Zee’s second memoir after (Natural Disaster) takes readers further into her mental health journey in a moving and positive look at major factors that have contributed to her issues with depression and suicide attempts, all with an eye towards forwarding our conversations about mental health at a time when so many are in need. It has heart and humor.

I love watching Ginger Zee on Good Morning America. Reading this book is just like sitting and chatting with a good friend. She is open and honest about her past and struggles.

Trigger warning: Eating disorders, rape, abortion, abusive relationships, divorce

This is a fantastic book for anyone who loves Ginger Zee, Weather, and anyone going through the mental health struggle. Zee speaks with truth and honesty and it is refreshing to see a book like this.

I enjoyed GInger Zee's last book, Natural Disaster, and this one is just as raw, honest and emotional. She continues to be honest about who she is, where she came from and how she has coped with such a hard past (rape, divorce, an eating disorder; to name a few). I could not put this down once I started it and have even more respect for her as a woman and a professional.

A highly recommended biography.

Thanks to Netgalley, Ginger Zee and Disney Publishing Worldwide Hyperion Avenue for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A gorgeous, stunningly raw and honest look at the life of a woman we only know from her smile and incredible intelligence on GMA. Behind the smile is a full, flawed, honest woman who is finally not afraid to share her life with everyone.

Beautiful.

I thought this was a good memoir overall. A little disjointed at times but compelling and well written. It delved into a side of Ginger Zee I didn't know - and I will have to read her first memoir as she references it quite a bit here. The story was engaging and I enjoyed reading it a lot. I sped through it since the book felt like she was talking directly to me! She deals with her parents' divorce, her anorexia (though WHY must we include caloric numbers when talking about eating disorders? Soo triggering), her abusive relationship, her sexual assault, and finding her way to expressing her emotions. I could really relate and can see how others might too.

Trigger warning: Eating disorders & mentions of exact calories/calorie counting, rape, abortion, abusive relationships, parents' hard divorce.

This book was received as an ARC from Disney Publishing Worldwide - Hyperion Avenue in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

I am a fan of Ginger Zee and being a mental health victim myself, I could feel her pain and her struggle all through the book. While reading this book I could not help but to notice that no matter what event or circumstance happened to Ginger, she was always surrounded by people. Her friends, loved ones, and even complete strangers so she was never alone. However, I appreciate the courage and bravery Ginger had in opening up and telling her story without any filters because the public needs to know that being a public figure such as America's Premiere Meteorologist comes with a price and so much struggle and pressure is in your head. The one thing I love most of all is that despite all of her struggles, she continues to have a positive outlook on life and continues to move forward with her career and her life. I know a lot of our patrons will learn through Ginger's experiences and hopefully find positivity and hope through their life.

We will consider adding this title to our Biography collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.
