Nicholas isn’t thinking about getting married and having children, he is still grieving the loss of his father and brother. Carrie is devastated by the loss of her father and is perplexed as to why he chose Nicholas to be her and her siblings guardian. They try to fight their attraction to each other, but eventually realize they belong together. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.

Nicolas, Marquess of Pennington, suffered the loss of the woman he loved several years ago, He vows never to fall in love again. Returning from the war, he must take over the title after the death of his father and brother. His promise to a dying friend to become the guardian of his children after his death, is an added responsibility. The oldest daughter must have a season to find a husband, but Carrie stills wants her freedom, unless she can find a man to love and be kind to her siblings. When danger threatens Carrie and her siblings, Nicholas realizes how much he needs Carrie and his biggest mistake would be denying his love. A very charming romance, a very sweet and giving hero and a perfect match for Carrie.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Romance with Mystery Intrigue. This is definitely a lighthearted Read that you can read in one sitting that will keep your interest.
Carrie is raised by her father and helps raise her two younger siblings. She is fairly independent and a strong willed young woman, but she doesn’t want to just be married without love.
Her father has a heart ailment and he gives guardianship to a close friend, Nicholas, Marquess of Pennington. He doesn’t get control of Carrie, but he is to help with her formal debut and approve her choice of suitor.

The book is well written with a good plot that if this was a bigger novel there is so many more ways it could have went, but it’s just a short read and it is good and it gives you the hint of which way it could have went!

I received a free advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.
