Thank you so much Entangled Pub for sending me a free e-arc via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review!

This was a fantabulous read! I really loved how Alicia & Niall were both equally flawed. They had amazing chemistry. I loved how they complimented each other. They learned so much from each other and I was here for it.

I really appreciate that the drama in their relationship wasn't caused by just one of them. They both had things going on that they needed to figure out. And, of course, another favorite of mine: They didn't take forever to apologize to each other & fix their relationship! 👏👏👏👏👏👏

And OH how I loved the side characters!! I can't wait to go back and read their love stories in the other books in this series! The friendships that Alicia & Niall had were everything! Oh, and I also loved Niall's siblings! His relationship with them I loved. I was swooning and laughing so much throughout this book!

First of all, while this is a part of a series, you do not have to read the prior stories to thoroughly enjoy this one. The couples from those stories do make multiple appearances so if you have read them, it will be like catching up with them.

Second I would like to say that this is a historical romance (hint that means this is a story). There is a sexy scene but this is a story not erotica that portends to be a romance.

This is about Niall and Alicia and how they achieve their HEA. He is a Scottish lord who seeks to become England's Prime Minister. He has been busy with all that entails plus he helps at a foundling home. He has no time for romance. Especially now that a mysterious writer of "chapbooks" has started to write about him and his political works. The said writer of the books isn't a man but a woman, more specifically, the writer is Alicia, the Dowager Countess of Lindsay. Alicia admires Niall but she feels he can use some prodding in areas. That is what her writings are for NOT to criticize like he and his mentor think.

Due to a wardrobe mishap, the two marry. Alicia worries about Niall finding out about her pastime of writing and demanding that she quits. Niall meanwhile is busy that he pushes Alicia away. These two have some hurdles to over come that were mostly of their own making!

I adored both of these protagonists. Having this book written in a dual POV really showed them in the best way. Again there is a sexy scene so I could not recommend this to someone under the age of 18. To someone over 18, I would highly recommend it especially if you adored a quick-witted female!

Thanks to the publisher for granting me an ARC on Netgalley!

I absolutely *loved* Alicia. She is smart as can be, passionate, and not afraid to do what she thinks needs to be done for a good cause. Niall is also a great character, but he clearly needed someone like Alicia to come shake up his world. They work really well as a couple, even if Alicia is keeping a pretty big secret and Niall has a hard time opening himself up to love.

I've previously read the third book in this series, and the characters from that book (plus the earlier two) show up a lot in To Tempt a Scandalous Lord. Through a web of family and friendship, all the characters are connected to each other. While confusing at times, it can be fun for a reader who has read all the books. In fact, I loved this one so much that I looked up the ones I'd missed and immediately pick up book two!

I highly recommend this book (and really the whole series) but be prepared for some second-hand anxiety as Alicia attempts to conceal her secret of epic proportions.

I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley. All opinions are my own. To Tempt a Scandalous Lord by Liana De Rosa is the fourth book in the Entangled Once Upon a Scandal Series. The books are all written as stand-alones. Alicia, Dowager Countess of Lindsay is enjoying widowhood, no longer isolated in the country as she was during her marriage, she’s living in London, making new friends and importantly able to express her opinions as a writer of political chap books, that she must do this anonymously does not detract from her desire to make a difference in the world. Nial Campbell, Marquess of Inverray, has devoted his life to politics and leadership of his party, becoming Prime Minister is a goal that is finally within his grasp, but those damnable political chapbooks are questioning his abilities as a leader and his record as a member of parliament. During a waltz, Alicia’s brooch catches on Nail’s coat and the bodice of her dress is torn and in order to protect her reputation, Nial announces their engagement. Their marriage of convenience begins to grow into something more, but Alicia’s secret leaves a shadow over their union that only honesty and a willingness to trust each other can mend. I enjoyed reading this book and do recommend reading it but qualify that while it’s not dark, it is very dense and of course very political. It’s definitely a story that will make you think. This was my first time reading Liana De la Rosa and she is a great writer. It is also the first book in the series that I read and it worked well as a stand alone.

Alicia Lindsay, the dowager Countess Lindsay, has spent her life learning about politics and looking for friendship. Alicia is anonomously writing political critiques toward many in parliament. Including a hopeful for Prime Minister, Niall Campbell, Marquis of Inverray. While Alicia's backstory unfolds throughout the book, I would have liked to know more about Niall. I know there must be more about him and his family in the rest of the series, so looking forward to reading about his sisters!

This book has some amazing scenes like an epic wardrobe malfunction and battle with cholera. From the get go there are just a couple things that aren't my cup of tea in a romance...politicians and withholding of secrets from a partner. Still a great book and I recommend for anyone who enjoys a marriage of convince trope!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. #LianaDelaRosa #ToTemptaScandalousLord #NetGalley

*****Thank you to NetGalley for giving me a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*****

This book is about a widow (Alicia) and a Scottish noble (Niall) who is vying to become the party leader for his political party. He is trying to become the next PM, but an anonymous political tract writer is casting aspersions on his voting record.

Alicia was married to a politician before and he kept her sequestered in the country. She is enjoying her freedom as a widow. One night, she and Niall find themselves in a bit of a scandal and Niall blurts out that they are engaged to quiet wagging tongues. I admit the reason for their marriage was a bit contrived to me, but it worked ok.

Their marriage is quite cold at first, as Niall tries to hold Alicia at arms length, but a bout with Cholera where Alicia must care for him does change things between them. I love a good sickbed scene, so this was very nice. 🥰

Of course, Alicia is keeping a rather big secret and it doesn’t come out until around the 80% mark. Also, there were no “sexy times” until 70%. Both the secret and sexy times being drug out for so long did drive me a bit nuts, to be honest.

After the secret is revealed, things went quite fast, and I loved Niall’s “big gesture” after the way he treated Alicia. I also appreciated that Alicia still acknowledged that Niall had every right to his anger, because he did. Not because what she was doing was wrong, but because keeping it from him was wrong.

All in all, an enjoyable experience. The writing is good and I did like the main characters. Even when I didn’t like what they were doing, I understood it. I love this author and do want to read the rest of this series soon. ♥️

To Tempt a Scandalous Lord, by Liana De la Rosa, is one of the best romance novels that I have read. The characters were engaging on their own rights, the story was well thought-out and well written, and it left me wanting to read more of Liana's books! High praise indeed.

The story is about Niall, the Marquess of Inverray, a bachelor whose focus is his political career and his goal is to become Prime Minister, and Alicia, Lady Lindsay, a recent widow, who is getting back into the London social scene, but who wants to be treated as an equal to men - and have someone listen to her opinions!

The book is well-paced, has great dialogue, and was a captivating read. I am looking forward to reading the other books in Liana De la Rosa's Once Upon a Scandal series - and, actually, whatever else she writes!

When Alicia Lindsay, the dowager Countess Lindsay, meets Niall Campbell, the Marquess of Inverray, there are sparks. However, Niall is completely unaware that the anonymous articles critiquing his campaign come from Alicia. When a wardrobe malfunction leads to a hasty marriage, Alicia is fearful that her freedom to write will be taken away from her. Yet little does she realise that her writing may not be all that she loses.
Niall is a determined and honourable Scotsman who faces the prejudice of his heritage whilst campaigning for Prime Minister. He finds himself captivated by Alicia and inspired by her wisdom and understanding of politics. Whilst the marriage begins on shaky grounds, Niall does all he can to make the best of the situation. Together he and Alicia make a formidable pair, yet they seem to be at loggerheads. As a result, this book is always at full pace with outside forces conspiring against them, and neither one of them prepared to fully expose themselves to being vulnerable. A well written and enjoyable novel.

To Tempt a Scandalous Lord was a very good read. The plot was very interesting, with all the political setting and chapbook stories; compared to the other book I read from the author, I feel the plot of this one was more exciting. I liked the two characters of the pair and the political messages they conveyed.
The only thing that I didn't like as much was how fast the romance developed - from the scandalous reason to marry to basically ignoring each other to loving each other so quickly. I wished there was more chemistry between the characters, namely during the earlier chapters.
All in all, it was a fine book and I recommend it to anyone who likes historical romances with steamy scenes.
Thanks NetGalley, Entangled Publishing, LLC and the author for the opportunity to read this.

London 1834

A gentleman determined to change matters by political reform and a lady who thwarts him by her writing. A match made in heaven?

Niall Campbell (gorgeous Scot) in mired in the political arena, working on reform and becoming a leader for his party. Not focused on women. That is until....

Alicia, Countess Lindsay, widowed, is also focused on social reform, but thinks Niall is not doing enough. Thus her campaign to urge him on.

Brought together by fate, it seems it might be a conflict.. But you never know how passion might win out! The author has done her research and brings her characters to life for a well written story!

I really wanted to love this book and there’s heaps about it to love but I just couldn’t get into the story. The main characters, Lady Alicia Lindsay and Niall, Marquess Of Inverray, are both strong, intelligent people and it was easy to like them. The plot is intriguing and almost hooked me but I had issues with the writing craft that just kept drawing me out of the story. Some of the dialogue didn’t ring true and I had issues with some of the scene set-ups. Who takes a dinner guest straight from the front door to the dining room and why, in a clearly opulent household in 1834, is the lady of the house opening that door? Later in the same scene we have the diners finished with their meal and led to the sitting room yet a moment or so after that all four of them are back at the table discussing child labour laws. Aside from these issues the story unfolded nicely and I’m sure it will appeal greatly to less fussy readers than me.

I enjoyed this one from Liana De la Rosa. Alicia is a widow who anonymously writes political essays, trying to bring about social change, specifically child safety laws. Niall is a Scottish marquess who hopes to be Prime Minister, and his inaction is often the target of Alicia's tracts. When they meet, the attraction is mutual, as much a physical attraction as enjoying each other intellectually. When a marriage of convenience ensues, each is trying to navigate the political game while also falling in love with their new spouse.

I really liked Alicia. I appreciated that she was motivated to enact change after her own experiences, and was willing to take some risks to do it. I also liked that she was shown as intelligent and nuanced in her arguments, both in writing and in person. The examination of who has the right to speak, to make change, to even have an opinion on important topics, was good. Her desire to make friends was endearing. She just felt very real. And when she and Niall finally consummated their marriage, I appreciate that she wasn't a shrinking violet. Too often even widows are portrayed as de facto (or actual) virgins who fear sex. I'm over that worn out trope. Bonus points for a sick bed component, though not a full "sick bed, realization of love" scene.

Niall was less successful for me. He was too stuffy, too arrogant for most of the story. He would acknowledge that the political tracts were critiques, not defaming, but then he'd be angry and determined to discover the author again. Like, why? They were helping him, as Alicia actually intended. It just made him feel like a blowhard. Then in the next scene he'd be caring for children at the orphanage for which he was a patron, giving him plenty of heart. But then he'd switch back again. His reaction when Alicia's identity was revealed, was just more of the same cold arrogance. It wasn't until he was forced to defend his wife that the lightbulb came on. I would have liked him more if he was simply serious and reserved with his big heart like at the orphanage, instead of frequently so arrogant. He was redeemed at the end, much like a stereotypical alpha, without actually being much of an alpha character. He was hard to cheer for, while I fully vested in Alicia.

There is a cast of characters surrounding Alicia and Niall, giving us friendship and family, which I love. I assume many of their stories are in the other books of the series, which I have not read. This worked fine as a standalone, though, I did not have big questions about how Niall and Alicia came to appear in this book. Their romance felt wholly contained in this book.

Sexy times are hot and on the page, mostly in the last 25% of the book.

Overall I give this 4 stars, because I really liked Alicia and the political plot, and Niall eventually redeemed himself. I liked the side characters and am interested in the other stories and will read the rest of the series.

Overall, I recommend this book, it is a nice little read, entertaining for the most part and a sweet romance.

Likes- the story line- I just love when the characters are in a heck of a mess and have to find a way out of it. This is very well done. The author has a pleasant writing style that is easy to read and you can tell she did her homework and research on this one. The historical notes at the end were a bonus and much appreciated. Very well written politics of the time. Strong female lead (which can be a double edge sword because at times I felt she came off too strong and rude)

Dislikes- some parts got a little boring and dragged on, mostly about so much politics. Very little to the characters backgrounds is mentioned and if it is, it is towards the end of the novel which detracted from the reader getting to understand why a certain person was the way they were. For example, I really did not like Alicia, she was far too head strong to the point of being snobby and a brat with a wicked tongue. It wasn't until almost the very end that we come to understand why she is like that. While that doesn't excuse her actions it helps to explain a little and I feel the reader would sympathize more with her versus hating her as I did.

Romance- there is towards the end - would have liked a bit more of something between Alicia and Niall because I didn't really believe their romance. Niall we get was enthralled since seeing her but Alicia was always cold and even when they did get together it did not feel as if she was into it.

This is a series of books but can be read as a stand alone, however it may have helped to have read the others to understand the characters a bit more.

Enjoyed this series a lot and this one didn't disappoint.
Loved seeing characters from previous books.
I'm not a fan of politics so that made it a little harder to get into this story. Not the story's fault...all my own. Really liked the strong female characters and the men that recognize and encourage it.
I'm a sucker for a forced marriage and how this one came about was great. Something completely new.
Will definitely be reading more from this author.

*** Two political minds clash ***
Great story of a Scottish Lord heir to a dukedom dedicating his life for the betterment of the common people of England by being in parliament. He meets a woman who carefully and with great wit expresses her political views when they lived in a time when women were not to have a feather in their brain. She could have run for office if women were allowed to. That is how deeply involved in politics our heroine was. I also adored the fact that our hero had founded and supported an orphanage. Two little girls, sisters, were just the ticket to bring the great big Scotsman to his knees. They were adorable in their love for the big guy. When trouble comes the heroine comes in to the rescue and our hero falls more in love with his lady. When our heroine’s secret life is exposed to a few it caused a great deal of turmoil, pain, blackmail and fear. A wonderful book. Do not pass this up. You will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this book.

This was an enjoyable read by one of my favorite authors. The characters wee real with thoughts and feelings of their own. Even though this is the fourth in a series, it can be read as a stand alone.
I really like the Lady Alicia Lindsay, the dowager Countess Lindsay. She is finally a widow and out from under any man's influence. She has a voice of her own in aspect to follow along with the political agenda. She writes for a newspaper under an assumed name and gives her views on injustices against those who can't help themselves. Lady Alicia is one tough cookie when it comes to things that cause her to be critical about candidates, especially one new to her.
Niall Campbell, Marquess of Inverray, has spent many years to be the best speaker for his fellow Scots in legislation to better their lives. He doesn't pull any punches when it comes to things that would help his way to the top. But when a person gives some words of advice in a news sheet, it's not flattering to his ego or his campaign. He must get to the root of the problem and get rid of it.
When Lacy Alicia meets Niall Campbell there seems to be a meeting of more than minds .They are attracted to each other and sparks fly. But what will the cost be when he finds out about the Widow who is the unknown author of the news sheet and his fiancee at the same time?
I loved this exciting book with lots of kisses and more to get to the happy ever after.
I appreciate Net Galley for this ARC title in which I gave an honest review.

This is such a charming story. I absolutely loved it! Both the main characters are amazing and the chemistry between them is off the charts. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also liked the political side of it. I think this is the first time I have read a historical romance that has made politics one of the primary focus of the story. And I think it's brilliantly done. I recommend this to all readers, especially if you like strong-minded female leads, and men who appreciate them. This book is a gem. I couldn't get enough of it.

Today I'm reviewing to Tempt a Scandalous Lord by Liana De la Rosa. Thank you to Entangled Publishing for the copy!

This Victorian-Era book follows the story of Niall, a Lord who is stuck between his true political opinions and what government and the general public expect of him. But criticizing him through the papers is newly widowed Alicia, pressuring him to show his support for child labor laws and his other passions despite what he may think, and he may well win the race. Upon meeting her, conversation quickly turns to attraction, and makes for a beautiful romance to come, but things are not as simple as they seem when it comes to politics.

I truly enjoyed this read and highly recommend it for anyone who loves historical romance!

Alicia was an intelligent lady who loved writing, especially when her writing could improve the lives of those unable to help themselves. Unfortunately, due to the expected behaviour for ladies she was not able to write under her own name. How galling this must have been! Niall, Marquess of Inverray, was very politically active and also aimed to improve the lives of those less fortunate, particularly children. Niall and Alicia are very attracted to each other and when due to circumstances they spend more time in each other’s company, this attraction deepens into something more meaningful. However, there is a secret that could affect their relationship. I really enjoyed this story, it was a little slow at first but afterwards, it moved along at a good pace. I loved the way the villain was dealt with, a very clever and apt way. There was a good feeling of family bond and loyalty. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Romance and Politics
A woman is not supposed to have a keen mind and an interest in politics but Alicia has found a way to make a difference through her anonymous writings. Married young but kept in seclusion in the country, the now widowed countess has no intention of giving up her freedom, until a social mishap finds her married to a man whose political policies she has criticized. How can they have a happy and successful marriage with secrets between them, but if he finds out about her writing will he ever forgive her? An interesting story with likeable characters. Well worth the read.
