*Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: 100 Real-Life Tales of Black Girl Magic* opens with a foreword from CaShawn Thompson, the woman who coined the phrase "Black Girls are Magic" and went on to explain how she defined magic in the way that she watched the women around her growing up. I loved learning more about all these people and their Black Girl Magic in a fun, easy-to-read format as I unwound from a long day of work.

I loved the way that there were women from all over the world who choose to do all sorts of things, from potters to yoga teachers to politicians to mushroom farmers to scientists to midwives - the message really is that you can come from anywhere, do anything you want, and excel.

The art, as usual, was stunning. This is another fabulous book from Rebel Girls.

Thank you to Rebel Girls and NetGalley for the ARC.

This book was such a fun read for both my kids and I! The art work is beautiful and I really enjoyed learning about many people that I had never even heard of before! I love that this book represents Black women all over the globe and highlights some great role models. who persevered through their own unique challenges. The excerpts for each woman are short, only a page, which is a nice introduction to many women and provides enough information to further research ones that are of particular interest. The book contains women born from the 1500s all the way to 2010, though most are born in the 1900s, and their careers and interests are so varied that I feel everyone could find a woman (or many) they relate to or really would like to know more about. We have already had to google a few new ones that we learned about! Great book!

Another wonderful addition in the Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls series. These are the kinds of heroes our children should learn about. There are so many inspirational stories here. I wasn't aware of quite a few and got to learn a lot.

A wonderful collection!

What an absolutely beautiful book! The illustrations are bold and eye catching. I loved how the stories of each woman/women featured are short. They kept my daughter's attention and made the perfect nighttime stories, because we could read a couple at a time. The diversity of the women included in this book is fantastic. This is definitely a book I would have on my shelf for my daughter to read.

I always enjoy the installments in the 'Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls' and this was no exception. This was a wonderful collection of stories featuring 100 Black women who changed the world and achieved extraordinary things.

There was a great range of stories and achievements from all over the world featured in this book and it was an entertaining and educational read. The artwork was absolutely gorgeous.

I really enjoyed this and was fascinating to learn about these women.

Thanks to Netgalley for an ARC of this in exchange for an honest review.

My major criticism of this book is the same as the other Rebel Girls books, the stories are shallow and not particularly interesting for young readers. However, I LOVE the art and variety of those profiled. This is a great book to generate a list of amazing black women to read more about. I just wish there was more substance in this volume itself.

Another wonderful book in the goodnight girls series telling the stories of many diverse and wonderful strong, black role models for our children. This book will give young black girls people to aspire to be like, let them set they can be whatever or whoever they want to be but it will also hopefully inspire those who aren't black and help them understand the richness of a diverse multicultural community.

This collection of tales about black, empowered women is a must read for everyone! I loved the collection starting from the drawings that accompany each of the biographies inside of the book. It has a great mix from different fields from astronomy, sports, arts, music, you name it. I really liked the queer representation inside of the collection of biographies. I'm a huge fan of this series especially as a teacher I feel like provinding kids both boys and girls with these type of non-fiction books is super important. I highly recommend.

A brilliantly written book filled with Inspirational women who are mathematicians, actors, architects, motorcyclists, wrestlers to name a few. Breaking gender stereotypes and showing our girls we can be who we truly want to be. Each page is dedicated to one of these inspirational women and then a beautiful illustration of her on the page opposite. A must for every bookshelf!

Rebel Girls has another winner here. The newest book showcases 100 black women and girls who will inspire anyone who reads about them. Once again, each person is allotted a two-page spread, one side a short biography and the other side a lovely illustration (all artists are also women of color). The biographies are written in simple terms, suitable for young readers. Some words are highlighted and explained in a glossary (“sharecropper” is one example). Among the widely-known women profiled (widely-known, meaning known by this non-POC woman of retirement age) are young poet Amanda Gorman, singer Aretha Franklin, author Octavia Butler, runner Florence Griffith Joyner, journalist Ida B. Wells, and actress Viola Davis. Among the not-known-to-me women/girls are Angela James (hockey player), Anne-Marie Imafidon (mathematician), Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka (wildlife veterinarian and conservationist), Joy Buolamwini (computer scientist), and Nzinga of Ndongo and Matamba (queen!). The women are from many different countries as well as from The United States.

I adored the heck outta this beautiful book. I read a few entries a night to my two daughters aged 7 and 5 and they had something to say about almost every bad ass woman. Questions and exclamations were made. Some of the women I had previously heard of but I definitely learned about quite a few more every few pages.
Also, the art was gorgeous I wanna buy my own copy so I can plaster the art all over my walls.

I loved the diversity of stories and illustrators. Some of the stories could have been a bit more fleshed out but otherwise it was good. It's more of a book where you read one story per day instead of reading it back to back.

As with all books from the Rebel Girls series, this latest installment features a brief recap of the 100 featured women. I hadn't heard of Black Girl Magic but there is also an explanation given by CaShawn Thompson who initially came up with the saying 'Black Girls Are Magic' that would evolve to #BlackGirlMagic.

I truly believe that the Rebel Girls books belong in every school and in truth every child's bookshelf because without fail, there is at least one girl featured that the reader will relate to. 𝘎𝘰𝘰𝘥Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: 100 Real-Life Tales of Black Girl Magic is no exception and in the wake of the murder of George Floyd, the Black Lives Matter movement and the many people who took the knee around the world, these 100 women and many others, deserve to be known about.

From the poet Amanda Gorman whose reading of her work at the 2021 presidential inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, to pilot Bessie Coleman or activist Erika 'Ika' Hügel-Marshall the 100 women who are featured in this fantastic, vibrantly illustrated book have diverse backgrounds and careers, but all were united in fighting to be acknowledged regardless of gender and race. It is a book filled with inspiration for the reader to not settle for anything other than their heart's desire.

I had previously been disappointed by the lack of transgender representation in the Rebel Girls books I have had the opportunity to review and I was delighted to see that one of the most incredible Black women to try and change the world around them was acknowledged. Seeing activist and one of the Stonewall Inn rioters, Marsha P. Johnson as well as Andrea Jenkins the poet, transgender activist and Minneapolis politician in Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: 100 Real-Life Tales of Black Girl Magic reduced me to tears - for any young reader who is questioning their gender or is aware that their body is wrong, seeing these two incredible women there will remind them that they matter and they are not alone.

If you want a wonderful way to educate a child, in a manner that is easy and not overwhelming, the Rebel Girls series is a brilliant idea and this latest book of Good Night Stories will be another must for your shelves.

Thank you again for a series that is a greatly needed... I can't wait for the next one.

This is a book that all young girls should read. Books like this show that it is okay to not fit into the mold, that it is often better to break that mold and make ourselves who we want to be rather than what others think we should be. The stories in this book show just how much good can be accomplished by doing the unexpected and how that can help others as well. I hope this is a book that parents read to their children, both boys and girls, to help them see that they shape who they want to be and not the other way around.

Thank you, NetGalley for the chance to read this book!
