I love K L Slater but I really struggled with this one. I ended up buying the audiobook to finish it.

I really liked the twist concerning the hit and run. I also thought the ultimate resolution to the case in the podcast was done well. However, the whole podcast thing has been done a lot recently and none of the characters stood out at all; none were so endearing (or on the flip side so unlikeable) that I cared about what happened to them.\

Overall I always enjoy KL Slater's writing style, this one just wasn't my favorite,

Esme hosts a podcast about women in prison. Her latest subject is Simone who is serving time for killing her husband with her son in the next room. While Esme is working on the podcast drama is unfolding in her own life. Issues with her sister, her son, her soon to be ex-husband….there are many story lines happening.

For me this book had too much going on and several extraneous characters that I thought were going to turn into a bigger part of the story and never did. It was fairly predictable and the ending felt rushed to me.

3.5 - 4 stars. This book was quite suspenseful and it kept me guessing 'til the end. I had a list of suspects in my head, but the story didn't turn out the way I imagined. There was an interesting twist that I couldn't think up.

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. This book started out sleep we but about halfway through it really picked up. I was able to figure out most of the twists but it was another enjoyable read by this author.

Esme Fox is a journalist who runs her own media company with her sister, Michelle. Esme got an opportunity to interview Simone Fischer, the woman who murdered her husband while her son, Andrew was in the room playing computer games. Simone has remained silent all these years as to why she killed her abusive husband and Esme is determined to get the full story.
Esme is struggling with her life and her 9 year old son, Zachary, had been a victim of a hit and run. Esme and her husband Owen have been separated, with Michelle's help in the care of her son. Michelle is the best sister Esme could have hoped and they work well together in the company until an afternoon that Michelle did not show up for an important meeting.

This is so engaging and it keeps me turning the pages. I did enjoy it from the start. The twist and turn got me guessing and well... I kind of got the ending right, but still, this is good! It's definitely an easy face paced read. I will check out KL Slater's other books for sure.

Thanks so much to @netgalley and @bookouture for this advance digital copy!

Another great book from one of my favourite authors. I thought I had figured out the storyline, but with all the twists, I was wrong. Highly recommended and well worth five stars . Great work !

I found this book to be what I call an 'easy read'. It's an easy book to dip in and out of. Although I enjoyed the book it didn't excite me as much as I expected. Throughout the book I felt although I didn't trust any of the characters which took the shock element away from the overall twist. Although I wasn't shocked I did enjoy the story and liked how certain parts of the story came together at the end. This was the first book I've read by K L Slater and would definitely read another!

The story of Esme Fox and her pod casts of a convicted killer. She wants the world to know what really happened that day with Simone Fischer. Esme is separated from her husband and lives with her sister Michelle who helps look after her son. However, a vicious attack takes place. But why? And what could possibly the motive? Esme suffers serious betrayal in more ways than one and from the people you would never expect it from. But does it all end well? Another great, gripping story with lots of twists!

What I can tell you is you need this book in your life for however few hours it takes you to read it. It is worth the time. The pages turn themselves and I was completely mesmerized and could not stop wanting to know what would come next. It’s almost like a closed room mystery thriller in that the world is limited to a few characters that are all of the book’s action. So much unknown about who is telling the truth, who is lying and who might be gaslighting who. Highly recommend for those that want to binge read amazing fiction. Congratulations to the author and publisher, I can’t see a scenario where this isn’t a hit.

Not the thriller I am used to from this author but definitely worth the read. Twists and turns and a good amount of characters/ suspects. Thanks to NetGalley for the privilege to read and review this book.

Excellent book! This book had me guessing the whole time. Of course, not many of my guesses were correct. Well written, excellent characters the whole package for a great night read.

K.L. Slater never disappoints and this one certainly didn't!
I did not find it as gripping as others from this author, but still I loved the plot line, the twists and turns, and would recommend it.
Thank you to NetGalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review!

In this story nothing is as it seems. The only persons I found myself trusting in were Zachary and Esme. Even if Esme sometimes has a hard time believing in herself.... And I couldn’t pinpoint who the evilest person was. Every time I thought all made sense, someone came around and did something even nastier and threw me for a loop. Brilliant story, I highly recommend not only this book but books written by K. L. Slater in general!

I’ve read a few of the author's books over the years and this one didn't disappoint in delivering twisted turns and shocking conclusions.

It deals with a triggering topic of marital abuse that many times goes overlooked and when it's not only the husband who is guilty of it, things go on even more over the line regarding some events.

Esme starts a crime podcast that will bring back cold cases and murders long buried. Of course there are people who will try to do everything to impede her unveiling the truths, especially since her first guest is Simone, a woman who was incarcerated for the murder of her abusive husband

There are so many twists in here that kept me wanting to know more, to discover what really happened that I had to read everything in one sitting.

If you're looking for an addictive and emotional rollercoaster ride, this thriller is definitely for you.

What I really love about The Evidence is that it’s current. The main character Esme runs her own media company with a very successful podcast. Podcasts are a very popular thing right now and social media is of course huge. When Esme records her podcast I felt her talking straight at me, as if I was listening to the book instead of reading it! If you get me!

Esme is recording a podcast talking to Simone Fischer from inside prison where she is serving a sentence for killing her husband. She hopes that this podcast will put her media company on the map and secure a safe and financial future for her and her son. Who has an old leg injury from being knocked down by a car. But it seems that Esme’s podcast is bringing the wrong kind of attention to her and her family. I can’t say any more but you will not believe what you are reading!!!!

Esme’s world really does turn upside down in this addictive thriller. I found it hard to put down, unexpected twists and turns all over the place. Domestic abuse is a big plotline in this one, and you truly never know what goes on behind closed doors.

Good page turning thriller from KL Slater in which we meet investigative journalist Esme and her quest to uncover the truth about a cold case of domestic violence. In the meantime her family is torn apart with her sister attacked. her husband accused of that and even worse revelations regarding an accident that changed the life of their small son.

Good novel but not the best. Some interesting ideas and characters but not enough substance for me.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. I would definitely call this a psychological thriller with endings you don’t even consider when trying to figure out who did what.

Esme Fox makes podcasts. Her small company is just getting started but her chance to interview Simone Fischer- notorious for murdering her husband whilst her son was next door playing computer games could make all the difference. Midway through her sentence Simone decided she wanted to tell her story of the abuse she suffered at the hands of her controlling husband & has chosen Esme to be the one to get it out there. Esme desperately wants this to be a success. She has recently separated from her husband- who doesn't seem to understand they are finished. She struggles to help her son overcome his devastating injuries from a hit & run & relies a lot on her sister. Although the podcasts are a great success, many are strongly against her telling Simone's story. Is that why her sister ends up in ICU after a dreadful beating? Is that why her husband moves himself back into her home? And whatever did she do to deserve her horrific Mother in Law?

As always K.L. Slater weaves a captivating tale that require late night reading to find out the answers! Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this great book.
