I was lucky to receive an advance copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review and opinion. I enjoy Kim Slater’s books and find them completely addictive. Great characters, some you will like and others you will hate but the suspense grows from start to finish and you will struggle to put it down until you have finished it (even if it's way late at night). I loved this book!

This is not the first book I read from K.L. Stater, and to be honest, some of her books I didn’t enjoy very much. It’s not the case of “The Evidence”. This is a thriller like I haven’t read before, It has a complex plot, that’s clever and twisty. I think it’s probably one of her best books. It was thrilling read and I couldn’t put it down until the very end. I highly recommend this book.

What a creepy and deceptive story with twists and turns perfectly placed! I literally gasped out loud!! So many ‘OMG!’ moments in this book. Excellent characters and a storyline that unfolded seamlessly. A pleasure to be caught up in yet another KL Slater book.

This was a really interesting book. Overall I liked it, but I did feel like it suffered a bit from too many twists and storylines. I think it would have been better to just have one major twist. Without sharing too many spoilers, the storyline with the husband felt a bit unnecessary. It was very well written and I liked it, but would have preferred a cleaner story.

The Evidence by K. L. Slater is another twisty suspense thriller from the author. I have read most of her books and she never disappoints.
Simone Fischer has been incarcerated in HMP Bronzefield for the ten years for killing abusive husband Grant. She has never given an interview to tell others of what happened that day. Until now, she has agreed to do a series of podcasts for The Speaking fox. Run by Esme Fox and her company that she has with her sister Michelle and a group of friends.
Esme juggles her life with the podcast and looking after her son Zachary, who has problems after been nearly killed when he got knocked down by a car. She is estranged from her husband Owen, but he is still in the picture. Helping out when he can.
This is an intense thriller which aspects of manipulation and control and I was engaged from the very first page. The characters were well developed, and the premise was original, but I expected more from the ending

Another great psychological thriller from K L Slater. Lots of unexpected twists and turns as you would expect from her books.

This book starts out as a true crime podcast hosted by our main character, Esme. We follow Esme to the prison to meet with Simone Fischer, the most notorious name in the news as of late, since she was previously convicted for murdering her husband. Simone refused to speak about the case...until now. Esme has a first-hand look inside the Fischer home and what led to the brutal murder of Simone's husband. While Esme is interviewing Simone, her own sister goes missing. Could the two be connected? You'll just have to read to find out.

This was my first K.L. Slater book that I'd read and I was not disappointed! Finishing this book made me instantly find her other books and put them on the TBR! This book was full of plot twists and turns that the reader doesn't see coming. I will say that I did figure out ONE of the twists by the time it came around, but the way it was written definitely did not take away from the book at all. In fact, there were other parts to the twist that I didn't guess!

Overall, this was definitely a good read and I will be putting more of Slater's books on my TBR ASAP.

I very much enjoyed The Evidence, as I do all of KL Slater’s books. The Evidence tells two stories, really- the story of Simone, who was convicted of murdering her controlling husband, and Esme, the recently-separated journalist who is telling Simone’s story. Simone’s recounting of the mental abuse she suffered from her husband causes Esme to view her own husband with a fresh viewpoint. Secrets come out and things get exciting!

KL Slater is so adept at creating tension and atmosphere. This book is another addictive thriller.

I always love a good thriller and K l slater is one of my go to Authors. Another read that did not disappoint.

Simone Fischer is serving her sentence for murdering her husband, Esme Fox is doing a series of podcasts where Simone finally speaks out the truth with what happen the night she murdered her husband. Esme has recently separated from her husband Owen, and they have a 9 year old son who suffered a severe leg injury. The story is told through podcasts, Esme and Justine who is a lady who works for Esme. Read this gripping thriller to see how the story unfolds with many twist and turns you will not see coming.

This is the third book of KL Slater I have read and so since I was satisfied with the two previous books I have read from this author, I didn't hesitate when I requested a copy of her new novel, The Evidence.

Though the plot line was good, I must say, this book gave me mixed feelings--a bit of disappointment coupled with it was OK mood.

Esme Fox is covering a podcast based on Simone Fischer who killed her husband Grant some fifteen years ago. She wanted to air Simone's version of what really happened and also know that Simone was a victim of domestic abuse. While busy working with her podcast, she was having relationship problems with Owen who refuses to move out of their house, and dealing with after math of her son's Zachary's accident. At the same time, many people didn't want her to do the podcast based on Simone Fischer. So when her sister, Michelle was found nearly beaten to death in the woods, Esme's life began to change.

Personally, I think the plot was good. However, I didn't find it appealing and intriguing like I did in her previous books nor I found it that fast paced. I found it a bit boring, a bit predictable as I know what is going to happen next and honestly it was a bit boring to me as well. However, there were some twists and turns and by the middle of the book, the plot thickened and got interesting making the reader hooked into the story. The characters were OK, and I am not sure why the author included Justine as a different chapter (won't tell much in the review but by the end, I thought it was unnecessary for the author to use Justine)

Overall, this was an OK thriller--worth three stars

If you love suspense, K.L. Slater is an author not to be missed! “The Evidence” is her newest book, and it’s got all of the drama and twistiness that Slater is known for.

This book hooked me from the beginning, opening with the first podcast of a series that our protagonist, Esme, is doing on Simone Fischer, a woman convicted of brutally murdering her abusive husband. Fischer has kept her silence for a decade and is finally ready to open up about what really happened. As Simone reveals the psychological trauma she suffered, Esme can’t help but to see some similarities in her own relationship with her estranged husband, Owen. Meanwhile, Esme’s sister Michelle is beaten and left for dead in a nearby wooded area.

The action is non-stop as Esme simultaneously tries to find out who attacked her sister and the truth about Simone’s case. Gaslighting, manipulation, control, deceit, and betrayal – this book has it all in spades! As the story unfolds, Esme is forced to consider that she doesn’t know anyone as well as she thinks she does.

I really enjoyed this book! Some twists were unexpected, and although I did guess one of the big ones before it was revealed, it was done in a very satisfying way.

A psychological thriller that’s got all the twists, suspense and is completely addictive. This is the second book I have read where the main character is recording a podcast about a murder case it’s such an interesting idea for a storyline. I am becoming a fan of Slater’s style of writing and can’t wait to read more from her.

A murder, a conviction, a wife’s silence and a journalist. Will the truth unravel and, if so, what will the consequences be? Compelling suspense, cleverly done with a credible cast of characters and a tension mounting, edge of seat storyline.

Having enjoyed other books of KL Slater, I was a bit disappointed in this one and closed it at barely 33%. In that opening third, there was lots of repetition, but mostly there was just constant bickering. There was our protagonist bickering with her co-workers, bickering with her sister, bickering with her husband, bickering with the police. Sadly, I couldn’t find any character in the book to support nor could I find any reason to continue reading it.

Also the split time lines that bounced back and forth between “now” and “3 days ago,” “two days ago”, etc. detracted greatly from the story line.

This book was a page turner from beginning to end. Very captivating with amazing character development. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

KL Slater is an author whose books I always love and this is no exception. In terms of a storyline that catches your attention, characters that have secrets and little reveals during the novel that all get tied up by the end, this book has it all.

I’m never disappointed by her books, they always deliver and I’m left with a book hangover waiting for the next to be released.

As always, this is another to add to the list of great novels by KL Slater.

Esme, a reporter with a new podcast is working on a series with a woman that killed her husband after being abused for many years. Not long after the series starts, her sister is beaten unconscious and is in the ICU. Coincidence or not?

Everything I read a K.L Slater book I think to myself she won't beat this one but im pleased to say she has yet again got a hit on her hands.
Esme has a true crime podcast named The Speaking fox,she is separated from her husband Owen and mother to Zac who a year earlier was involved in a hit and run accident.
Esme is interviewing Simone a woman in prison for murdering her controlling husband as the interviewing goes on Esme realises that parts of her life are very similar to Simones,and when her sister Michelle is left beaten and left for dead her life spirals out of control.

If you have ever read a K.L. Slater book, you know you are in for a bumpy ride of twists and turns. Once again, she does not disappoint with The Evidence. Just when you think you know what is going to happen and who has “the evidence” she throws a twist in there.

“Incredible, isn’t it, that I didn’t understand what was happening...that I thought everything that was wrong in my life was my own doing?”

The Evidence will take you through the journey of Esme and Owen’s marriage and Simone and Grant’s marriage. What do they have in common? How are they anything alike? Esme couldn’t possibly want her husband dead like Simone killed Grant. Could she?

“She couldn’t wait to see his face when everything blew up.”
