repackaged version. Secrets of Ruth is an inspiring, interesting devotional for women. It walks through the book of Ruth verse by verse, then considering the thought or theme in that verse. This is a good way to walk through the book of Ruth slowly, and truly take in the richness of the themes in the book. There are also devotions that consider more the culture and historical context of the day. All in all, I think this is a good devotional for women.

This devotional walks through the Old Testament book of Ruth, verse by verse, with other topical or associated verses to flesh out a thought. Some devotions are based explicitly on the text while others are inferred from the historical period or culture. The author has done an excellent job of making Ruth's story relevant to issues every woman faces, regardless of the year.

This does appear to be a repackaging of Secrets of Ruth: Fresh Perspectives on Biblical Wisdom for Women by Patricia Mitchell - Ms. Mitchell's name is on the front and the copyright is from 2015. Either way, it takes biblical truths from a woman who had a unique position in the Messianic genealogy and applies them to today.

Highly recommended for women of any age. Completely family
