This is such a sweet book about a little girl and her dad. The illustrations are lovely and the story is entertaining. I love reading stories about kids and their parents going on adventures and having fun even with their differences.

The Way to Treasure Island is about a father and daughter who view the world two different ways but learn that life's more fun together than apart. The illustrations are lovely but the story fell flat for me, and I wish it focused more on the adventure aspect than painting the child as a control freak (for lack of a better description). I disliked the child and their perspective in the story, but I can see where some kids will love it.

Matilda and her dad are very different. “They don’t always see eye to eye, but they always have fun together!” This heartwarming story shows the beauty of differences, proving the theme that humans are stronger together. The colorful, full-page illustrations are brilliant and stunning.

The Way To Treasure Island by Lizzy Stewart is a beautiful story about the bond between a father and daughter, and reminds young readers that if we all embrace our differences, life will be more fun and rewarding.

Mathilda and her Dad couldn't be more different. When they set off together to find a hidden treasure, Dad is easily distracted and Mathilda is frustrated that he is not as focused as she is on the task at hand. When they find the treasure together, they recognize that their differences have ultimately brought them to the same place, and recognize the joy that comes from sharing our experiences with those we love.

With beautiful illustrations and a positive message, this lovely book will be a nice addition to any bookshelf.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group - Frances Lincoln Children's Books for an ARC.
