This story was well-told and engaging throughout. I think it will definitely find its right audience and continue to inspire.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me this eARC to review.

The artwork in this graphic novel is absolutely gorgeous, the style feels magical which really fits the story.

The story was a bit confusing at times but I feel like it helped as a majority of the book is vague and mysterious due to the protagonist not knowing who they were. A key part of the plot is them trying to figure out who they are while they are being hunted by enemies.

the artwork is simply STUNNING! Wow, I wish I could have the physical copy on my hands and just admire the art.

As far as the story goes, I was pleasantly surprised as I picked this one up on a whim! The combination of both art and plot worked magnificently in my humble opinion and I did not notice it was a translation until I read more about the people who are behind this graphic novel.

Recommend it for young adults to early 20s as I think that will appeal to the age group best!

The only thing I am unsure of and knocked this book to 4 instead of 5 stars was the ending. Unless there is a sequel in the works?

thank you Netgalley for providing me this e.copy of Brindille. I truly appreciate my reading experience with it!

I’m not sure what exactly happened in Brindille. It starts out really good, a bit vague but I can handle that at the beginning of a story. The panels of this graphic novel start with gorgeous forest art. Our heroine is mysterious but interesting… and so it goes along. Then somewhere around issue #3 things start to happen with almost no context. I felt like I had missed something numerous times to throughout to the last issue in this collection (#8). I flipped back a couple times in case I was just tired and missing details but they literally just aren’t there.

It’s too bad the plot and information is lost as the art is wonderful. I loved how panels were very distinct in colour tones. When it was the war or enemy the panels were very dark, heavy in blues and reds. Whereas our forest panels (mainly featuring Brindille) were green and yellow, bright and filled with hope.

If only I could have figured out more of the storyline. It’s almost like the creative team was told in issue 3 or 4 that they had less time to tell the story than expected; so they panicked and cut out too much? I’m not sure what happened except that it just fell apart for me. So sad as I think there was real potential here.

Please note: I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is an honest and unbiased review.

I liked this one, but it wasn't my favorite in terms of story content.

Art style - 100% loved. The colors and illustrations are beautiful.

The story follows a girl who wakes up surrounded by strangers after being rescued from something she doesn't remember. All she knows is that there was a fire and a wall and maybe a battle? But everything else is gone.

She stays with the strangers until one evening they abandon her without notice. She wakes up alone and stumbles out into the forest to try to find her way. The forest is dangerous. There are beasts and shadows after her at every turn, but she finds companionship in a lone wolf (who honestly looks more like a fox to me but not important). She and the fox flee together and work to escape the shadows and figure out who the girl (the wolf/fox calls her Twig), truly is.

I did have a hard time feeling out the age that the narrative was geared towards. At some points it felt like it was geared towards young readers and at other times it felt like it was for older readers.

I did like that at the very end you find out that she is the soul of a fallen warrior. It is interesting that the warrior himself was male, but his soul inside was a tiny glowing girl. This could be a statement towards many things. That women are strong and men should be only too happy to learn that their strength is that of a girl's/woman's. It could be a statement about gender itself. I am not quite sure what exactly the message is, but I like where it is going.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Brindille is a stunning graphic novel about a young girl who has escaped a fire and woken up amongst a village of people with no knowledge of who she is or where she has come from. The girl longs to know these things and tries to leave and find out. The villagers are scared of the wrath of the shadow demons chasing the girl and abandon her. The girl goes in search of discovering who she is and meets a fox who is there to help protect and guide her.
This book is a beautiful mythical type the full of beautiful illustrations that such you right into the story.
I was confused by the ending as to what happens to the girl, but apart from this really enjoyed this graphic novel!

The art is so gorgeous! I really enjoyed following the story, even when I figured out that it was mostly a bit metaphor, but I was ultimately a bit disapponted by the allegorical nature of it all.

Thank you NetGalley and Publisher for a copy of this to give an honest review! (Apologies it took so long!)

I am usually drawn to a graphic novel or manga at first by the art style, and the illustrations in this novel were stunning! I felt I could really connect with the character's emotions, and the atmosphere of the world shone through well.

The plot was engaging and fast-paced, though it was a little confusing in places. It didn't affect the overall story though, and I ended up rather enjoying it!

I'd recommend this for anyone looking to get into graphic novels and wanting a quick and beautiful read to start off with.

I read this book as an ARC provided by Netgalley and am deeply grateful. The premise of the story is a girl on a journey of self discovery after she washed up with no memory of who she is or how she comes to be there.

I'm enjoyed many things about this graphic novel. The illustrations are beautiful and emotive. They really draw you into the story. Each panel is descriptive of the phrase, "A picture is worth a thousand words." The story itself is a take on a journey of self discovery, and was refreshing because of the way the realization dawns on Twig.

*Not sure why my original review got deleted, but I'm reviewing again because I really enjoyed this story.

Thank you, NetGalley for giving me this piece of art in exchange for my honest review!

Here we go! First of all, I love the style of the drawings and seeing different creatures from that world. Also, as a person who cannot remember the character's name even my life depends on it, the fact that there are almost any names made me more than happy! The mystery element starting from the first page lasts long and figuring out what's going on is only possible on the last few pages. That made me turn page after page (I had to prepare a presentation so I wanted just to have a peek but NO!). I just simply have to finish it in one sitting!

The only negative point I can point at is that there're lots of creatures and obviously they have unique traits but we cannot see them or their undermeanings!

After all, if you like fast-paced, a little bit in the eerie side comic books then it's perfect for you! Oh and it's appropriate for +14

This was an interesting read. The main character Brindle has no memory of her life before or where she came from, other than she escaped a forest fire. When she is found and rescued by fairylike creatures they have no answers to her questions and are reluctant to take her back into the forest, where it is full of danger.
I found this tale beautifully illustrated but a little confusing and jarring in places. The story seems to jump around and the ending for me brought up more questions than were answered.
Still a gorgeously illustrated fantasy, with high detail and likeable characters.

I wish the story hadn't progressed so quickly, that the plot could have slowed down to allow for further development, growth and explanation. I loved the atmosphere of this, and how the art was able to convey so much emotion and feeling.

I found it to be very confusing at times, the complexity of the main character's situation only growing as the story progressed. Despite the plot not making sense at some points, the artstyle of this graphic novel is magnificent and lush.

I think that although the storyline was confusing and jarring, and the ending left me with so many unanswered questions, the writers accomplished what they set out to do. I was pulled in to the story and drawn to our main character and her companion even without much explanation. The ending was satisfying and left me smiling.

I recommend giving this a go for the art alone, especially for anyone looking for a quick and atmospheric graphic novel to sink into for an hour or so. It was brief, but touching!

Brindille is a graphic novel that is enchanting with suggestive drawings and a captivating story.
Focused on a girl who, having lost her memory, finds herself in a village after escaping a forest fire. In search of answers she meets a fox ready to help her, so begins her adventure but above all the journey to get to know herself.

The strong point of this graphic novel are certainly the drawings, simply stunning, so detailed that they are able to perfectly accompany the enchanting story of Brindille.
A story that, even with some flaws, including a little confusion, is always captivating and intriguing!

A perfect read for anyone looking for a quick and fantastic read, with wonderful designs to get lost in.

I've always liked books about stolen memories and how the character tries to make sense of what he remembers. This one has a magical twist to it, that I didn't see coming.

The artwork is beautiful, I would've love to read more of that story.

Many thanks to Magnetic Press for the complimentary e-copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Thank you, Diamond Book Distributors and NetGalley, for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Not only did this graphic novel have beautiful art, but the plot also took me by surprise which I absolutely love. It was adventurous, you saw a scared young girl, Twig, who has no idea who she is and goes through so much and experiences a long journey. The ending completely blew my mind, I never saw it coming. The friendship between the wolf and Twig girl is very heartwarming and ideal. The wolf is always there for her, even in spirit and tries everything to guide, help, and prepare her for what is to come. Even though I felt that the story line went a little too fast, it was endearing and enjoyable, with me constantly turning the page. My favorite part about this graphic novel is the self-realization that it is within a person.

French comics tell some very interesting stories and have a set of art styles that I don't typically see in US comics these days, and that is very much the case in this fantasy story. There are some great allegorical elements and a sense of utter bafflement (matching the character's fish out of water confusion) that really keeps the story interesting. While the ultimate payoff didn't work for me, I love the art and loved the journey.
