I read this book in two days, consumed by every page...
Little Miss Fortune is a twisted tale where reality is blurred with murderous fantasies and impulses of revenge...
The characters are expertly drawn and the story played like a film in my head, a credit to the author's skills for setting a scene and bringing characters to life.
I don't want to say anymore without giving the plot away: you have to read it to experience it. I wouldn't be surprised if this novel ends up as a screen adaptation on TV.

A recipe of suspense and dark romance dominates this book. I'm not usually sold by romance stories, but the twisted and dark plot kept this one intriguing. I found it didn't follow the description, however it's a very worthwhile read for anyone looking for a thrill

This is story is basically a take on the Jon Benet Ramsey case from the point of view of the perpetrator. Damon is a would-be filmmaker. While it is true he doesn't have an easy life, that doesn't excuse his actions. While the author tries to portray him as sympathetic because of his horrible life which causes him to have a psychological break and want to act out his terrible revenge fantasy instead of just spinning it into a screenplay, this does not really mitigate his actions in any way. They are still appalling. Damon is not all that likable to begin with. None of the characters in the book are all that likable. The only reason to read this book is morbid curiosity as to what may have happened in the Jon Benet Ramsey case although the scenario presented in this story is highly unlike.

"I am not a big fan of romance, but this book mixed romance with a deep-seated psychological of the main character, Damon, who really needs help! As things go along in the story, and I am warning you....this is a dark romance story that is not for the faint of heart.....it is also a suspense story in its own way. The ending is mind-blowing. I read this book under the title of Forty Pounds of Flesh. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book from NetGalley."

I was expecting more from this book. I thought I was getting a story like JonBenet. I didn't get that. It felt nothing like her story, I could hardly pay attention and was bored most of the time. I wasn't impressed. I wanted to DNF it, but I pushed through. I still didn't enjoy it. Hopefully, someone else likes it more, it just wasn't my cup of tea, and that's okay. Not every book is for everyone! I hope to see more from this author in the future.

I struggled with this book. The synopsis said it echoed the story slightly of the kidnap of the pageant beauty child star Jon-Benet but only literally the last chapter and epilogue even touched on it.
Quite a depressing and un engaging read. Unlikeable characters and I felt no connection with any of them.

I really tried.

The book began with Damon trying to be what his father wants him to be. He only wants to please him but keeps failing. His father's suicide turns his world upside down. Soon he finds out that his father is not his father, he is the product of an assault on his mother. She had always wondered but never tried to find out if Russ, Damon's father, was his biological father..

From there the book went downhill for me. I tried to read it, but just couldn't get interested. Technically I "read" every page, but have no idea what happened. I will try to read again and amend my review if I can.

I was given the opportunity to read this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Sans Emmert’s Little Miss Fortune is a twisted tale of love, deception, and the blurring of lines between reality and what a read it was. Not my usual read but once I begun there was no stopping me. Fabulous writing and great characters. Definitely will be looking out for more books by this author in the future ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
