I always look forward to new books in this series. I love the shifter community and of course all of the antics that Mads, Max and the girls get into. You are immediately drawn into this story and don't want to put it down once you start it. I can't wait for the next book!

This was a rather strange entry into Laurenston's world of shapeshifters and romance. If taken as a complete work in and of itself, it fails quite dramatically. Ito is so dependent on prior knowledge and characters from previous books that once I started reading it, I had to go back and reread several early books. However, in this crazy time that we are living in, when we are all isolated, and suffering from global trauma, a look back at something safe and familiar can be soothing and comforting. Breaking Badger is more of a "Where Are They Now" than a new romance. In fact, the actual romantic couple seem to take up maybe a third of the book. Instead there are call backs to characters from all over the place. So, not for a new or dilattente reader of the Honey badger books or of Laurenston's work, but a literary hug for the long term book lover.

Shelly Laurenston consistently writes entertaining books. They really benefit from being familiar with her previous titles because there all kind of fun Easter eggs hidden in Breaking Badger. I enjoyed the chaos and humor. I would have liked the lead character to be developed more, and their relationship to be developed more.

I have read all SL books. They are all funny and chaotic. This book is no exception. I will note that I found this book almost too chaotic and that the main characters got lost within the book. Just too much going on.

Received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have been reading Shelly Laurenstone's book for a long time now and what I mostly loved about them are they are hilarious. Breaking badger is no different then that. It was hilarious, just badgers doing stupid shits like they always do.

The romance in the book is very minimal in terms with the whole story. I felt like this book was a setup for the next badger line, not really about finn and mad but about their family and the whole mystery of 'who killed dad'. Which I am sure will be revealed in the next books. The romance was like a sprinkle in the whole story. All the characters had something different going on.

I loved the whole MacKilligan family, they are the best. This book had a LOT of characters from former books which I genuinely loved.

SL's book always had strong characters. This is no different. I just wish the ending for this wasn't this abrupt. It felt like a unfinished story.

All in all really liked this. Waiting for the next books!

I love these books. I especially love the fact that SL has seemed to change her focus from more romance based stories to female empowerment and the love of families both by blood and by choice. So there is a “couple” and Finn does a fine job of standing by Mads but their story is in no way the main story. They each have a lot going on separately but manage find a nice balance when circumstances keep throwing them together.
Now I admittedly have the memory of a goldfish….and considering how much I read there is not a chance I can remember every character from every book…and there is a LOT of characters from former books making appearances. I have no idea if this is important to the overall arc of the storyline that was left unfinished….and as far as I can tell there were two important storylines left open. Obviously who murdered the Black Malones father will probably need to play out until the last brother finds his match but if the “Who” behind that opening scene was explained I missed it completely. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Lots of violence so if that’s not your thing….you were warned 😁

Love this series and this author a lot Butt his romance felt less romantic than I’d prefer. it’s more about the MacKillgans and their found family ties at this point than the romance of Mads and Finn. Violently funny, with alot going on, the romance is more the sprinkle than the cake. But if that’s your jam, you may enjoy this as much as I still did.

I really enjoy Shelley Laurenston when I need a light, funny read. The honey badgers are always entertaining and I love having visits from previous characters throughout.

OMG - Shelly Laurenston is the best author and Breaking Badger is another awesome book! This is the fourth book in her Badger series and they are all fantastic. The best part of her books is that Laurenston writes romance books with strong female characters and friendships that are separate and terrific from the romance. Breaking Badger tells the story of Mads Galendotter - her relationship with family and her friends, as well as love interest Finn Malone (cousin of Marcella - Bear Meets Girl book). Mads is a unique person, connected to the MacKilligan badger family through the girls basketball team. Finn and Mads have a delightful, silly and crazy story - they end up being together but all the other characters are still part of there story. I LOL throughout this book and can't wait to hear about Nat (Finn's sister).

Laurenston writes super creative books with strong narrative and strong characters. In addition to these, I highly recommend her Crows series, but you can't go wrong with any Laurenston book!

Breaking Badger by Shelly Laurenston 5 stars (Honey Badger Series)

Honey Badgers, Honey Badgers, Honey Badgers! Yes, it's that time again when we experience the exhilaration and sheer mayhem of Honey Badgers. The series now moves on from the MacKilligan Sisters as the main focus to Max MacKilligan longtime basketball team mates. Mads, a honey badger-hyena hybrid and Finn Malone, a Siberian Tiger (one of the Black Malone's) are the main couple. Their relationship is built with conversations, in between bouts of action and destruction. The story is a bit disjointed for a new reader - you really should read the other Honey Badger books first. In fact, I would start with Bite Me that introduces a Honey Badger main character in this long running series. For a long time reader, the fast pace and multiple plot lines are not a problem. There are few threads introduced that I hope will get resolved in future books. One of the enjoyable parts of these books are glimpses of past characters that provide a update on their lives. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Books for this ARC.

I love this series of books about Honey Badger shifters! This is book 4 in the series and we are following Mads who is a Honey Badger shifter who plays basketball and thats all she really cares about. Well that and her teammates! We first met Mads in book 3 and I am so excited we are getting stories for the girls on the basketball team. Mads and her friends also have a side gig and during one they meet up with the Malone Brothers who are Siberian Tiger Shifters. Mads and Finn keep running into each and soon sparks start to fly between them. I would say that the romance takes a pretty big back seat in this book. I still love this series and always enjoying reading the book and catching up with the characters fro previous books. Highly recommend if you are looking for a fun shifter romance series! Thank you to Kensington Books and Netgalley for my gifted copy for review.

As always, I was delighted to get a copy of a Shelly Laurenston book. It doesn’t matter which series or which pen name (G. A. Aiken) she is using, her books are my go-to favorites. And I absolutely love the honey badgers.

Many of my favorite characters showed up in this book. Charlie is one of my favorites and she was true to form. However, it is the number of newish characters that bothered me. Most, if not all, of them were introduced in the last book: Badger to the Bone. The new characters include four tiger brothers and their hybrid sister and four honey badger hybrid female friends. They’re all great characters, but that was too many personalities for me to keep track of all at once.

Did I enjoy the book? Definitely! Will I read it again? Of course. Is it one of my favorites? Afraid not.

One thing for sure. You really need to re-read Badger to the Bone before this one. You will be totally lost otherwise.

Holy Moly!! Oh My Word!! Goodness Gracious!! Shocking Shifters!! Book Coma!! Rolled on the floor laughing!! Woke the hubby with the giggling!! Stitch in my side and so worth it!!! This is all me during and after reading Breaking Badger, the latest and greatest in the Honey Badger Chronicles.

I have to thank the author for bringing back Dez, Cella and Crusher. It brought back so many wonderful memories of The Pride Series. I know that if Dez pops into a story there are crimes happening and shifter carnage will follow. It was time to grab the popcorn and settle in for an exciting story. AMAZING!!

This is Mads and Finn's romance but Breaking Badger is so much more. Every time I thought things would be settling down and they could relax someone was getting kidnapped, shot at, threatened or sent on a wild goose chase. Making it better it wasn't just centered around Mads. This was an equal opportunity shifter brawl.

Breaking Badger is packed full of action and destruction. I honestly didn't know who was going to be in danger next. LOVED IT!!!! The "you don't have to be blood to be family" dynamics added a lot to the story. The Wisconsin Butchers prove through out the story that they are so much more than a team. They may not want to admit it but they are the best family.

Now the only problem is that I am finished. I want to just sit here and wait for the next story. With the Honey Badgers I know that it will be worth the wait.

Much in line with the other books in this series. It's a nice continuation and a bit more nuanced on character growth. I enjoy series that let me follow characters and this was as I expected.

Do you like batshit, kick ass crazy leading ladies? Then you must already be a fan of Shelly Laurenston. This is the fourth book in her Honey Badger Chronicles and she switched the dial on full for the craziness.

Breaking Badger is about Mad (Max’s Basketball Team Mate/Close Friend) and Finn (Max’s half sisters brother) yup. There’s a lot going on in the story plot, but it’s entertaining and we see characters from previous books that add a layer to the story telling.

We still hate Max’s father ! (😂 even though he doesn’t appear in the book) and we add Mad’s Mother and Grandmother to the ‘hate list’ for just being themselves.

It’s an enjoyable read, possible a little behind the dedicated books for Charlie, Stevie and Max’s but that’s down to how well developed their characters are.

If you are a veteran of this and the Pride series, you'll probably remember the giddy cry of Kyle in Bite Me:
“Kyle clapped his hands together and turned in a goofy circle. “I’m so excited!” he cheered. “Honey badgers! Honey badgers! Honey badgers!”.
Yep, that's me every time I am about to start a new book of the Honey Badger Chronicles series.
In this book, we have the MacKilligan's shenanigans but the focus is centred on Max's basketball team (I soooo enjoyed the initial flashback to the moment they met, I thought I could really do with more of that) and especially on Mad. Oh, and let's not forget the Black Malones. I don't want to say more about the plot, as always with Shelly Laurenston's books is intense and multilayered.
If you are a reader of this shifter's world Laurenston has created (we have subtle cameos of beloved characters we all know and miss, but they don't rob the protagonism to the current stars of the show. Sometimes they don't even appear by their name, but we know who they are, oh, we do know them) I don't have much to tell you but trust Shelly Laurenston, she doesn't drop the ball.
If you are new to this, ok, maybe it would be easier to start at the beginning, but if you are not afraid to start in media res, I won't spoil a thing, I'll only tell you you'll find hilarious situations and characters, a world of shifters with strong values, shifter sports, scorpions, venom, baking, oh and Vikings, this time there are Vikings too.

I loved the book, it is not yet out and I can't wait for the next one.

Shelly Laurenston has done it again I adore her books and I read this in just over a day, I’ve got a book hangover but I don’t care.
We’ve had McKilligan sisters stories and now Shelly has moved onto Max’s basketball teammates the first being Mads who is also a hybrid crossed with hyena.
We get to see initially how all the team got together as friends as such and helps understand the dynamic of the group.
We come upon them all on an island outside of New York and they run into the Malone brothers trying to hunt down their fathers killer.
A thank you by the team to the brothers ends up with the brothers evicting them rudely from their home which unfortunately ends up wrong for them as they need Max’s honey badger connections to find out what happened to their father as none of the Malone’s want to help them as they are the Black Malone’s only for their black pelt.
You get to see the byplay between the team and how they interact with each other and how Mads has how to survive with her hyena family.
A great book full of action and retribution done magnificently by Charlie as ever and the indestructibility of honey badgers.
A great story well worth the read

Another great read from Shelly, I loved Mads and Finn. There is always drama and adventure when Honey Badgers are involved, adding the Malone tigers certainly took it up a notch. This book was fast paced and has amazing characters. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Thank you so much Kensington and NetGalley for giving me this book to read in exchange for an honest view.

This book is amazing!!!. We read about Max's team for a few books now and they are very interesting. I am glad that Shelly Laurenston decided to expand the series to add them in so we can get the back story!!!!

When the team finds themselves in trouble they are rescued by none other than Finn Malone and his brothers. However, after the team tries to say thanks the badgers are rudely ejected from Finn's home, the Malones find out Honey Badgers are the only ones who can help him solve a family tragedy.

This book ended with some great setups for furthering some of the plots involved, ensuring that we will see many of these characters again. I am thrilled to know there will be more fun in the future.

The Honey Badgers are back and no one is safe. Breaking Badger is Mad’s story. Mad is one of Max’s basketball teammates. Their team is in the playoffs, someone is trying to kill them, and Mad’s grandmother has died. We find out that Mad’s family was not very nice to her so she lived with her grandmother. Max’s sister Nat Malone is coming into her honey badger powers. Nat’s brother Finn wants to find out who killed his father. Finn and Mad hook up. Mad buys a house in the same neighborhood as the MacKilligan sisters. There are the various cast of hybrid shifters constantly providing action in Breaking Badger. Something is always happening and we are treated to globe trotting shifters. I love this world that Shelly Laurenston has created and when I grow up, I want to be a honey badger.

PS: I think Dee-Ann Smith (Big Bad Beast, Pride Series #6) has met her match in Charlie MacKilligan. I need to go back and read the Pride Series.

5 stars. Yes you need to read this series. Start with Hot and Badgered.
