Based on the description, I expected this novella to be dark and sexy. It wasn’t. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but I do think it’s a good idea to manage expectations going into it. Ultimately, the story ended up being a bit like cotton candy. It was light and fluffy, but didn’t have a lot of substance. The characters are not fleshed out (which is understandable given the length of the book), but they are easy to get to know and are quite likable. The plot (yes, we’ll call it that) is simple and to the point. That being said, cotton candy is a treat, as is this story. It reads a little young, which makes it a good palette cleanser between long books, or ones with heavy content. As an on-going series it can be fun.

This was a nice breezy novella. Despite being so short, I really feel like the relationship developed organically. Even the way the problems with the shop worked out was well developed. I think my biggest complaint is half the story is Faye tripped over something only to be caught by Jasper. It's cute the first time, but really annoying when it happens 3-4 times, especially when the book is only 70something pages. There's other ways to get two characters to have a conversation

The storyline’s not engaging enough. And there’s no chemistry or sexual tension between characters.

This book left me confused. Sorry. I guess it’s not for me.
