This does not at all end how I expected. Sarah is a young girl burdened under debt who takes a job as a nanny that seems too good to be true. It is mired in psychological turmoil as murder and lies abound. Sarah doesn’t know who to trust in a household where the truth is fluid. This is a page turning read that will leave you breathless.

This was a quick read and although I was able to guess the twists early on, I still enjoyed the book!

This book from the beginning has a creepy vibe. This is the first book I have read by Georgina Cross. But this was a well written suspenseful story that keeps you intrigued.

Nanny needed. Discretion is of the utmost importance. Special conditions apply. How could Sarah turn down this opportunity in a time of need when she needs the money. This is a dream come true for Sarah and how hard can it be? She interviews for the job at the penthouse for an exclusive family and something does not seem right. But before she knows what she is getting herself into, she signs the contract binding her for three months to this family.

From the first chapters of the book you get a strange vibe, but the ending was a twist that some can see coming and others are surprised by. If you are a good detective you will find out what is going on in the first 25% of the book and figure out the first twist.

Thank you NetGalley and Randomhouse publishing for my ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review

Sara Larsen is up to her eyeballs in debt. Working as a waitress she decides she needs an additional job. She peruses a notice in her building lobby for a nanny position. With no nannying experience, she decides she is going to apply for the job anyway. She believes this job is the answer to all her problems.

Sara lands an interview, and later the position. A beautiful penthouse, an amazing salary, a mother who is elegant and friendly, she signs the ND agreement without hesitation. The job seems too good to be true.

There is something odd about the Bird family. Why did the former nanny leave so abruptly? Why does Mrs. Bird never leave the apartment? As the questions dance in Sara’s head ,she beings to realize all is not what it seems in this glamorous penthouse on the West Side.

I could not put this book down and really enjoyed the unpredictable ride!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this arc.

Nanny Needed was a really pleasant surprise for me. By the time it came to the top of my reading pile, I had forgotten what made me request it from NetGalley. Looking at the cover, I was thinking chick lit, but no! It's a great psychological thriller, reminiscent of M. Night Shyamalan's Servant (Apple TV).

The star of the novel is twentysomething Sarah Larsen. She lives in NYC with her fiancé, Jonathan. They are both working minimum wage jobs at a nearby bistro and drowning in debt. So when Sarah sees a flyer in their lobby for a Nanny Needed on the wealthy Upper West Side, she's intrigued. Sure, she has no experience as a nanny, but she used to babysit, so how much harder could this be? The interview should have alerted to the fact that there was a catch to this dream job. The mother for whom she'll be working is gorgeous and so easy to talk to, but her daughter never ventures out from behind the chair where she's hiding. OK, so she's shy. For the amount of money the family is offering, she can overlook shyness. Unfortunately, she also ignores the fine print on the NDA she's required to sign. The money is crazy-good, and the hours are a cakewalk.

Of course, right off the bat, Sarah notices some weird things. For instance, on her first day on the job, the mother (Collette) explains that her daughter Patty isn't feeling so well, so again, Sarah is not able to meet her. And on her second day on the job, Sarah discovers why she still hasn't met Patty. This crazy rich family has a REALLY big secret, something they've been hiding for twenty years! This is where the NDA she signed without reading comes into play. It turns out that Sarah is committed to this job for a minimum of three months, and if she so much as breaths a word of the Bird family's secret, they will destroy her life.

Sarah is a sweet character, well drawn by author Georgina Cross, and you'll appreciate her dilemma as her next few weeks are a nightmare. The conclusion of the novel is unexpected and requires a suspension of belief, but it nicely ties everything together. I was thoroughly engrossed, and I would recommend this novel to anyone who loves suspenseful psychological thrillers.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Random House/Ballantine for providing me an eARC in exchange for an honest review. Nanny Needed will be released on October 5, 2021.

"If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is: should be the caution note here. A delightfully thrilling domestic drama set in the upper West Side of NYC - who wouldn't want to live there? But for one young nanny it is a perfect nightmare.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Random House for this ARC!

Holy smokes! This is a really good book!! From the first page, I was thoroughly hooked and the hits just kept on coming.

The first 20 percent of this book creeped me out - probably more than any other book I’ve read! Then after the first twist, I thought I had it all figured out, and I sort of did, but I kept changing my mind as the story panned out.

The characters are all just so crazy in this novel! It feels like you’re almost being punked just by reading it. 😂 But it makes sense in the end after a couple more twists.

I did NOT enjoy the whole “main character all of a sudden remembers everything” moment, as that is one trope I can’t stand. Thankfully, it was short.

The very end was unexpected and really well-written. I loved this one! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

I received an ARC of Nanny Needed in exchange for an honest review. I like psychological thrillers especially the ones that seem too bizarre to be true. This is one of those types. Nanny Needed definitely has a bizarre storyline but also just a little bit over the top. I like to think that my psychological thrillers could be true and that there are those crazy kind of people out there somewhere. Well this one definitely had some crazy people in it! Maybe just a little too crazy but overall not a bad book.

Once again, I'm blown away by the wild imaginings of a suspense author! The plot: Sarah Larsen responds to an ad for the position of nanny for the wealthy Bird family. This could be the chance to pay off her debt and start planning her wedding with her fiancé. The only wrinkle is the NDA the family expects her to sign, but what the heck--rich people have to protect their privacy, right? But what they are hiding is far weirder than Sarah could have ever imagined.

Be prepared for one crazy twist after another. I really liked Sarah and was delighted at the strength she musters to deal with the truth. You go, girl!

I received an arc of this new novel from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Many thanks for the opportunity.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bantam Books/Random House Publishing for gifting me a digital ARC of the latest book by Georgina Cross - 4.5 stars. If you love Servant on Apple TV, you'll love this book for the same creepy vibes!

Sarah and Jonathan are living in NYC, both working at the same restaurant, just scraping by and trying to save money for a wedding. Sarah sees a notice posted in their building for a couple that is looking for a nanny; she thinks she can do that during the day and waitress at night. When she goes for the interview, the family lives in a gorgeous penthouse apartment on the Upper West Side. The mother, Collette Bird, is gorgeous and feels like she could become a friend. Sarah happily accepts the job and big salary, signing the required NDA without hesitation. But soon she learns that things aren't what they seem in the penthouse apartment.

Enough said - you just need to read this one to feel all the craziness. I raced through the book to see how it was all going to end and loved the twist ending. You may have to suspend belief a bit but isn't that what reading is all about - an escape from reality? Don't miss this one!

Strange, strange, strange. Did I mention this story is strange?

A bit predictable but still interesting. There were enough oddities to keep me guessing about what was going on.

Pull some stuff from left field, stitch them together with some great weaving and then you’ll have this story. It all works in a way that only makes sense.

This was a creepy book! Perfect to read during the month of October. Sarah is in debt and struggling for money. She soon comes across an ad for a nanny job-almost like a dream come true, or is it? The ad clearly states discretion required, yet Sarah thinks nothing of it-to most people this would be a red flag.

The Bird family is the family that Sarah is to nanny for. They are very odd and overly secretive, in fact they make her sign a NDA, without any though to it, Sarah signs the contract. The question is why is the family having Sarah sign this NDA? What secrets are they hiding? And what happened to the previous Bird family nanny?

Like I said-this book is creepy, and weird, yet you can definitely see what’s coming from a mile away. I don’t believe the author was trying to conceal anything, more like slowly build it up. A lot of of this story was unrealistic and far fetched, so it kind of lost my interest. The ending fell a little flat for me as well which left me unsatisfied and wanting more from it.

This definitely reminds me of an eerie Lifetime movie that leaves you feeling paranoid. If you are looking for your next domestic thriller read, this one is for you!

This book is seriously twisted. I figured out what was happening about halfway through, which is why I’m only giving it three stars, but it is a solid thriller about dark family dynamics. I genuinely pitied Collette, trapped in her memories and trying to cope with her grief. There are multiple villains at fault, exploring power dynamics, societal pressures, and the power money can hold over us.

This is an amazing work of fiction. What starts out as a dream job for Sarah quickly turns creepy. Sarah plays along because she has to. But when bad things start to happen in her life she knows who to blame.

I was enthralled by this book. The writing is fantastic and I found Mueller in the book more than once. Hold on for the ending because it will shock you and you won't see it coming!

Sarah Larsen finds a notice for a nanny position in her building's lobby, and it seems like a sign. With past due notices piling up, her dreams of going back to school put on hold, and her wedding to her fiance' Jonathan also on hold because of lack of funds, this could be the answer they needed to get things back on track. She replies to the ad and gets the position. The glamorous penthouse apartment on the Upper West Side of NYC; a salary that adds several zeroes to her current income; and all of the perks that come with the position don't seem like red flags at first. But then she finds out about the little girl she will be a nanny for. Questions start popping up in her mind about what happened to the previous nannies. Sarah may have made a terrible mistake taking this job....but it is too late now.
This was a good psychological thriller. I don't wan't to give too many details to ruin it for you, so let's just say it was about a very messed up family who hired nanny after nanny and used their wealth to lure people in who neeed the money. My only complaint with this book was the ending. It felt rushed, and it didn't feel genuine. I don't feel like anyone is ever going to stand there and brag about all the murders they commited or the poisonings they commited, but maybe that is just me. Other than that, I thought it was creepy (in a good way) and very fast paced. I enjoyed it and think you will too.

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. Wow! What did I just read? This book was absolutely amazing all the way to the last page. Sarah and her fiance, Jonathan, are both working at a restaurant and struggling to try to pay off the debt that was incurred while Sarah's Aunt Clara was sick. Sarah sees a notice hanging up in the lobby of her apartment for a nanny job and even though she has never been a nanny before the crazy amount of money she will be making draws her in. First problem is Patty, the child she is hired to Nanny. She doesn't exist. Second problem is that everyone acts like she exists. It is a crazy rollercoaster ride and I loved it!

Up front- this twisty one goes over and above the top and while it's unbelievable in spots, I also found it compulsively readable. Sarah, our nanny, is living on the margins with her boyfriend in NYC, struggling to pay not only their bills but also the medical bills of her deceased aunt so a job that pays $1200 a week is a real boost. So what if there's something creepy about the Bird family. Why don't Colette and Patty leave the penthouse? Why is there an NDA- a really tight NDA- attached to Sarah's contract? It's impossible to effectively review this without spoilers but know that you might find yourself boo-hissing and also throwing up your hands. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. It's a page turner.

Compelling, short read that’s perfect for a plane ride! I read Nanny Needed on a flight from Denver to the east coast, and it kept me entertained the entire time. It wasn’t amazing literature, but the plot was interesting enough to pull me in and keep me wanting to know how things would end. It was a bit predictable, and not necessarily I’d tell all my friends to rush to the bookstore to pick up, but decent for summer, beach read, quick thriller vibes, etc.
