Magnolia Bay Memories checks off a few of my "yes I want to read this", small town setting, romance, and animals. I haven't read any other books by this author. I thought this book was okay. I'm giving the story a solid 3 stars.

Thoroughly enjoyed this heat warming small town romance centered around an animal shelter. Heather is a young mom of three children who lost tragically lost her husband a year ago and is trying to manage life. She has taken on a job at the local animal shelter where she meets Adrian, who is helping at the shelter as a consultant prior to the opening. Sparks fly between the two, but Heather needs to learn to trust again. Can Adrian win over her heart?

Loved the dialog between the animals and the humans. Kept me turning the pages. This is the first book that I have read by Ms de Jongh and will not be my last.

This was my first book by this author, but I will look for others now!

Heather and her three children lost Dale, husband and father in an accident, and after more than a year, are finally starting to emotionally heal. Heather just got a new job working in the local animal shelter, and she frequently has to work with Adrian, a single consultant who lives about an hour away in New Orleans and is very happy living his bachelor life.

It was wonderful to see the relationships develop in this story, both between Heather and Adrian, and Adrian and the children. Heather's reticence to move forward too fast is understandable under the circumstances, and she is a mama bear trying to protect her kids from any pain. When another accident happens, she feels forced to make a decision that will effect all of them.

Mostly sweet, a few spicy adult scenes and some language - all in all, a quick, enjoyable read. I'll look for the next in the series.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

This is my first book from this author but unfortunately I really wasn't a fan. I didn't enjoy the way the animals/humans interacted and couldn't get into the storyline at all.

This book was so good! It has wonderful characters and a great story line. I loved how the animals and humans interacted with each other. It hooks you on the first page and doesn't let go. I loved it!
I received a complimentary copy from SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca via NetGalley and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

My first book by this author, but not my last. She has spun a fantastic story centered around an animal shelter and its humans. I like how the animal’s point of view is included in the dialog!

The secondary story, in my opinion, is that of Heather and Adrian. She has had a rough go after the loss of her husband. She is managing and slowly working through her trust issues and Adrian’s interest.

Magnolia Bay Memories did not disappoint, and I never felt lost as it is the second book in the series. I will be reading more from this author in the future.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinions.

The best part of this book were the animals. They had complete personalities all their own, which surpassed and usurped, in my opinion, most of the people in the story. I liked the setting and the concept of the book. It was a read.

Unfortunately this book wasn't for me. I chose to read it because I am an animal lover, however I'm not keen on the idea of people being able to communicate with animals. The style of writing, in particular the speech which felt stilted in most parts, just didn't draw me in.

A sweet story about overcoming grief and finding love again- combined with animals. Know, btw that people in this novel can communicate with animals in the Bayside Barn shelter (as well as others) telepathically which worked for me because it never gets twee. Heather is the new director of operations the shelter. Her husband died a year ago and she. along with her three kids. are still hurting. Adrian a business man who is raising money for the shelter, is attracted to her but he's got his own issues- but Reva thinks they belong together. There's a crisis and then.....Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. You know how this will end don't you? No matter because its the sort of novel that makes the reader smile.

Magnolia Bay Memories by Babette de Jongh is the second book in her Welcome to Magnolia Bay series. I found this storyline to be quite compelling. I kept turning the pages to see if heroine Heather could accept the relationship hero Adrian wanted with her. This author has a very entertaining way of developing the conflict and bringing about the resolution. In addition to enjoying secondary character Reva's matchmaking I was fascinated by her communication with animal skills. The way the author included the thoughts of the animals in the story really added to my enjoyment of it. I really like Ms. de Jongh's voice.

This is a great book. The two main characters are Heather and Adrian. They are opposite of each other. Heather is a widower with three children, Adrian is a bachelor. But attraction is there between them. They each have their problems but together they work through them and find true love.

This is the second book in a series about a woman who runs an animal rescue and all of her friends. This book in particular deals with Heather, the daily operations manager and Adrian, one of Quinn's college buddies. Adrian is performing some free business consulting for the new animal shelter before it opens. Heather's husband died traumatically the previous year and she and her three children are still suffering ill effects. But as soon as Adrian is introduced to Heather, the sparks started flying. I personally found this a little too soon after her "soul mate's" death, but seeing as how I haven't experienced this, it's not really fair for me to judge. As soon as Heather & Adrian started getting close, he has a terrible water skiing accident and that triggered all sorts of bad memories for Heather. At that point, she decided she couldn't get close to anyone again for fear of losing them so she asks him to step back into the friend zone. I don't think Adrian handled it very well, but then again, he's a guy.

You have to understand going into this book that some of these people are able to communicate with animals telepathically. Maybe there are people that can do this - but it just seems weird as you are reading what an animal is thinking plus the human's response back to the animal.

But my big gripe with the book is it is WAY TOO LONG. It could have easily been a 4 hour book instead of an 8 hour book. There was too much fluff in the book making it more of a chore to read. It was cute, but I would not want to read the next book in the series.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. The opinions stated above are mine without biases.
