After a young woman has an instant connection with an upper class mom and takes a dream job as a nanny, she is shocked to find out that the gig is not all that it was made out to be. She soon find herself locked into a situation that is less than ideal--it seems she is indeed a nanny, but her charge isn't who she expected.

This plot will draw you in even if the writing isn't earth shattering. But be warned, the ending will leave you wanting a tidier conclusion.

The premise of the novel was exciting and I was drawn in by the initial mystery. Unfortunately, the misdirection and red herrings took away from pacing. I enjoyed the ending but found the middle dragged on unnecessarily.
This was an enjoyable read with a whiplash ending, best devoured in one read!

Nanny Needed by Georgina Cross
What a good book!!! All the plot twists and turns are incredible. Just when you think you have it figured out, it changes again. I did not expect the ending!!
Did you ever wonder what went on in those fancy penthouse apartments? Be forewarned. The grass is not always greener on the other side. The job posting said “special conditions apply” and there is “the need for the utmost discretion.” And this family will do anything to make sure their secret is kept.
This is a new author for me, but I will be ordering her other books as well. Pick this one up. You won’t be disappointed!!!

4.5 crazy thrilling stars! Wow! A wild ride that book took you on and I had no idea of how that was going to end. Patty was an invisible child and the family needed a nanny for her. Crazy in itself, she applied and got the job. It gets crazier and crazier. My first read by this author and I will be adding others to my list. Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy of this book.

What a page turner this book was!!
It started off like any typical "Nanny" book, but oh it turned out to be so much more!
A gripping fast paced, action packed domestic psychological thriller.
My first book by this this Author and certainly won't be my last.
Thank you to Netgalley, Random House Bantam and the Author Georgina Cross for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Sarah Larsen is in New York City, trying to live her best life. She moved there from Virginia Beach after her aunt died, and she found a decent restaurant job. She even met the love of her life. But living in New York is expensive, especially as she’s also carrying debts from her life in Virginia. Her aunt had died of cancer, and Sarah has credit card and medical debt from that time, and the debt collectors are breathing down her neck. Her job waiting tables is not enough to pay for all the bills.

So when a flyer went up in her building’s lobby, advertising a nanny job, she grabs the page to call. It asks for discretion, so Sarah thinks that the family is wealthy, and when she goes to the address for the interview, her suspicions are confirmed. The doorman out front of thee building directs her to the elevator, and then to the top floor. The Birds own the entire floor and Sarah has to work hard to keep her jaw from dropping at the lush furnishings, the artwork, and the beautiful attire of Mrs. Bird, the mother of three-year-old Patty, who Sarah would be the nanny for.

Sarah can’t see Patty, who is on the floor behind her mother, but she makes a connection with Mrs. Bird, and she’s asked back for a second interview. Sarah ends up signing a contract, after being offered a salary that was more than she dreamed. The first couple of days are slow, as Patty is sick. Sarah spends some time talking to Mrs. Bird (“Call me Colette”) and meeting Pauline the housekeeper. And while everyone seems nice, Sarah can’t shake the feeling like something is off.

Why does a wealthy family advertise for a nanny by posting flyers? What happened to the last nanny? Why are there no family photos on the walls or in frames in the family’s house? Why isn’t Patty allowed out of the apartment? And when Sarah sees Collette giving Patty a bubble bath, she only has more questions for the family.

While she feels a genuine connection to Collette, Sarah’s not sure she can continue in the job. But then it’s pointed out to her that the contract she signed not only has a nondisclosure clause but also that she agreed to stay for three months. Steve, Colette’s stepson, insists that Sarah not be let out of her contract. And he’s willing to fight her if she tries to change her mind. However, he also offers to pay her rent for the rest of the year, which in Manhattan is not a small amount of money.

She just has to make it 3 months, until Patty’s fourth birthday. And she’ll be making enough money to start to make a dent on those debts, along with her rent being paid for. What could go wrong, really, in that time?

Nanny Needed is the latest thriller from Georgina Cross. She talks in her author’s note about how she would walk around Manhattan, looking up at those expensive apartments and wondering what could happening, what the rich and influential do behind their closed doors. Whatever it is that they do, doubt that it’s anything like what happens on the Birds’ apartment, speaking to the power of her imagination.

I had a little trouble getting into Nanny Needed at first. There is an underlying weirdness to the Bird family that is a little off-putting. But the more I read, the more I needed to get to the end and find out all the secrets (and that last one is a monster of a reveal!). I liked Sarah a lot and cheered her on throughout, but otherwise I didn’t know who to trust or what to believe. The ground kept shifting below me, and while it was strange at first, it got more and more riveting, until that crazy birthday party that turned it all around like a carousel. So I have to say if you find the book a little slow or a little strange at first, take a deep breath and keep going. You won’t believe where you’ll end up!

Wow. Just wow. I mean this book!!! I have it so many great things about it so I started to read it. I thought it was a pretty good story, albeit kind of weird. And then bam. That ending. I know I’m being cryptic but don’t want to give anything away. Just read it.

This was a bizarre and suspenseful story with great twists! I had one part figured out but I couldn’t figure out the why or how behind it. I don’t have much more to say, but I really enjoyed this book!

I feel like I was in a fever dream after this one. I do not want to give too much away because I was surprised throughout the book and I don’t want to spoil that.

A young woman takes a job as a nanny on the Upper West side and…well, I’m just going to leave it there. I totally did not see the ending coming so that’s a win for me.

Spine tingling page turner. Not your typical "Nanny" trope, dark and thrilling. When a young woman gets a mysterious invitation to nanny for a wealth family, she finds herself caught in a web of deciept and secrets. Evenly paced and a fast, entertaining read.

Sarah is struggling under a mountain of debt, so when the opportunity arises to apply for a well-paying nanny job for the super rich Bird family, she doesn’t let her lack of experience stand in the way. Once she gets the job, things immediately get weird, and then weirder, and then it’s like a soap opera on hallucinogens.

I don’t know what to say about this book other than that it was TOTALLY BANANAS and everything was insane, but in a super entertaining way, so I think I loved it?

Nanny Needed was a creepy but ultimately predictable tale of crazy people being crazy and no one caring as long as they are rich. There were supposed to be twists but they were all pretty standard and easy to see coming.

Nanny Needed follows Sarah Larson, a waitress who is struggling to pay off her debts and applies for a nanny position for a wealthy family living in New York City's Upper West Side. However the more time she spends with the Bird family, the more she starts to question if the job is too good to be true...

This book had me hooked the entire time! This was my commute book and there were a few times I got so engrossed that I almost missed my subway stops. The characters and their actions were so wild and I loved reading about their drama. I definitely recommend if you're looking for a dark and twisty thriller this fall!

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group Ballantine for the digital review copy!

This book had me wanting to know what was going to happen next. I felt with the main character, I would have wanted to quit there as well, but the money came in handy when she needed it. To be a nanny for a child that wasn't there, it was all very weird and odd. When her fiance was killed, I was not expecting that. I loved the mystery factor of it all, but what really brought the book together was the ending, Wow! Totally unexpected, I was not prepared for the ending, it was Awesome! I would definitely recommend this book for others to read! Great job!

Sarah sees an ad for a nanny to the wealthy Bird family. She and her fiancé, Jonathan, are working at a restaurant but barely making ends meet. So, Sarah decides to apply for the nanny job to work during the day and keep her waitressing job at night.

Sarah gets an interview and enters a lush apartment. She meets with Collette Bird, mother of 4-year-old, Patty. After some chatting, she is hired at an amazing salary. But, each day brings more questions for Sarah that leave her stunned. What has she gotten herself into?

This book is totally mind-boggling. Every page seems to bring more surprises and shocks. It’s so scary that I think that anyone will want to think twice before applying for a job like this. Don’t miss this book. It’s compellingly good!!

I am always excited when I find a book that is very different from the everyday read, and this is one of the best examples I have come across in a very long time. Sarah and her fiance Jonathon live in New York and are deeply in debt. When Sarah applies and gets a job as a nanny for a wealthy couple at a salary she ever dreamed possible she is over the moon. Now they get out of debt, move into a bigger place and start planning their wedding. Little do they know what a bizarre situation they will be dealing with. I read this in one setting because I couldn't think about sleeping until I knew what happened.. So many twists and turns!!! The ending is completely unexpected and also bizarre. I loved this book! I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a great thriller.

Thanks to Net Galley for allowing me to read this amazing arc for my honest opinion.

This was a fun, quick read with a little bit of delicious psychological shenanigans thrown in. Deception, darkness and secrets abound but the story draws you in with the great detail and delightful NYC setting as well as the way the heroine imagines how much better life is in the penthouse compared to her world. But is it? Thank you to #netgalley and the publisher for this advanced copy of #nannyneeded to read and review.
