This book introduced me to lots of new companies that are doing great work in the neuro space. Its always interesting to know whats on the horizon and then imagine how the future is going to be loaded with that.

The five Forces That Change Everything is a walk through 5 major categories shaping our collective future.
The book is very well designed with an ability to understand as the author calls waves of evolution in each of the categories. The author uses a very easy method to do this with current events, history, limitations, threats, and challenges to each of the five. One that caught my interest was the Bio force with ideas of smart drugs, energy boosters, and super supplements for living longer, increasing mental and physical energy levels for the ability to increase human potential. He then provides the risks, challenges, and discussions we should be having with each of these five forces. Also, linking each category with the others in synergistic ways that could allow people to see again or for the first time through Artificial Sensory perception. I believe this will allow us to separate hype from reality while reducing anxiety over these changes by well informed meaningful discussion rather than rejecting change or radically adopting something without eyes wide open.

You should probably skip this book. I almost always shun efforts to peer into our future as a civilization since the author is most likely only wrong. Moreover, this book made very little lasting impression on me -- I have already forgotten the five forces that Mr. Hoffman contends will shape our future.

This is a quick tour of some of the latest cutting-edge research and development around the world. It's pretty high-level, just a step beyond reading headlines to keep up with the field. The five "forces" remind me of the old Timothy Leary SMI^2LE acronym, plus two. The author had a good idea but please, next time I'd .like more depth with the subjects.
