I so wish I'd had this book back in January when I had to replace my 19 year-old refrigerator. I was so ready for this book. I watched The Home Edit on Netflix. I bought bins for my new fridge. I don't know how I lived before. So, full disclosure, fridge organization is my jam. But Hong really takes it to a whole new level. She adjusts the temps in her fridge more than I've ever heard of anyone doing--is this a thing? I read a ton of online info before, during, and after getting my new fridge but this book puts all the info in one place. My favorite part of this book is Part 3--it's out-of-this-world amazing: how to (& for how long to) keep every fruit and veg I could possibly imagine bringing into my home fresh and edible! I didn't care anything about the nutritarian recipes (Part 4) but many readers will love them. But all the pix of organized refrigerators! OMG, she should have called this book Fridge Porn!

I had hoped for more advice on food and less educational information on the history of fridge evolution.

Game changer for our family. We are awful about "losing" food at the back of our fridge or buried under other stuff. I tried using just a couple tips from Fridge Love and we ended up actually eating ALL the product I bought at the store that week. Every bit. Cutting it up immediately, storing it in containers instead of tossing it into the veggie bin... it sounds like a no brainer, but truly, it makes all the difference. And there are many many more great tips. I will say that it's not an overnight thing... It takes some effort and quite a lot more.orginozomg savvy than I tend to have, but I'm at least a believer that an organized fridge is possible!!

I did not read Fridge Love by Kristen Hong through an educator lens.

Wow! This book was unexpectedly wonderful. I was thoroughly impressed with all of the detailed, relevant, and super practical information in the beginning of the book. I greatly appreciated the beautiful photos and tips to keep my fridge organized and food well kept. The recipe section at the end was a really nice surprise, even more so when I realized that most of the recipes were foods my family can eat (multiple intolerances & allergies here).

This is a book that I had no idea I needed but that may be life changing.

I found it while I was browsing the cooking category on Netgalley. I'm having fridge problems. Right now we have three adults in the house each cooking their own meals. Our fridge is packed to the gills. Because it is full, stuff gets shoved to the back and forgotten about until it is no good. I was looking for some tips.

This book opens with a history of refrigeration technology as a primer on why we should appreciate any fridge that we are lucky enough to have. It deep dives into air flow and maximizing efficiency. Then she said something that made me gasp out loud.

The author only keeps one row of food on each shelf.
Look at the cover picture on the book above. Some people really live like that. How? What sorcery is this? I was reading in the car and the husband asked why I gasped. I said that I was reading a book about refrigerators. He was immediately intrigued and demanded that I start reading out loud. I went back to the beginning and read the history section for him. He was quite enjoying it too. We might be strange.

After all the history and science you get sections on what are the best kinds of containers to use to store food in refrigerators and then a useful list of how to store all kinds of foods. (This is a vegan book so don't look for any tips on meat or dairy.) The author discusses different lifestyles how each type of person might want to make their fridge work best for them.

After this is a recipe section with information featured on how to make things ahead and store it best. The author follows the Eat to Live diet by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. I'd read this book in the past. Fridge Love reminded me of how much that way of eating appeals to me. Basically, it is a high fresh fruit and vegetable diet with minimal grains and low/no oil. I've been eating horribly lately. I haven't been meal prepping (see lack of space in fridge) and have been eating takeout because it was easier. This inspired me to get started on making gigantic salads to take to work again for lunch. As of this writing, it has been 4 days and I'm down 7 lbs.

Reading this didn't fix my fridge problems entirely but I'm taking steps.

I ordered a mini fridge for one person who lives here so she can keep a lot of her food in her room to free up some space.
I bowed to the inevitability of space problems and will go shopping twice a week for fresh produce to try to have more room/better airflow.
I'm loving the diet and seeing results. I'm looking forward to making several of the recipes.
This is a book that I think I will also buy in a paper version. The section on how to store different foods is a great reference guide that I can see myself referring to often.

This was a great book with a lot of tips I will be implementing for sure!! The pictures are amazing which adds to the great information. I love to organize and streamline to simplify for my family of 4 so this was the perfect book for me. Great book to add to my collection. Definitely recommend!!
Thanks to Kristen Hong, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and NetGalley for the ARC.

Kristen Hong's Fridge Love is a beautifully illustrated, and highly detailed, guide to setting up an organized refrigerator. I'll admit, I thought this was going to be more about how to use your shelves and bins, and there is definitely some of that here. But Fridge Love is primarily an economical, practical, and time efficient guide to healthy eating.

This is a great resource for busy people. We can all agree that switching to a plant based diet is healthier, but keeping up with it can be tricky. Kristen Hong takes us from the grocery trip, to the washing and prep, picking containers and the placement of each item. Plus the recipes she's included would be easy to tailor to my tastes.

Between the stunning and colorful pictures, details about the history of fridges and how they work, Fridge Love is well worth a read. There are some fantastic and inspirational ideas here, and I'm inspired to at least do better and organizing my fridge for healthy eating!

If you struggle with eating healthy because you bring it home, put in fridge with no real plan this book will definitely help you. Already a fridge organizer? This might give some tips you didn’t know about.
Love the addition of the recipes.
Thank you NetGalley and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for an early read of this book

This book was full of amazing information about how to clean, organize, and get the most out of your fridge and food. We had previously started phasing out our plasticware and this book gave so much inspiration for switching over to glass. On top of that, there were tons of recipes to help with any stage of prep you want to do. This will definitely be a reference for years to come!

Advocating a weight loss plan in the first pages of your introduction prompted me to stop reading this book immediately.

I was originally intrigued by this book for tips of storing and keeping food fresh, but it got a bit weird, too much, for me. A lot of this stuff seemed a bit impractical. Most people only have 1 fridge, she has more. Spacing out all of your food so there's certain distances between.

I understand the concept of having something look nice makes you more motivated. Having your fridge look nice, or having a goal of how you want it could encourage you to eat better, meal prep etc, but at times this does seem to be taken a bit far, for me. No judgments, to each their own. But fridge care is self care? Stages of your fridge, as if it was stages of your menstrual cycle or something. Some parts were eyeroll worthy, even for an open minded person like myself.

I love that this woman has a passion, for refrigerators, but to me it seemed a bit odd. Like fridge organization is a hobby. I was lost at self care... But hey, to each their own! At least it looked pretty.

Fridge Love starts off by describing itself as a guide about how to "Marie Kando" your fridge. However, it is so much more. It discusses the impact of fridges, some of the common arguments about why we shouldn't get organized now (my fridge is gross, not big enough, etc), and even the economic impact of our refridgerators. Then, and only then, does it delve into the organization. Kristen Hong walks you through selecting fridge goals, how the fridge settings work, cleaning, and finally organize your fridge. All of this is presented alongside bright pictures and clear, set by step instructions with enough flexibility for an fridge and reader. Included are tips about making your produce last longer, what to eat first, different fridge prep methods/styles, and notes about storage bin types and materials. Finally, she addressed common issues with organizing a common space: other people. She includes notes about handling and accounting for roomates, children of all ages, and even some notes on allergies. I was highly impressed by how much information this book contains. There were things I had never thought to consider and it made all tasks seem approachable. I would definitely give this a try if you want to finally get your fridge organized. It is clear, informative, and better yet full of motivating information that is easily actionable!

I like the concept but think there is too much irrelevant information in this book. I wasn't interested in learning the history of refrigeration. I like the idea of keeping healthy foods ready to eat and in the front of the refrigerator where they are seen first.

If you’ve ever suspected that a new storage system would transform your life, then you can’t fail to be beguiled by these photos of brightly coloured vegetables layered into glass jars and neatly stacked in rows on fridge shelves.
Fridge Love taps into current trends for tidying and organising, not to mention reducing waste and eating healthily
It’s not all inspirational photos….Hong knows a lot about the history and science of refrigeration and provides a guide to the preparation, storage and fridge life of fresh produce.
There are also loads of useful recipes too, with a focus on food prepping and healthy eating. I’ve made her fat-free hummus recipe twice already and can see it’s going to be a weekly staple in my house.
My fridge may never look like the ones in the photos but I do like this aspirational and useful book.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.

This title will have a extremely specific audience. It will appeal to avid bakers and cooks. Those who are interested in meal planning and meal prep will find the book invaluable. The author shares information about how the refrigerators work, and thereby the best methods for storage. Also included is advice on how and in what to store food. Finally, many different foods from veggies to eggs are documented with advice on storage.

Talk about fridge goals!!! This author knows her stuff on everything fridge related. I mean even how it works. *mind blown* I would recommend this book for the pictures alone. They are gorgeous but the tips are incredible. I may not be able to keep up everything (there’s 6 of us) but there’s so many tips (especially cleaning tips) that I will for sure be implementing.

I enjoyed this book. It was eye opening and easy to read. I liked the format of the book and the step by step instructions.

The recipes were easy to follow and clear but I would have liked more.

I think this would be a nice gift as a housewarming present but im not sure in what other context id buy it.

Overall a nice book. Thank you for the arc.

This was an interesting book to read. A bit of a history lesson, some organization and then a lot of recipes. She does a great job of showing all the different types of fridges people might have and gives examples of how to organize them.

The photos in the book are #goals for sure and I am inspired to do better with my fridge space.

This is essentially a cookbook with some fridge history and organization added in. I am not a vegan but I found a lot of interesting recipes in here that I am going to try and I have ordered some wide mouth mason jars with the intention of prepping salads for the week.

This book not only explains the science behind refrigeration and how it can be used to your advantage in storing and preserving multiple kinds of food for the best results, it also provides plant-based, healthy recipes to give you a head start in food prep and storage that can help your family easily eat healthier without stress throughout the week.

Thank you for the chance to read through this book in exchange for honest feedback.

This is exactly the type of book that I would check out from my library. I am actually in the market for a new refrigerator right now so this is really valuable.

In addition, I need to learn the content or read some suggestions. I have seen videos, TikToks, Youtube videos, etc. that are about house organization. I try things and they usually work for a little while until I let them get disorganized again. This is especially the case for my refrigerator. It is especially important (in my view) to organize my fridge because 1) it keeps food organized, clean, and apparent to household; 2) if the methods work, it can help save money if I can keep food longer and store/use it properly. So, I am happy to request this book and hopefully get a copy when I can.

The cover is beautiful and appealing. The content is definitely relevant and modern. Lots of high quality, appealing IG-perfect pictures of different types of fridges -- the types that would fit for certain lifestyles, like food prep, lifestyle/diets, chopped/fresh, no-cook, etc. There is some stuff about "how the fridge works," cleaning the fridge, types of containers, how to organize based on your personal fridge type (shelves, drawers, freezer etc), the lifecycle of food and prep needs (highly detailed), and then a large section of recipes.

This is one of the books that I would read every page and info, even if I think it's common sense because I need to learn! I believe constantly learning about this sort of thing helps improve lifestyle choices and habits. I would definitely suggest this one for all homeowners or those in charge of buying/organizing food for their home.
