When Sam Atwood offers Noelle a charger when they're stranded on a closed highway due to snow, everything for Noelle slowly begins to change.

Based on the cover, I expected this to be a holiday or wintery book, so I was a little disappointed upon realizing that it briefly took place in winter and then was more of an all-seasons book. Despite that, Eight Perfect Hours was still a really cute romance. I loved the idea that Sam and Noelle's paths were meant to cross.

Eight Perfect Hours was just that, perfect! The story was beautiful and Sam and Noella were so likable. I felt the book started off really interesting…two strangers meet on a highway in a snow storm, it put a little spin on this love story.

Overall this was just a nice feel-good book. A few sad moments, but it worked well onto the story. I would definitely recommend it. And I’m really becoming a fan of Lia Louis’s writing as well.

Eight Perfect Hours is a beautifully written contemporary romance. It was so heartwarming and lovely. I adored the characters and story so much.

I read this book around the holidays and it provided the perfect hallmark vibes(but with WAY more substance) I was looking for at the time! This book was heartwarming and a quick, easy read! I loved the themes of fate, overcoming obstacles, and the ability to move forward with your life when things feel really dark. There were parts of this book that were predictable but the ending was redeeming.

This book was just absolutely perfect for a December read! While not a “Christmas Read” it had all the things you want in a romance. I loved the characters and the story line!

This book started out slow for me, luckily I loved the main character and suspected I liked the love interest so I stuck it out. The book continued to progress slowly, with little excitement and no angst or butterflies. However, in the last 1/3 of the book I couldn't stop reading. I loved the way everything braided together.

Charming, well-written, wonderful characters. This is a story of two people growing together and growing into who they're supposed to be. I really enjoyed this book!

I loved this book and the way that Noelle and Same kept running into each other. I had such hope for them and the ending wrecked me. It was a cozy January read and I will seek out more of Lia Louis' books.

This was my first book by Lia Louis but won’t be my last. It was the perfect little rom com! The twists and turns kept me up reading later than I meant to. A great cozy up and read book.

Super cute and sweet litter book. Lia Louis knows how to write adorable characters who you just fall in love with.

I requested this one because I’m a Lia Louis fan, and it didn’t disappoint.

Noelle and Sam end up stuck in a snowstorm, their cars gridlocked on a highway with others for eight hours. This chance meeting feels perfect, but still Noelle walks away from Sam with no contact information and no way of ever seeing Sam again. Until fate intervenes, and there he is. This book is a tale of two people trying to overcome the pulls of the past and make their own way in the world.

This book was a cute, fun read. Noelle and Sam both carry a lot of responsibility for their family members, so there are some more difficult themes in this book, but it’s handled with grace and never overly emotional while still pulling the reader in. I was invested in Noelle’s future, screaming at her in my head when she was making a choice I disagreed with, and rooting for her when things seemed to be working out. Sam seemed like a bit of a flake at times, but even that didn’t deter me as his story came out in small pieces at a time.

Lia Louis is becoming a go-to author for me with fun, heartfelt novels.

Eight Perfect Hours by Lia Louis

Not quite a fluffy rom com but Oh so sweet and good!

This book started out with a chance meeting on a very snowy night. Noelle and Sam meet while the cars are stopped on a very snowy road. He invites her to share his car for warmth and she accepts.

Thus begins the eight perfect hours.
They progress in that short time from nervous strangers to a bit more comfortable with each other.

They separate and think that that's it, they won't ever see each other again. Of course fate has other ideas.

Much happens but I will only share that there are medical things and other heavy issues going on, but they do meet again and again throughout the book.

I really liked both characters and was hoping they would end up together.

Do they? You have to read the book to find out of course.

This surpassed my expectations of a fluffyish book. it was Oh so good!

So I would recommend this book if the reader wants a warm feeling book with some heavier topics sprinkled in.

4****

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read the e book.

I decided that I needed one of those sweet romances to distract me from the fact that my oldest daughter is leaving to go to college next weekend and Eight Perfect Hours did the trick. This British romance features the continued chance meetings of Noelle and Sam. It starts with him being a good Samaritan to Noelle when they are both stranded on the road during a snow storm. They go from being awkward strangers to friendly strangers over the course of eight hours and when Noelle walks back to her car, she just knows there's something there but feels weird about taking things further. As the novel continues, Noelle and Sam keep running into each other and we get to know them and see that they really do seem to belong together. They have all of these threads that seem to connect them and yet they can't seem to connect. Both of them are testing the waters with their exes and both of them have family things that hinder them, but ultimately, it's their fear of the unknown that seems to halt any progress...at least for a while.

This was a charming and sweet, clean romance. Easy to read and enjoy and the perfect distraction from my pending melancholy.

If the cover doesn’t give it away, maybe this review will. It’s the perfect cozy book. It’s cold outside so come in, sit by the fire, and let Lia Louis warm you up with this cute romance!

This book will be enjoyed by those who have a romantic way of looking at the world. On a snowy winter night, Noelle and Sam meet. They spend those “eight perfect hours” together. What will happen to them after this? Will they have their happy ever after? Readers will surely hope so.

This book’s cover is sweet and indicative of the nice story inside, although there are some mental health issues noted in these pages. Read this book on a hot summer day when you might appreciate the idea of a winter’s cold and two warm hearts.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Atria books for this title. All opinions are my own.

The best, fun, and cute rom com you will read! I picked this book up and couldn't put it down because I had to know how it was going to end. Books that make you hunger like that are a gem and you don't want to miss this one.

I thoroughly enjoyed Eight Perfect Hours. This one was full of will they or won't they and had excellent character growth!

This was cute, but ENTIRELY TOO PREDICTABLE. Noelle meets Sam first while trapped in a snow storm on a highway, but then again at a hospital soon after. After giving him her number at the hospital, she finds it balled up next to a trash can. How rude! THEN her mom's friend recommends her for a job, and lo and behold, Sam is there! I mean really?! But what romance lover doesn't love the meet-cute trope? This whole book was a bit cheesy, but it did give me all the warm and fuzzies. And though the whole "secret held within in the camera" was a bit EXTRA, at least it made sense (but honestly, extraneous).

Do I judge a book by its cover? Yes. Yes I do. Did I see a cover that could rival a Hallmark movie when I picked up Eight Perfect Hours? Yes I did. And when reading the blurb, I read “romantic and heartwarming.” The main character is named Noelle and there is snow – it was released during the prime holiday story season time. This set my expectations for this story quite high, but I just don’t feel like the story delivered what was promised, or what I hoped for.

The beginning of the story pulled me in – the meet cute had SUCH potential. But it didn’t last very long. For Noelle and Sam to spend 8 hours together, I would think more chapters in the book would be spent on that. But we time jump forward pretty quickly to when they are back to living their own lives and begin bumping into each other. One of the ways they did, when she worked up her nerve to give Sam her phone number only for him to toss it away, and she still didn’t give up on him? That made me so mad!

There were quite a few side stories going on as well. One was the reason Noelle was stuck in traffic (class reunion where she was trying to obtain a camera from her friend who had died – grief trigger warning). Then there was Noelle’s family, her best friend (post partum depression trigger warning) and her ex-boyfriend popping back into the picture. There was just a lot going on here.

When I read through the story, I found myself not connecting with Noelle at all. There were no Christmas vibes, and I couldn’t believe that Sam and Noelle were meant to be bumping into each other. Strangely, I did like the tiny twist at the end though.
