Just when I thought I knew a lot of Black Girl Magic that existed in the world, this book let me know that it's filled with so much more. This book can inspire young (and young-at-heart) girls to believe in themselves and believe in the magic they possess. I learned about more Black women from around the world that has impacted my life (in ways that I didn't know was possible). I will buy a copy to read with my niece and one for my classroom (even though it's a good night story). This Rebel Girls series is amazing!

This series doesn't need a lot of praise by now, or does it?

The stories were well-researched and well-written, and the accompanying illustrations are "chef's kiss" excellent.

I truly enjoyed reading about these 100 women and I will certainly add a physical copy to my daughter's shelves once the book hits the shops.

I loved this book! Just like the previous in this series, this has beautiful illustrations to go with the 100 inspiring stories featuring strong women who impacted the world. I love these books!

Just like all the previous installements in this series I really loved this book. I just think the stories are really well told. They really feel like bed time stories and even though they're short a lot of information is in there and I learned a lot, without it all feeling squeezed in. It's all very natural is what I mean. I also love the variaty in the people talked about in the book. The art is also just mind blowing every single time. So yeah, that's all I have to say about this book. Go read it!

Rebel Girls: Black Girl Magic
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This latest addition to the ‘Rebel Girls’ collection is sensational. This book brilliantly raises the voices of Black women that will inspire and motivate regardless of age or gender. The representation is spot on- celebrating black women across the world, written and illustrated by black women.

I particularly enjoyed reading about the three women who have been front runners in advocating for the Black Lives Matter movement.

A huge thank you to Rebel Girls and NetGalley for this eARC.

seeing racism in the news and social media and people of color—especially women— not being represented enough in the media, i think this book was necessary and inspiring for girls of color to see other women who look like them doing great and being successful. i really loved this

One hundred nights of POSSIBLE dreams!
What a marvelous collection of mini biographies of Black girls who took on the world and made a real difference. These grown girls are from a number of countries and their accomplishments vary from astronomy to pro Hockey to medicine to writing science fiction. Many of them had to overcome more than their skin tone or gender, but they made up their minds and got it done! They are an inspiration to us all! And the illustrations are impressive, too. I plan to buy one for my local library, too.
I requested and received a temporary digital ARC of this book from Rebel Girls via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!

Very up to date choices, such as Alicia Garza, Opal Tometi and Patrisse Cullors, the founders of the #BlackLivesMatter .movement. Amanda Gorman, the poet who spoke at the Inauguration, as well as Angela Davis, as she is now.

Each woman gets a one page bio, as well as a wonderful drawing. There are black women from all over the world, though most are from the US. There is a trapeze artist from Poland, Anna Olga Albertina Brown, from the 19th and 20th century. There is Anne-Marie Imafidon, a mathematician from the UK, who sounded Stemettes, to encourage girls to get more interested in STEM studies, and Aya Cissoko, a boxer from France, to name some of women featured.

All are inspirational, and yes, all would make good night stories for rebel girls..

Thanks to Netgalley for making this books available for an honest review

Out of all of the Rebel Girl books, Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: 100 Real-Life Tales of Black Girl Magic may be the best. Normally in a book with 100 women, you might be lucky to have a few non-white women included. At best, you won’t hit over 25%, despite the fact that the majority of the world isn’t white. But this book….this book written by Black women, illustrated by Black women, and about Black women changes that. From scientists to artists to musicians to sports figures, Black Girl Magic is showing little girls that they can be – whatever it is they strive for. Representation is so important, and this book addresses that. True, just like with the other Rebel Girl books each person is limited to a page, but REPRESENTATION! There are Black women from all over the world in this book, and Rebel Girls didn’t forget the importance of intersectionality. You will find trans-Black women in this book, too.

Overall, this is a great introduction (don’t stop here) to some of the many great Black women who have helped pave the way.

This is a wonderful celebration of Black women - artists, poets, activists, athletes, doctors, and others who have changed the world in some way. Many of them I had never heard of and I look forward to reading this book with my own child. I think everyone needs a reminder of Black Girl Magic and how much good these women have done the world, no matter the obstacles stacked against them.

*Thanks to NetGalley and Rebel Girls for providing an e-arc for review.

I always absolutely love these Rebel Girls books, they're so much fun while also being informative and encouraging. The art is so vibrant and eye-catching, these are the perfect book for kids who are interested in history, especially Black history. This is a book for the kids who love their role models and want to learn more about them, the kids who are going to change the world because someone finally told them they can. That's why I love these so much, they're so beautiful and encouraging to kids. Thank you so much for inviting me to read this one, it was such a joy.

The pros:
- Absolutely gorgeous illustrations.
- A diverse representation from science to arts and beyond.
- Easy to read text appropriate for ages 5-12

The cons:
- Very much leaning to representations from the United States
- While the art is beautiful, I wonder if children would connect to also having included photographs.

I love these books! I always come away feeling inspired - like I’ve learned something and with a more positive outlook about the world we live in. I’m sure this book will be as popular as previous books in the series and I will definitely be buying/promoting in our library.

An outstanding and beautifully illustrated addition to the Rebel Girls series.
It is full of stories of some women who are more well known than others, some who I have heard of and others I was saddened that I've never heard of. This is a wonderful message to young girls, especially young black girls, that they can achieve what they want, and be who they want to be - regardless of sex or race. I love that the women are from all over the world, not just focused on those based in North America, as those were the women I recognised most.

This book stresses the importance of representation, not only because its content is black women exclusively, but the book itself has been made exclusively by women of colour. With some of the other editions I had the issue that most stories were very white and American-cantered, and so this edition is very refreshing. I met a lot of wonderful women through this book.

The illustrations were gorgeous as always and I really like the formatting; it is very concise and straightforward, perfect for little girls (and boys).

All in all, I cannot stress enough how much representation matters, and how important these books are for little girls especially, who are so impressionable.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this book! I’ve been in love with this concept since the first one came out and they continue to impress me! It is so so important to make these kind of books for children, for them to learn, understand and identify themselves with any of the multitude of concepts mentioned. This is definitely the way to go, teaching them about what’s around them and how to talk about it. Can’t wait to see what they come up with next!
