Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

Chapters are by the zodiac signs which makes it easy to read and understand to ones like me on how they work as well as their meanings , plus the author talks about which serial killer fells under what month as well as their signs and how they played a part in that person life . So check this one out as well .

I din't believe in astrology so I wanted to read this one for the laughs. It was okay. I didn't take it seriously, I won't lie, this is just not something I believe in

I always kinda laugh when people talk about serial killers and astrology, mostly because if we're entirely honest, there's no reason to even consider it. It would never stand up in court, if you split the calendar into 12, you're going to find a lot of people in each "set". Of the zodiac signs, Pisces, Scorpio, Cancer seem to be quite common, but there's not an exhaustive list out there, so, it's kinda hard to judge fully.
Nevertheless, as an examination of the horoscope and serial killers this was an ok book to dip in and out of. I didn't read it all at once - I didn't even read it in one go - I just read a few chapters here and there till I finished.
A not bad reference book, but I'm sure that the information in there isn't anything new, even the speculations of the author have really been things I've seen before.

I requested this more because of the serial killer aspect, as I'm not so much into astrology, but it was fascinating nonetheless.

I felt that while some of them were heavier on the killers, and some were heavier on the astrology, this was a solidly average book. I was interested, but it wasn't the best true crime book I've ever read. I'm glad to have had the chance to read a different aspect of the science, though.

The Astrology of Serial Killers: What the Zodiac Reveals About History's Most Notorious Criminals by Rhys Navarro is an interesting perspective on serial killers but not exactly what I was expecting but a decent read. #TheAstrologyofSerialKillers #NetGalley

A very unique true crime book that dives deep into the natal chart of notorious serial killers and how the stars impacted their crimes. Highly recommended for those interested in the zodiac and true crime fanatics.

Interesting book about many serial killers who operated throughout the world, the book tries to match the crimes they committed against astrology readings a the time of their birth.
For people who are really interested in astrology, this book would hit the mark. As it gives a good casework and breakdown on the alignments of the zodiac.
I found that the early childhood experienced probably added to the reason these serial killers killed.

This is a solid read if you're interested in true crime and serial killers. Navarro goes over the history of many serial killers, then adds on information on them astrologically. I've never seen a book look at the astrology of serial killers before, and it was an interesting read. I'm not fully convinced--lots of people were born on those same days at those same times--so the idea of predicting a serial killer based off that falls flat for me. But it was an interesting book, nonetheless.

I went into this book ready for a study on the correlation of serial killers and astrology. I have always been interested in the nature vs. nurture argument for serial killers, and a little while ago I started studying astrology, so this book sounds perfect for me. This would be an okay book for beginners, however, this book was not informative at all for me.
It gave very stereotypical and surface level views of each astrological sign and placement. Like all Cancer placements are emotional and all Taurus placements are super stubborn. It all depends on a person’s whole natal chart. The author didn’t talk about any individuality within different charts. The book just seems to show that everyone with a Scorpio moon is the same, when really a person with a Pisces sun and Scorpio moon is very different from a person with an Aries sun and Scorpio moon. As I said, it depends on the whole natal chart.
The book didn’t reveal any of the killers’ motivations. I went into the book thinking that I would get insight into why the killers could’ve possibly done what they did, but I didn’t learn anything new that I didn’t already know from the few documentaries I’ve seen about some of the killers.
I even occasionally found myself questioning if the interpretations were accurate. However, that could be because the author used the whole sign house system and I’ve always used the placidus house system.
I do think that this book would be good for people that are brand new to astrology, and who also have an interest in serial killers. I’ll give this book 2 stars instead of 1 because I know a complete novice could enjoy it. But this book wouldn’t even be informative to someone with a basic knowledge for astrology.

TW: serial murder, rape, abuse (child and adult)

Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this arc. All opinions are my own.

I have always been interested in astrology and I love true crime so I loved the opportunity to check this out! I never considered (despite my interests) to look into how the cosmic forces could shape and create serial killers. It was evident this was well researched and that a lot of hard work had gone into this book.

Interesting concept, but I struggled to stay interested the entire time. Would not buy the book or attempt to read again.

Disclaimer: I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was an interesting look at the cosmic forces which helped to shape the lives of people who became serial killers. It was well written, and researched. However, it might have been better presented. Maybe when listing an individual's traits, showing examples, making the the brief background more of a genealogy and list of offences because of this. Also, there's nothing to indicate the there will be a Vol 2.

I have seen so many posts and memes circling the internet about the zodiac signs of heinous murderers, so to get to read a book exploring these subjects was so much fun. I will definitely be recommending this book to friends, library patrons, and beyond.

This was a very interesting take on a True Crime book. The summaries of the the killer's childhood and crimes was very good. The Astrology was interesting but I do wish the discussion of how the two fit together would have been more detailed. All and all it was a quick interesting read.

Thank you to Netgalley and BooksGoSocial for the arc of The Astrology of Serial Killers by Rhys Navarro.

Great work well written,

I’ve been skeptical of books that try to match serial killers with Zodiac signs. These individuals are very difficult to categorize because there is such a wide range of psychopathy involved. Simplifying their demons or urges is a difficult task by any standard applied. I liked the concise nature of this book but found it far too simple an explanation for these killers.
I would recommend a book like this for fans of astrology and the zodiac tables For me though, it wasn’t in any way a plausible explanation or enlightening as far as a look into the minds of these killers.

I had so much hype for this book. I have always liked reading about serial killer and learning more about them. This book kind of feel flat for me. It took me a little to get into the book all to lose focus shortly. I would suggest this book to friends though.

"The Astrology of Serial Killers" by Rhys Navarro poses an answer to the question: "what turns a person into a serial killer?"--perhaps their fates were written in the stars. Navarro's rough summaries of 24 serial killers and their crimes are separated by the astrological signs of the killers. The author does a good job of giving the reader an introduction to astrology and each astrological sign.

While serial killers have fascinated me for awhile and I am constantly a consumer of true crime books, podcasts, and other media, I am not familiar with astrology or a big believer in it. However, I approached this book with an open mind and was left unfulfilled. I wish that there were more details about the serial killers, their lives and crimes, in this book. Additionally, while Navarro gives an interesting overview of each astrological sign in this book, the explanations and interpretations for how it potentially affected these serial killers is a bit general or "cookie cutter." I wish that the author explained the correlation between astrology and becoming a serial killer in more detail for each individual summarized in this book.

Overall, this is an interesting, quick read and while not my favorite way to approach true crime, I look forward to seeing what else this author comes out with in the future.

Thank you to Rhys Navarro, NetGalley, and BooksGoSocial for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Compelling read as I have interests in astrology and criminology. The book is short and concise, conveying the information it needs to, Organized well, as each section is based around each zodiac sign
