Bishop’s Crossing is a quick light read. This is my first read by the author and I found it well laid out and enjoyable. Overall the story was interesting and kept me invested in the characters. I enjoyed the book.

I'm almost 100% sure that this is a first book in a series. In fact, I'm almost 100% sure it's Mewha's debut book. I say almost because it feels SO much like it isn't. I cannot tell you how many times I returned to Goodreads checking and re-checking there isn't a previous book. A large part of the plot is basically getting the gang back together. And it felt SO much like I should know the gang that I was completely thrown off and out of the story.

Outside of feeling like not a first book, I generally enjoyed this. I liked Bishop and his merry band of misfits. I liked the mystery and the world Mewha created. I did think things felt a little sketched out, with lots of running here and doing this or that, but not a lot of getting to really know characters or settling into a complex plot. Threats seemed to pop up and disappear, only to be replaced by another feeling equally as random.

I read an ARC, so I can't speak to editing. But the writing is quite readable. This might not top a favorites list, but I'd be happy to read another in the series.

I feel like someone coming late to a party and discovering it was very exciting.
I'm a fan of urban fantasy and supernatural detective and I just discover a new series (and a bought a new book).
The New Orleans setting and the world building are excellent, i like the idea of a covenant binding supernatural forces and the role it plays in the story.
It's fast paced, gripping and full of twists.
Bishop is an excellent character and I loved Ava and Mary.
I can't wait to read another book in this series, this one is excellent.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Thank you to NetGalley and FyreSyde Publishing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Bishop’s Crossing is a great new addition to the Urban Fantasy detective genre. An engaging read from start to finish, filled with the seedy underbelly of magic and interesting twists.
I’m looking forward to what comes next in this exciting new series.

If you like Felix Castor and other magical detectives, this series is a must read.

There's nothing like the supernatural vibes in New Orleans and this book delivered exactly what I was expecting. I didn't really like Bishop at first but he does have a great arc and character development. The other characters however were amazing and I loved them from the start. I had a really good time reading this and can't wait to see more from the author.

I loved this tale of a bar owner/former priest/supernatural who strives to keep his daughter, who is starting to show gifts safe from those who feel anyone with powers is evil. His group of friends, which he had given up, will do anything necessary to protect his little girl. There was excellent world building and the characters had incredible depth. The fact that it takes place in New Orleans, one of my favorite cities, adds to the allure.

Wasn't sure what to expect, but got so much more with this one. A lot of supernaturals, New Orleans setting, witty banter, and of course a bit of romance. Bishop is a hoot, and loved his daughter and Ava of course. Great group of characters and story, although the part with his dad at the end felt like overkill. Otherwise, highly enjoyed this one and hope there are more to come in a series. Highly recommend.

I just finished this book, and boy was I excited. Why, you ask, was I excited about the finishing this? I found another author to follow. Bishop gave up his life working with the supernatural to try and get his family back, but he must go back to that life to save them. This was a wild ride from start to finish, and I loved Bishop and his friends. New Orleans is always a good location to house the supernatural and the author did a great job with making you feel as if you were there. Add to that the engrossing action, and it’s left me hoping that there will be more, and I’ll be reading them if there are. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Enjoyable UF read with a diverse support team for Bishop that should make future stories just as entertaining. There were some angsty moments between many characters, especially with Bishop, which appear to have been resolved which is good. I would hate for these issues to provide unnecessary melodrama in the series.

The story moved along well with a several of surprises. A solid beginning.

I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
