As someone who tries to keep my fridge as organized as possible so that I am not losing food, this is a wonderful guide. I appreciate that she not only talks about the organizing concept but breaks it down based on how big of a time commitment you can give to the process.
Depending on your preferred diet in your home the recipes may not be helpful. We are a flexitarian household (we eat equal meals with meat and without, we also do smaller meat portions when we serve it, and fill out the remainder of meals with plant-based foods). Being a flex diet house all of her recipes are great for us because they are easy to add meat if we want. The author states that she is a vegan but the rest of her household isn't so she works to make recipes that she can cook for herself and then add the meat and dairy for her family.

I had no idea I needed this book in my life!!!! I loved the history of refrigeration technology just as much as I loved the tips on food storage and the recipes. I plan to order a print version of this book!

*** I received an ARC of this book from the author/publisher from Netgalley. I wasn’t obligated to write a favorable review or any review at all. The opinions expressed are strictly my own.

This book wasn't what I thought it would be, but it was very interesting. I thought it was going to be more about aesthetics when organizing a fridge, but the author put a ton of work and research into the best practices for storing and getting the most out of food. This would be an excellent reference boon for any kitchen and I have found myself coming back to it frequently after grocery shopping. The author goes into detail about how to store pretty much every type of vegetable. There are also some great recipes and tips for pantry organization as well.

I enjoyed this fridge organization book by Kristen Hong.

I have seen some beautiful fridge pics on Instagram, but never heard someone's actual tips before now. Author Kristen Hong really encourages everyone to organize their fridge in an accessible way- to make your fridge functional for you, whatever that may look like. I like that she doesn't just want your fridge to look good, but to work for your life.

There are some parts that just seemed like filler- I skipped the parts about the history of fridges, and I don't think it's necessary for the book at all.

I enjoyed learning the organizational system, especially with the list of how to store all the different foods in your fridge to last the longest- I learned a lot of practical things that I will be doing from now on!

I still don't have such a beautiful fridge that I can Instagram pics of, but my food lasts longer and I can better see and use the food I store in my fridge!

This book is the perfect gift for anyone, but particularly for one who is setting up their first kitchen from scratch or for someone who is in need of a reset after the last months on lock down. It’s a how-to/tutorial that provides clear concise information with lovely illustrations.
From cleaning, storage, what to fill your kitchen with, how to prepare individual items and full meals, how to organize them all while staying safe, healthy, saving money and eating responsibly with less waste. This is a must have for every kitchen. I’m already using many of the things I’ve learned.

Had some great tips on organizing your fridge and also made me look at my container organization a different way to make things easier when meal prepping and even putting away left overs.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC of Fridge Love!

I loved the beginning and learning about the anatomy of a very well organized and beautiful refrigerator. As a mom of a fresh fridge I now see how much fresh we waste. I loved the authors tips to keep everything fresh. The cherry on top was the recipes towards the end.

This book is a guide to organizing your fridge with a lot of detail on how to store food (mostly product). A fantastic resource for people looking to eat more vegetables and fruit, a must have for those new to veganism or vegetarianism. The author, Kristen Hong, runs a blog called “Hello Nutritarian”, inspired by Dr. Fuhrman’s research and writings. I was not previously familiar with her blog nor with the nutritarian diet, but it certainly makes a lot of sense for those who want to try it. It’s a lot of whole foods and little to no sugar and oil. The author lives by this lifestyle but her husband and two children do not, so she shares tips on making dinners for a family with different diets.

But this book isn’t so much about what to eat as it is about how you can organize your fridge so it’s easy to grab healthy food when you’re hungry, and how to keep that food fresh. The book also contains recipes. My favorites that I want to try are “Chocolate Almond Dip” (a healthier version of Nutella), “Rainbow Collard Wraps” (a sandwich wrap using collards instead of a tortilla) and “Easy Potato Dal Curry”.

I gave it 4 stars. This book is released 2/1/22 from @marinerbooksforbetterliving. Thank you to the publisher for this advanced release copy in exchange for my honest review.

As I began this book, one of my favorite authors released a new book, but I was SO into “Fridge Love”, that the new book had to wait for me to finish every page of this book!!!

From a surprisingly interesting history of refrigeration (that has led to a new fascination with ice boxes), to amazing nutritarian recipes, there was so much to learn. I loved the fact that the author broke out prep and storage recommendations based on a variety of potential personal goals and time constraints. I also really enjoyed the storage advice for every fruit and vegetable I could think of, which included prep tips, storage tips, and how long they stay fresh in the fridge. So much to enjoy about this book, and it set me off on an exciting new path to health, and a beautiful fridge!

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. Durning the ongoing pandemic I believe that many of us tried out hards at organizing and refrigerators was one of the many items we tried to organize. If you didn't, now is your chance with this easy-to-follow book with vibrant pictures.

I have always been interested in how to feed my family with as much nutrition and as little effort as I possibly can while living a busy lifestyle. I am also one who cleans her refrigerator every week and tries to keep a vegetable tray and other healthy snacks always available.

With that said, I can say how much this book intrigued me. It takes what I try to do to a very high level of perfection. The beautiful pictures of healthy foods organized inside the refrigerator makes my heart happy to see. Oh, I dream of a day when my refrigerator could be so beautiful!

Besides being interesting to look at, this book is full of the practical as well. After having read Fridge Love, I understand more of how the refrigerator works and where to strategically place and store items for the best quality possible. I appreciated those tidbits of information and made some changes for the better.

I took one of Kristen Hong's suggestions and removed the vegetable tray drawer from my refrigerator. It was a great change and made a huge difference! I love that I have more room for storage containers and can easily see and access what I have.

One of my goals is to use what I have and to not let anything go bad. i hate throwing food away and am very particular in not letting things spoil before I use them. This book has suggestions that are very helpful for this reason.

If you are easily overwhelmed then read this book knowing that you can't make all the changes at once. Just pick and choose the suggestions that work for you. The little changes you make will make your heart happy.

I received a digital book from Thomas Nelson via NetGalley. I was not required to give a positive review and the opinions expressed are my own.“

Fridge Love: Organize Your Refrigerator for a Healthier, Happier Life is an impressively organized guide to arranging readers' fridges for efficiency and meal-planning by Kristen Hong. Due out 1st Feb 2022 from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt on their Mariner Books imprint, it's 352 pages and will be available in paperback and ebook formats.

This is an upbeat and impressively organized book. Most of the time I just look at extreme cleaning and organizational books and get stressed out because that's absolutely not me (side eying you, Marie Kondo). This one is actually more inspiring than stressful and I found a lot of good and usable takeaways here.

The book follows a logical format. Part 1 covers the background and benefits of organization, prepping, meal-prep and planning, and the author offers different ways of looking at and evaluating personal needs to build a plan to get (and stay) organized. The second section offers a look at how to clean, organize, and set up the plans and processes. This part made me tired. She's so encouraging and upbeat that I -am- going to try to start and this is a good time to do it (new year, etc), but honestly the instagram color coordinated -spotless- fridge pictures kinda got me down because my fridge looks like the "before" part of an episode of hoarders. The rest of the book builds on the intro sections with practical plans for incorporating the procedures into daily life. She makes some good points about living in a family where not everyone follows the same sort of diet (nutrient rich meatless diet in her case). This would work well in a family where one person is on other types of food restrictions, low FODMAP, or anti-inflammatory, or diabetic, etc. The book is rounded out with recipes which are perfectly suited to meal-prep and planning/storage.

The recipes have their ingredients listed bullet style in a sidebar. Measurements are given in US standard only. Special tools and ingredients are also listed, along with yields and cooking directions. The ingredients will -mostly- be easily sourced at any moderately well stocked grocery store. There are some few which may need specialty retailers or a larger metropolitan area/international grocer. Nutritional information is not included, but the storage suggestions are specific and appropriate.

The photography is sufficient but not abundant; roughly 10% of the recipes are pictured. The photos which are included in the cookbook are well done, clear, appealing, and (for tutorial photos) easy to follow. The photos in the introduction and basic planning sections of the book are abundant and beautifully color coordinated and immaculately styled.

Well done. This book would make a great gift for fans of food prep planning / batch cooking, as well as readers who enjoy organizing manuals à la Marie Kondo.

Four stars.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

This book is fascinating. It’s probably the healthiest cookbook I’ve ever seen. The recipes are for someone fully immersed in a vegan, oil-free diet. However, it’s all the fridge love tips and tricks that make this book great. I started to roll my eyes when I saw all the fridge organizing pictures thinking this was going to be a silly cookbook. I learned a ton though and have a lot of inspiration moving forward with my cooking journey. I’m excited to rethink how I do things in the kitchen now. I definitely know some tips for making fresh foods last longer. Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy.

Everyone wants to get better organized. Everyone wants to eat better. This book combines these two aspirations into one easy .. well maybe not easy .. goal.

Step by step instructions with science to back them up, make this book a real "how to".

I was originally attracted to the colorful photos of the inside of her fridge. I stayed interested by the simple explanations and the options - how serious do you want to get with this?

I will likely buy a hard copy of this and maybe give one to mom for her birthday.

Great stuff.

Excellent book giving many good tips on how to organize your food in the refrigerator and tips on better air flow and temp controlling foods. And a great surprise at the end of the book with some delicious recipes added.

This book was received as an ARC from Mariner Books in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book was so helpful to the fact that I am willing to apply these techniques and tips to my small fridge since my husband and I want to eat healthier. I also appreciated the recipes Kristen included in this book and how healthy and delicious they are. I also loved the photos on how she organized her fridge by color and obviously the food looked too beautiful to eat but, when produce is ripe and colorful not only is beautiful to look at but tastier to eat. I also like the recommendations of storage containers depending on the food type and how to properly store it and for how long.

We will consider adding this title to our TX Non-Fiction collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

This was a great book about utilizing the space in your fridge to where you can make the meals you need to without just stuffing junk into it.

ARC Review:
This book was very satisfying to read. Love the cover, draws in fellow organization fiends like myself. I love the idea of organizing your fridge to make everything easier to see, easier to store, and to look like less of a mess. When things are clean and organized it helps the brain process what is in front of it--making meal prep and dinner rustle ups a lot easier.
