When I started this book I realised I had read it last year, but the book had once again held my interest so i I continued reading it. I found the review I had given in 2020 hadn’t changed so I have copied and pasted it.

It’s so hard to write anything about this book without giving one of the twists away.
Little Jenny disappeared 12 years ago when she was just 6 years old. She disappeared while on the way to a play date with her friend just 2 houses away. Now she has arrived back after a harrowing 12 years of sexual and physical abuse. Her brother Ben isn’t convinced it is her and is distant and moody, spaced out on weed and drugs. Her parents however are overjoyed to see her and welcome her back with open arms. It’s soon apparent however that everyone in the family has secrets and Jenny may in fact be in danger.
I enjoyed this page turner. A lot of it is quite predictable (especially if you have read Josephine Teys Brat Farrar) but there are enough deviations on the twist to keep you reading. Great stuff.

What a rollercoaster! This book was brilliant and I couldn't put it down! I haven't read anything like it and while I had my theories, the twists and turns kept coming!

It was really well written and although some elements of the book were quite distressing to read, it was handled well by the author. Every time you uncovered another part of the story, you were left guessing about lots of other things, which made it a captivating and thrilling read.

The story is unpredictable and even though I thought I had figured it out, there was still more to come! Recommend a read!

Twisty, creepy, dark, just three of the words that would use to describe this book
Some of it as other readers have said is a bit unbelievable but it is intriguing enough to put this aside and just carry on,a quick read that pulls you in and keeps you there

At first I thought this was going down a well worn track of missing child thrillers but I was wrong. It is far better than others in the genre and the twists were totally unforeseen. The tension builds as the truth begins to emerge and it wasn't what I expected.

A wonderfully written thriller about the disappearance of a young girl that is miraculously returned to her family years later, but not all as it seems...

I have read and reviewed this for Netgalley already. I hadn't realised this when I requested a copy. Sorry

Is Safe realistic? No. Is Safe interesting? Yes.

Throw your believability away, you don’t need it for this book. Once you get past that you really begin to enjoy this story. It’s full of nasty characters and nasty things. It takes a lot to shock me but Safe really did!
