This was a good read, but I felt as though it fell short on a lot of things. I loved the plot idea, and the character growth, but it felt a little shaky and I felt robbed of a few scenes that would have made this book epic. I did enjoy the life lessons and realizations the main character had, and I'm curious to see how I can apply these same lessons in my life. I'm no where near pushing forty, but that doesn't mean I can't change the course of my life and end up bettering my current situation.
I was quite pleased with the new plot line and story elements. I found it rather unique with the whole mass text of marriage proclamation. That lead to some very embarrassing and real moments. If you are looking for a turmoil of romance and a fun adventure as the main character re-balances her life, than this is a great read for you. I hope this review helps! Happy Reading and Blessed Be.

I really enjoyed this book. When I first started reading this I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it because the main character Annie was whiny and self centered. But that changed after a couple of chapters and it ended up that I really liked her. This was a funny romantic read that had me hooked. And it kept me guessing on what Annie would do until the end. I absolutely loved the epilogue!

IT’S RAINING MEN follows 40 year old Dr. Annie Kyle. Annie realizes just how lonely she is after her best friend gets engaged, leading her to a rare night of drinking. When she wakes up she’s horrified to find out that she send out a text to every man in her contacts list looking for a partner to settle down with. After 37 rejections, 2 men say yes. Now she finds herself going on dates for the first time in a long while, with two very different personalities. And then, of course, there’s also the hot, tattooed twentysomething bartender that got her into this mess.

This book was so funny and fresh! At first I was worried it might be a little too camp, but it really only got better and better. I enjoyed the characters and the whole marriage of convenience plot was so enjoyable. If you’re looking for a fun romcom, this is a great summer / beach read. Now I’m in the mood to have a romcom marathon. 😛

After reading several serious books in a row, I knew it was time for something light and fun. It's Raining Men was exactly what I was looking for. While it certainly had its serious concepts (cancer, friendship fights, break-ups), it was filled with a lot of joy, passion, and happiness. I adored Annie. I loved that she was a career woman, focused on being successful, but realized she needed more in life. And I love that she began to create the life of her dreams.

I won't give away and spoilers, but she ends up with it EXACTLY who I hoped she would. Certainly a happily ever after.

A wonderful summer read - 4 stars.

I was so excited about this book because I'm a) almost 40 and b) single and c) it's summer and this felt like the fun poolside book I wanted. But sadly, it wasn't. I just couldn't get into it. The main character felt so flat and one dimensional to me. And then the first reaction the the drunken text was just so ridiculous to me. I was hoping for the light, fun charm of Emily Henry's latest books, but this wasn't there at all. Unfortunately I DNF'd this book because the TBR is long and life is short to read boring books you aren't into. So bummed this was a miss for me.

The concept was really great, Annie as a character is lovable and the story unfolded well. I didn't connect as much as I had hoped to to the plot, but I could definitely see it landing for others.

It’s Raining Men is a quintessential romcom. I really loved the premise and deeply related to the main character, Annie- a 39 year old doctor who is married to her job. Feeling lonely after her best friend (who has just gotten engaged) moves out, she drunkenly sends a text to all the men in her phone announcing she is ready to settle down if anyone is interested. In true romcom fashion- she has not one but two takers. But life throws her an unexpected third option. So, does she marry for convenience or hold out for true love and happiness?

Overall I really enjoyed it. There were some serious laugh out loud moments and the short chapters made it a super quick read. I would characterize it as a “closed door” romance, although there is one scene that breaks that typical definition a bit.

Julie Hammerle absolutely made me cry for a good 30 pages… She made Annie’s loneliness feel real and honest. Her main character didn’t feel like a real person not only a great rom-com character. Annie was a complex mess of a woman dealing with existential crisis: is her career everything, does she want more from life, what kind of relationship does she want: companionship or real love?
Some aspects of the book were a bit far fetched, but it managed to stay entertaining.

Somehow, the two men who are serious prospects for marriage, the two who answered to her drunk text don’t feel like competition at all to the blossoming romance Dax brings to Annie’s life. So I would have wished those two made things a bit harder, but from the first date both of them felt wrong for her. It would have brought a bit more dimension.

I enjoyed reading this book and I already looked to read another book from this author. I’m glad to have received this as an ARC, it made me discover a new author!

I was really after a lighthearted and fun read to disappear into for a little while and this certainly did the trick. Annie is unlucky in love and when her two closest friends appear to be settling down, Annie can't help but feel lonely. She drinks a little too much at the local pubs trivia night and sends a mass text to all the eligible men in her contacts list - which actually ends up with Annie dating two men, a guy she knew from her childhood and a news reporter who's work commitment rivals Annie's own.

Well written, quite funny and delightful, this was such a great read!

Drunken texts and three different but viable choices for leading man. I liked that the heroine was in her late thirties and that even at that age you haven’t got everything figured out. Fun escapist rom com.

This book and some funny and cute moments, but it was mostly kind of unrealistic and awkward. Annie Kyle is a doctor about to turn 40. When she finds out her best friend/roommate is about to get married, Annie gets drunk and sends out a drunk text to 39 men to see if any of them want to marry her. She gets two potential matches - Rob the boy next door from her childhood and Darius, a hot-shot TV reporter. On the sidelines is Dax, the 27-year-old bartender who made sure Annie got home safely after getting so wasted.

While I was Team Dax all the way, all the relationships seemed rushed and not fully fleshed out. Dax went from crying over the divorce papers he'd gotten served to falling for Annie. Darious was pompous and completely unappealing. Rob seemed like the safest bet, but Annie doesn't feel much for him.

Her friend Kelly was completely unlikeable and Annie spent way too much time apologizing to her.

The ending isn't even an HEA. It's a Happily Maybe After.

All in all, a light, fluffy read but way too frustrating.

In this process, she gets drunk and texts a bunch of men that she is ready to settle down. She starts dating two men to see which one she will end up with. Enter the cute young bartender, Dex. Annie has to choose and goes through some self discovery.

I love that this book was set in Chicago. I grew up in the area and it made me smile knowing the locations brought up; Lutheran General + Brookfield Zoo to name a few. There were a few items that felt a bit rushed, but overall I enjoyed this one. A quick + fun read.

This book didn't work for me. I liked the idea of a drunk text leading to self discovery but the characters felt too flat. I'm probably not the target market for this book but I just couldn't root for the main characters. And their whole relationship felt rushed and mismanaged. I wish we could've seen more softer moments between Annie and Dax and their relationship more fleshed out than trivia nights.

This book unfortunately didn't do it for me at all. I can't remember the last time I wasn't actively rooting for the main characters to get together but here we are. There was absolutely no chemistry and minimal build up. They don't get along at first (and not in a fun way, just in an "I am indifferent towards you" way) and there is one scene where sexual tension is hinted at. And then suddenly bam. Annie cannot hold back any longer. I was honestly surprised when they started making out and I hoped for it to end quickly. It just felt so sudden and forced.
Dax (the bartender) also wasn't fleshed out at all. Even after the whole book I could not give a character description beyond the broad physical.
The large majority of the supporting characters wasn't likeable at all and the way Annie's best friend behaved I would have ended that friendship. We don't know how annoying Annie's job must be when seeing it daily for years but Kelly overreacted. And instead of communicating she decided to be petty and passive-aggressiv.
Overall the storyline was too mismatched. A lot of characters weren't fleshed out or likeable and the ending was just confusing and unsatisfying. It was wrapped up in such a weird way that it felt unbelievable.

This is a plot that could have easily ventured into over the top territory but this book deftly takes a cringeworthy drunk text and uses it as a catalyst for self discovery and growth. Annie is a concierge doctor who is never off the clock but has her two best friends and their trivia nights and needs nothing more. When she best friend and roommate suddenly announces that she is engaged and moving out, Annie fears being left alone, gets drunk, and sends out a text proposing marriage to all of the men she knows. She wakes up the next morning she is hung over and embarrassed but she does have two takers.. Annie faces evolving friendships as she explores what kind of partnership she truly wants, and how she really wants to live her life. I loved Annie and enjoyed her suitors and how they each offered her different things. I was less enamored with her friends and would have been fine with her dropping them completely. Fun and charming, this book was a treat.

I went into this book with high hopes of experiencing a fun romcom full of hijinx and hilarious moments, but I think I fell in love with the idea of this book rather than the actual book.

Annie is living for the past. She has such nostalgia for a time in her life where friendship was everything and she put so much weight on that idealistic time that it clouds her present. I understand the feeling of wanting to stay in a period of time where everything was perfect, but at the same time I didn’t enjoy how Annie handled change in the beginning

There were parts that were fun and flirty, but overall the story was lacking for me. The lack of communication with friends made me irritated, the spark I was craving between her many leading men wasn’t there, and the story felt monotonous and didn’t have the excitement I was looking for. Annie is a 39 year old doctor who accidentally texts her contact list. Answers come from 2 men, Darius the flashy news reporter and Darius the boy next door. And then there's Dax, the bartender with a crush on Annie too.
An entertainng read, well written, 4,5 stars.

It’s Raining Men by Julie Hammerle a five-star read that I would shower with love. I adored this story, it was so nice seeing characters go after what they wanted and yes, they cared what others thought, but it didn’t stop them. Annie warmed me to the deepest parts of my toes, from her strength for others, to her random quiz knowledge she made me smile at every turn, especially for how she is for Joanne and Boo. Annie may be the main character in this story, but she wasn’t the only one I adored, there were so many, even Kelly when she was at her most Bridezilla, you knew there was something else. Then we have the Batchelors, who would you choose? I know I was happy with Annie’s choice in the end. This is a heart-warming rom com of a read that will warm even the coldest hearts as well as keep you guessing and increase your trivia knowledge, what more can you want?

This is a quick, fun, light hearted read. I liked that there was a story surrounding the romance aspect. So many friends and side characters but they weren’t just flat. Also I love when dogs have people names. #teamJoanne

This is the sort of story where you know where it’ll go, and which guy it’ll be, from the get go. Even so, it’s fun to see Annie figure herself and her world out to get to it.
The end relationship did feel like it maybe it could have and should have had more depth to it though. That said, I liked that the HEA was a bit more realistic than you often see.
