This was such a charming friends to romance story. There is a mystery involved which gives the plot some depth. Honey and Mathias have background and a special relationship.
Many thanks to Breaking Night Press and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Who doesn't love a Katie Mettner romance? Like many of her other titles, Honeybees and Sexy Tees features a character with a disability. I won't spoil the particular disability portrayed, but I do want to mention how sensitively it was handled. It's always obvious that the author does her research.

As for the romance, I'm a sucker for the friends-to-lovers trope, especially when the characters were childhood friends. There's a layer of emotional intimacy you don't necessarily get with other love stories. My word, Honey and Mattie were adorable!

This is the second book in the Butterfly Junction series.

This book centers around Honey Blois and Mathais Jorgensen. Honey has always loved Mathais since she was eight and he found her in a park, then took her home to his parents. Honey did not have a good upbringing with parents more involved with themselves. They weren't even invested in coming up with a name for their newborn daughter and decided on Honey after picking up a packet of honey.

Mathais along with his parents took Honey under their wings and looked after her, often spending out of their own pockets for her care. She became a daughter to them. Honey and Mathais consider each other to be best friends.

Honey is about to walk into work when she decides she can no longer take working alongside Mathais. There is an undercurrent following the letter she wrote when she felt she'd lose her life to blackmailers, one where she expressed her love of Mathais. A letter that he read.

Following an upset, Honey agrees to speak with Mathais and finds herself parked in front of a restaurant, The Apple Orchard, to meet him. After Mathais encounters Honey having some sort of spell, he hands her a card for a doctor to go see, his services already paid for. Honey is not amused, she wants to stand on her own two feet and not rely on the Jorgensens' financial support. Her reaction is not what Mathais expects and after she calls him a jerk, he breaks some sad news. Mathais shares more news that will change Honey's life.

Part of the surprise involved gifting Honey her dream home, and after a tragic incident, she is left with no other choice but to move in. Little by little she comes to realize that she loves the home, and sharing it with Mathais is leading her to question where their relationship is going. Honey is going to have to decide if she can hang on for a little longer.

I enjoyed Honey and Mathais' story. It reminds me a little of Cinderella, where the damsel in distress is saved by her white knight. I will say that Mathais' constant reference to best friend drove me nuts because it was obvious Honey was more than a best friend, but the reasoning behind why it took so long for him to arrive at the conclusion made sense. My favorite quote in the book is: "Being a better man means learning to see other people's side of things and offering grace in the same way you'd want for yourself."

I received an ARC from NetGalley via Breaking Night Press and I have voluntarily reviewed this book.

Honeybees & Sexy Tees is the second title in the Butterfly Junction series, and although I haven’t yet read the first in the series (that’s on my to-do list) I was able to enjoy Mathias’ and Honey’s story without any trouble at all. Oh, sure, there were probably nuances (there is that mystery to learn more about) relating to the series overall that I missed, but it did not affect the enjoyment level of their story for me. I try to read in order but time wasn’t on my side for this one.

I love a friends-to-lovers romance and Honeybees & Sexy Tees is that but so much more as both Honey and Mathias have not only trust issues but other baggage from their pasts that will get in their way. Honey had an abusive childhood, the memories of which are always with her, and a medical condition that affects her to this day. She is strong in so many ways that it doesn’t take long to see beyond any frailties you might think about Honey. She is determined, has strengths that she hasn’t even begun to draw on yet, and is ready to move on since it seems the man she’s come to love will only ever see her as a friend and nothing more. She confessed her feelings in a letter… and nothing’s ever been said so what else is she to think?

Along the way to becoming successful enough to be able to afford his lifestyle, Mathias might have forgotten the dreams he shared with his childhood friend Honey. His desire to do good for himself, his family, his friends, and his community might have sounded good as a kid but the grownup man has forgotten those vows… until recently. Having just read a letter that Honey wrote to him Mathias has begun rethinking what he’s doing with his life… and how to keep Honey in it. But it’s not going to be easy reinventing himself or to undo the hurt he’s unwittingly caused to the woman he’s come to love as far more than just a friend.

Add in some outside forces, that mystery, familiar faces, and you’ll find a very good story. I was aware of Honey’s past, and Mathias’ part in, well, saving her in many ways when they were children but it wasn’t overpowering, just like knowing that Honey faced medical issues wasn’t overpowering either… they were simply parts of who she is, they didn’t define her. I saw a strong woman who is in love with a man who needed a smack upside the head to get his attention (in the kindest of intentions sort of way) before he truly saw his future standing right in front of him. I liked them both and together they made a powerful couple. I need to read Butterflies and Hazel Eyes then I can keep an eye out for the (hopefully) next story in this series.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are my own – good, bad, or indifferent. I was not financially compensated for this review and no expectation of a positive review was promised.*

Nothing seems to be going well for Honey. She walked away from her job, the man she loves won't acknowledge that and she's having health issues that keep piling up.
Mathias, the man she's loved since childhood has money to spend and spend he does but with reason.
As the days pass and Honey's health takes a toll on her, Mathias is by her side.
As things heat up and old foes come back to claim what they think is theirs, Honey is kidnapped.
She doesn't have her medicine, no one knows where she is, what will happen to her. Where is Mathis?
This book was enjoyable.
You definitely want to read this.

Extremely sweet small town friends to lovers romance. I loved how Honey wanted to be an independent strong woman, after all of the abuse in her life; she eventually realized that people need others to help them be strong in so many ways. Honey wants nothing more than to give up her dependence on Mathias, because she can not deal with the pain of him not loving her. One of the parts I enjoyed other than the developing romance was the mystery of what happened to Mathias' friend and how it played into the small town. There were so many sweet romantic moments, one of my favorites was Charity and Gulliver’s wedding. I highly recommend this book, especially if you enjoy sweet romances with a bit of mystery.

Honey and Matthias both have had rough pasts to deal with. Once childhood friends until things take a turn. As time goes by, they realize that friendship might be worth rekindling. After all, now adults, they've both lived life, realized material things aren't the cure for a broken heart, experienced many things and wonder if just maybe things might be different now.

A sweet, heartwarming story. It deals with some tense, emotional childhood moments, friendships, secrets and surprises along the way.

The second book of the series, but easily read as a stand alone. The Lady of The Lake always has a way of soothing painful hearts. It's a sweet friends to sweethearts and second chances story.

This is the second book I read in the series. I was very excited and it was not a delusion, it was such a dreamy book again. And more. Couse it is a romance but it has some mistery and crime involved.

Honey and Mathias have known each other for 20 years. They are best friends. Trust with life the other. And they are in love? Well that is a little more secret. It is not easy mix work, friendship and take a step more to confess your love.

I do not want to honey anyone in a bad way. So I can not tell more. But it is really a nice consequnce to the story of Charity and Gulliver. I highly recomend both. A journey of trust with Honey and Mattie/Mathias/Matthias Jørgensen will take you to the magic Superior Lake and will not leave you.

Special thanks to Netgalley and Breaking Night Press for an Arc.

This was a really sweet story. It is the second in a series, but I read it as a stand alone, and had no problem keeping up. Both Honey and Mathias are great characters, who both have some issues to work through. Both characters struggle with their past, and feelings of not being good enough, something a lot of us can relate to. There were some great side characters, I loved Charity and Mathias’ parents. I enjoyed how Honey having a disability was portrayed as a small part of her character, and there being so much more to her. And I enjoyed the element of mystery of what happened to Mathias’ friend that ran throughout the story. This was a really sweet hopeful read. I received an ARC on netgalley, and this is my honest review.

I could not get invested in this romance. I really wanted to but there was so much extra fluff that I couldn't wrap my head around it.

This is Honey and Mattie’s story. Honey has been in love with Mattie for over twenty years and has finally decided to move on. But now all the stress is causing her more neurological problems. Can she be strong and let go of him?
Mattie has been a playboy for a very long time and definitely does not deserve Honey. Can he finally grow up and be the man she deserves?
I loved watching the two grow, bond and fight. Lol. I could literally feel all of Honeys emotions, absolutely loved her.

Book 2 in this series focuses on the story of Honey and Mathias. I liked the characters and the mystery aspect in the story. I appreciate the way Honey's seizure disorder was handled with honesty and heart. It is a good love story.

Very sweet small town romantic read. This is the second in the series but can be read as a standalone. Honey is still overcoming obstacles and effects of the abuse she suffered as a child but continues to persevere by putting her self thru college while working a full time job . The only thing she can't seem to overcome is her love for her childhood friend and savior Mathias who does not seem to return her feeling. Honey wants to move and stop working for Mathias because she does not think her returns her feeling. Mathias is a billionaire playboy that never seems to want to settle down by partying and going thru women but after being shown a letter Honey wrote professing her love for him starts to try to change back to who she fell in love with and win her love back. Honey is very distrustful and struggled with wanting to accept the changing Mathias. Honey still struggles also with serious medical issues but author Katie Mettner does a great job writing realistically about the disease and side effects of Honey's condition. Really enjoyed reading a love story with some of the issues that really happen in real life. Highly recommend.
