This review is a hot mess, so you are forewarned. Brave New World meets Arc of a Scythe meets Maximum Ride meets Twilight in this book. I was definitely skeeved out by a lot of things, so let's discuss. In book one, there were weird references to Hitler and Aryan supremacy, and in book two, the two Asian characters were described as being Asian because their "eyes tilted up." It really bugs me when white authors use that phrase to describe Asians because we aren't a monolith of slanty-eyed people. As an Asian person, please stop. Thank you. (This also happened in the book Burning Glass, which was it's own hot mess). Also, usually invaders are white colonists, while in this book, the invanders are "dark skinned?" The book is based in the U.S. - San Francisco, New York are mentioned several times, although under the names "San Fraesco" and "Montyorke," so dark skinned invanders simply don't make sense in the context that historically, white colonists pushed Native Americans out of rightfully held land. I'm confused, tbh. The plot and setting felt like a massive conglomeration of random elements, and although it wasn't a hard or confusing book to read, something felt off the entire time I was reading it. I'm having a hard time formulating a rating or even a coherent response to this book, so I'll just thank NetGalley and Emily Colin for the ARC I was provided and be on my way. I'm grateful for the opportunity to review this book and mean no disrespect.

What a sequel! It ended way to quickly! The bombshell dropped as to who is Eva's parentage was interesting, and their future is definitely holding my interest! I hope I don't have to wait long to find out!

I enjoyed the second half of this book immensely. I did take a break after the first chapter and read a different book because I tend to not like the "I'm going to push the person I love away because of ...." away plot line. But the book got very intense and easy to fall back in to. I'm excited to follow Ari and Eva's love story.

More Young Adult than the previous book.

Ari is obsessive, possessive- can he get Eva to choose him? Or will he go down a path to become a villain?

How do you know you’re in love if you’ve never felt it before? If you’ve never had a relationship before? Ari and Eva are free from the Commonwealth, but Eva doesn't explore options for a familiar other than Jaxon. Missed opportunity?

Eva must make a decision- be selfish and choose Ari, or be selfless and help the Brotherhood’s cause. Should she unite the Houses and marry Sebastian?

More secrets are revealed by the Executor.

This second book in the series hits the ground running, picking up where it left us in book 1. Ari and Eva have met new people and while they were hoping to finally be free making their own decisions, Eva's shapeshifter abilities lead to other obligations. The pace remains fast, the chapters are short and makes you want to keep on reading. I liked the character development when it comes to Eva and Ari, they are struggling with following their hearts or dismissing their own feelings to benefit the greater good. I had a little bit of difficulty with the repetitiveness of Eva's pushing and pulling Ari, for someone so strongwilled I felt it was a bit inconsistent to let her follow along so meekly with plans to distance herself from Ari. The explanation about why was solid, but since it was repeated a lot it became irritating to me after a while. This is nitpicking though, cause I could not stop reading so the book kept pulling me in.

I enjoyed myself immensely with this second book and could hardly stop reading. It is really a series worth checking out if you like action, dystopian world, love and character development. What I dislike though is the ending and knowing I have to wait before being able to find out how Eva and Ari will handle the new developments.

I spent my bank holiday Monday sat in the sun, (I know right?! A 'sunny bank holiday' in England should be an oxymoron!) reading this story all-in-one-go. I really enjoyed it. In fact, I preferred it to the prequel,' Sword of the seven sins.'

I thought the pace of the book was spot-on, especially the chapters surrounding Eva's first 'shift.' The use of short chapters gave the event an extra layer of urgency.

The romance was fantastic and I found myself sniffling on numerous occasions! I fully wept in Chapter 37 when Ari said, "I know you'll likely choose him. That I have no right...but I won't touch you, I promise. Just let me be with you like this, if we can't have anything else. Let me imagine enough to take away with me when I go."
My favourite quote from the book was by Ari to Eva:
"Let me tell you about wanting, Eva. The world could burn and the moon go dark and I would still want you. When I fight, you're the strength behind the arm that wields my blade. Eva, I love you. And nothing that happens between us- nothing you say to me-is going to make that stop...So please. Tell me what I have to do - What I have to say - so I won't lose you."

My only criticism would be that, at the beginning, I didn't understand the shifting process. 'Is she a human with the body of an animal, or has she fully transformed into said animal?' I was especially thrown by her first shift in which, "white fur," covered her body, only for it to vanish, and be "replaced with a seal's sleek body that [wore] Eva's face." Later in the book, it became apparent that it was a full body transformation, and that her body was shifting between her different forms at this point. However, at the time, I was confused.

I always get nervous when it comes to sequels because it can be hard to live up to the first book in the series. Siege of the Seven Sins definitely does not disappoint.

The book pics up with Eva’s story exactly where Sword of the Seven Sins leaves off. There is so much character growth not only with Eva, but also with Ari. I have really enjoyed seeing their relationship bloom and grow, especially when obstacles have been put in their way. I’m excited to read the third installment of the series and will eagerly be awaiting its announcement.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Even more action packed than the first, I love the development of the main characters and learning and meeting new ones whilst still finding out more about the world it’s set in
I like that the chapters are on the shorter side so make you want to keep going to see what will happen next. The final chapters were gripping and informative and I can’t wait to read more from this author

Siege of the Seven Sins is one of the books in a stunning new series by Emily Colin. I don’t want to give you any spoilers, so my synopsis is brief. The book opens with an important cast of characters. Ari and Eva, the story’s protagonists have met up with scouts from the Brotherhood. Having escaped from the Executor and the Commonwealth, they believe that the Brotherhood is where they belong. As the first attack hits the group, several other major characters are introduced, Ronan, Jaxon, Mei, Fade and Adrien. Eva has been fighting the knowledge that she is a shapeshifter, appalled that murderous beasts lie inside her; beasts like a wolf, a black panther, something with wings and claws. Jaxon’s skill is in anchoring himself to a shifter and he believes that Eva is his. Ronan leads the Brotherhood’s fighting forces, Mei is a mage and a healer, and the rest are fighters. This is as much as I can tell you about the story without ruining it, but believe me, you absolutely want to go on this journey. It’s full of fantasy, beauty, action, crisis. Siege of the Seven Sins is a thrill ride, exciting fast paced, quick to read and leaving you wanting more. Emily Colin has been generous - she has more books about this adventure are out there waiting for us. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going back to the beginning book, Sword of the Seven Sins to find out how Eva and Ari got into this mess. This book was a pre published book provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This takes up where Sword of the Seven Sins left off, and it hits the ground running. This second installment is a much more exciting and action-propelled story. And while the plot may be a little predictable at times, it definitely makes for an entertaining read. The angst and the yearning between Eva and Ari is palpable, and their struggle to maneuver through the dilemma of what's expected of them and what they desire makes for a deeper story. All in all, a solid, good read!

I was given a copy of this ARC via Netgalley.

I read this and the 1st in the series within a week!!! I can't wait for the 3rd in the series to come out. Pacing of the story was really great and a great continuation of the 1st book.

I was lucky enough to be able to get a copy of this ARC via Netgalley.

I have fallen hook, line, and sinker for this series and I am already looking forward to book three!

I got through this story so much quicker than I did with the first novel. This is the first time in a long time that I have read a full book in one day. No matter the variety of distractions that I had throughout the day, I was continuously taking breaks so I could read this story.

I thought this story was very angsty, and it was very much a fast-paced story. I think this was an excellent continuation from the first book and I would definitely recommend this to anyone and everyone.

This is the follow up to Emily Colin’s first book. I definitely enjoyed it and felt that there was a lot more development and character exploring!

This is Emily Colin’s follow-up to he first novel, Rogue bellators Eva Marteinn and Ari Westergaard have escaped the restrictive world of the Commonwealth and would like nothing more than to leave it behind forever. But for Eva in particular, it’s not that simple. She is the weapon the Commonwealth wants — and they’ll stop at nothing to get her back. For years, Ari has seen Eva as his temptation and his secret, his virtue and his sin. Now that they’re finally free, he wants what he’s been craving — to start a new life with her … together.

It's helpful to have read the first book or it can be confusing. The first book was terrific so it should be read anyways. :) Air and Eva continues to shine. I love how they are growing in this book. The action and suspense are high... A great follow up to the first book.

Thanks to the publisher for providing ARC.
