If there is one thing you can depend on, it's Meg Cabot having a fun, escapism novel in the works for us to lose ourselves in. It's really a gift that the prolific Cabot has been writing so much for so long that at least a couple generations of women have now grown up with her in their lives. This book, the third in her loosely connected Little Bridge Island series, is just that: a fun, lighthearted escape. In a recent interview Cabot explained that her personal sadness over the mass cancellations of, well, everything, in 2020 was what inspired her to write about a book festival and I think you really get that here. This is an author who has been to a few festivals and met a few characters along the way. While some aspects of the plot and characters weren't as fleshed out as I would have liked, I don't think anyone would regret having this by their side at a pool or on a beach this summer.

A love story about two authors?!? Yes, please! This book was delightful and witty. It gave us readers a glimpse at what goes on behind the scenes at author events, too. Cabot has done it again!

I have always loved Meg Cabot's books and "No Words" is no exception. Honestly, she had me at the first cat pun and kept me with her writing style and humor. "No Words" gave me "Pride and Prejudice" vibes which I adored. Her characters were so enjoyable and her plot line was extremely relatable. I very much enjoyed taking a break from my world to follow Jo and Will in the sunny small town of Little Bridge.

This was fine. I loved Meg Cabot's two other Little Bridge Island books, and I think what was missing for me here was the Stars Hollow-y-ness of the island. Most of the characters were just there for an author fest and the quirkiness of the island and its inhabitants were lacking. I missed it.

I love Meg Cabot, and this was a cute, fun, read. However, there was nothing that happened that didn't feel expected. In that way it was comforting, and I needed that in the pandemic! It was a little campy and if it wasn't Meg Cabot, I wouldn't have picked this up.

Y’all! Meg Cabot is one of those authors that made me love reading when I was younger. I devoured the Princess Diaries and Mediator series. So I practically screamed when I got access to the eARC of this book. While part of the Little Bridge Island series, these books are stand alone and I don’t think I missed out by not reading the preceding two first. Anyway, this is an excellent little beach read!

(Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!)

"No Words" is the third book in Meg Cabot's Little Bridge Island series, following the lives and relationships of the eccentric locals on a small Florida Key. This was very much a fluffy beach book; light romance, quirky characters, zero angst, etc. Jo Wright is a well known children's author who has been invited to a literary convention on Little Bridge. Her only hang up is the fact that Little Bridge is the home of her authorial nemesis Will Price (think Nicholas Sparks). Jo and Will once hit it off at a previous festival, before he insulted her entire writing career to a columnist in the New York Times. Although Jo is assured that Will will be out of town during the festival, he of course turns out to be very present and things proceed as you'd expect.

My biggest problem with this book is that there is actually never a good explanation presented for Will's previous behavior. He does apologize for bad mouthing Jo to the NYT, but there's never a point where he actually talks about why he said those things in the first place, ie, whether or not he actually believes that children's fiction is less important than his own "literary" romances. I would have liked to see a conversation that actually dealt with this. As it is, the whole issue of Jo and Will's past is swept aside pretty easily with the usual "I was going through a tough time" explanation.

I enjoyed reading this book, and will continue to read the series, but this is not one of my favorite Meg Cabot endeavors.

Call me a sap, but I just can't get enough of the Little Bridge Island series. Cabot continues to delight with this delightful bit of escapism. I always think I now where things are going, but for once I love being wrong. I know I'm always going to be happy and feel a little bit lighter after reading about Little Bridge and its cast of peculiar characters.

The Little Bridge Island series continues to be a breezy, effortless series of romantic adventures, and as a bookish professional, I was delighted with how Cabot presents the conference drama between two authors.

I liked this book much more than the second book in this series - who doesn't love a good enemies to lovers book trope?

Typical Meg Cabot, and I don't say that in a bad way. It's the perfect summer read. I do wish the plot line with Garrett being a creeper was fleshed out more, but I also understand why it was not.

After I finished reading Meg Cabot’s No Words, overall I thought this was really cute!

Author, Jo Wright, swears she will never be near fellow writer, Will Price again, not after what he did, but when Jo is offered an all expenses paid trip to speak at a book festival, taking place on the very island where Will Price lives... how can she say no?

Will these two ever get over their rivalry?

... You probably know the answer, but still worth the time reading for an easy book!

I would say this is a great book when you are looking for an escape from reality, and I for one would totally sign up for going to a book festival (on an island!) featuring fellow authors!

No Words is the 3rd installment of Cabot's Little Bridge series and every time I read about this small town in the Florida Keys, I'm ready to sell my house and move south.  Also, I really hate snow.

No Words centers around the 1st Annual Little Bridge Island Annual Book Festival run by Molly Hartwell from Book 2 in the series.  I loved the nod to writers and books and we got a few events around the library. It was nice to see books 2 and 3 weave together.  Jo Wright, author of a beloved children's series about Kitty Katz is not too excited to be heading to this festival given her fellow writer, Will Price lives there.  After a snub a year before, Jo has written off Will and doesn't need to be stuck on a small island together.

The one thing I liked about this book was the cast of characters that complimented the book festival.  Each writer had their own genre and seeing the sort of "author community" was a fun glimpse into that life.  I liked that each author had a bit of a backstory, without overpowering the main story between Jo and Will.  Saul and Frannie were a favorite for me!  Cabot did a great job combining the back stories of Jo and Will while still focusing on the weekend event.  I love when an author can find that balance in a book while keeping things moving.

I was not a big fan of this story. I liked Meg Cabot's first book about Little Bridge Island but did not care for this one. I found it confusing and difficult to get through. I finished it so I could give it a review but otherwise I would not have spent the time. When several authors meet for a book convention at the Little Bridge library there are lots of back stories about how they all know each other but I never got a clear understanding of why the two main characters had a big conflict, although there was a "happily ever after -- sort of" ending. This bump in the road book will not keep me from reading other Meg Cabot books in the future, however.

This book started out strong - laugh out loud funny, smart, witty, and a great premise, but it fell apart pretty quickly. The connection between the main love interests was weak and developed too fast to be believable. Overall 3/5

i received an arc through netgalley.

this book is cute but i feel like the main characters didn’t interact enough for the romance to be completely believable. if the author wanted to keep it mainly physical that’s fine, but then why did she not include the sex scene, just the morning after scene.

overall i enjoyed the book but i felt like the main characters needed more interaction

While I love Meg Cabot's writing I did not enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed the first two books. I felt like the story was getting really drawn out and I just could not get into it. I will still continue to read Meg Cabot's books but this one was just not for me. Thank you Netgalley and William Morrow Custom House for the ARC but all opinions are my own.

I will start this by saying Meg Cabot might be one of my all time favorite authors - starting with the Princess Diaries and continuing to now.

I love this book. I read it in ~36 hours, and really enjoyed the story, progression and characters. I think this has rounded out more of the Little Bridge Island community, but is a book that could be read standalone if you haven’t read the other 2.5 books.

If you like books about authors, easy beach reads, or something with quirky humor - this book is for you.

I got this book free from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

A fun, romance with the going to the beach feel type book. It reads quick and Meg Cabot always writes great characters.
