I really liked this book and I do recommend it.

It’s a nice family drama with three different points of view. Of Alison, her brother in law and her niece as they all struggle with different things. Alison struggles with recovering from a surgery that went off course at the hands of her brother in law while struggling with her sexuality. The brother in law, Grant, struggles with an addiction and his daughter being a teenager.

I liked this book, it was inspirational and I absolutely loved the writing and set up. The author uses two different timelines for the characters and they’re just amazing.

Now my problem with this book is the ending. I’m not a big fan of infidelity in characters but Alison’s struggle with her surgery and sexuality managed to strike a chord and make her my favorite character in this book. That being said I didn’t feel like she got the ending she deserved. Grant safeguarded himself and his daughter, Sadie, stood up for herself but what about Alison? She seemed greatly unhappy- sure she got her job back and recovered almost fully but is she happy? Also Sadie got off too good with the role she played in almost ruining her friend’s life in my opinion.

I felt as though the ending was supposed to be symbolic and meaningful but it was just unfulfilling

4 stars! Amazing writing but the ending wasn’t very satisfying to me.

I do recommend, as I said it’s an amazing family drama.

At the end of the ARC the author has some “book club questions” and one of them was about if this book was to be a tv show who would we cast. I can totally see this being a tv show, it reminded me a lot of this show on ABC called “A million little things” in terms of mood. That being said I would totally cast James Roday Rodriguez as Grant if this was ever a TV show.
