This is a robust, highly readable, page-turning book with sympathetic characters and a carefully-researched plot and premise, with the stand-out quality of intimately portraying wrongdoing and betrayal by people of color in power instead of white versus other. It is propulsive and I hope the start of a series for the author and I think is going to be really well-received. The portrayals of PTSD and suicidality are moving and risk-taking and will make this book an important library selection as well.

I really enjoyed the novel over a 2 day read. At times a break was needed to sit and reflect on the connections developed during the read. It was easy to be a part of the journey with both Eli and Liza and grasp the devastation created by the wrongful conviction of Langston. A very emotional novel capturing love, commitment and perseverance. Well written and a great narrative. Highly recommended for readers across several genres. Well done Robert Justice.
