You might be special! is a cute and fun children's book for children to realise they don't have to be like anyone except themselves.
The author does a brilliant job with this fun, guessing quiz type book to get children relaxed and interested in the story and what will come next. There's enough pause in the book for an adult to have a discussion with said chikd/children to get them thinking what could be next.
This will be a fun favourite within a classroom and would be not only fun to share but also let's the children see that no matter who or what they are, they are themselves and are perfect as they are.
This book is such an important topic for children today, especially with the increasing pressures of social media and peer pressures for children of today. We need more books like this in the world today!

Sometimes we feel out of sorts and feel that we are different from all the others around us. Ever felt that way? The answer may be that you are different because you are special!

This funny interactive book is a quiz that asks questions to the reader to determine if they might have that "special quality". It poses multiple silly questions to discover if perhaps the reader might be a unicorn, a dragon, a werewolf or even a mermaid, just to name a few. Kids will uncover that they are none of these but are unique, one of a kind, and indeed special all on their own! Kids are enabled to celebrate their differences and no longer compare themselves and feel like a misfit.

The illustrations are wonderful, full of expression and playfulness! The positive message of the book blends goofy humour with a message of self-acceptance and reinforces a positive self-image. "You Might Be Special" is a perfect read-aloud and kids will love the interaction as they respond to the silly questions and learn that they are perfect just the way they are. I highly recommend this book.

Have you ever felt different from other kids? Never really felt like you fit in anywhere? Think that you may be a Unicorn or a Sasquatch? This very cute and hilarious picture book by Kerri Kokias goes through a fun interactive quiz that has children trying to discover where they fit in within this world. This picture books illustrations are fabulous and as someone who used to work at the library running preschool and primary school visits, You Might Be Special is the perfect book to read aloud to the children as they can join in with the story, and laughs will be erupting from the children's mouths with the funny moments of this book. You Might Be Special is written and perfect for children aged 4 - 8 years old. You Might Be Special is also one of those picture books that every family needs to have sitting in a print copy on their children's bookshelves as will become a household favorite.

I loved this combination of mythical animals and positive messages for kids. It was fun and silly but at the core of it about how special we all are. Very well done.

I finished reading this book and then went straight to Amazon to preorder it!

My kids adored this and laughed so hard.

The illustrations were adorable.

The story was fun and original.

Most importantly it got two thumbs up from both my three year old and seven year old and that it hard to do.

This is a super cute children’s book with terrific messages for all ages. I love the inclusion starting with the first page - kids that are twins, disabled, multicultural, and displaying all types of emotions.

And then, all the funny quiz questions to get kids loosened up and feeling silly to then remind them that they are special just the way they are. I think this would be an especially good book for an adult to read aloud to kids and engage them with the questions. The illustrations are vivid and funny.

This was a really fun book. The illustrations were fantastic and funny, I loved the Sasquatch and the classroom photo. I think kids will have fun discovering the many ways they are similar and unique using the quiz questions.

This would make a great book for a group read with smaller children. It would be fun to hear their answers as you go through the book asking the quiz questions.

You Might Be Special! is a fabulous book, talking about the differences between different mythical creatures, such as a unicorn, mermaid, werewolf and sasquatch, and comparing the traits that make each creature unique and special. This book drives home the fact that all people are unique, and that is what makes us special. The illustrations are spectacular, and will absolutely appeal to all children.

This book teaches that all people are special, no matter what they look like or what they have. This story will appeal to children, and it is a great message to drive home to children beginning at an early age. This book would be best read to toddlers, and for older children beginning to independently read. The pictures are bright and appealing, and will appeal to all audiences, adults included!

Thank you to the author, illustrator, publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

You Might be Special is a super cute children's book that attributes personality traits to mythological creatures (for example: if you are suddenly hairy, love the night time, and are a little wild you might be a werewolf). This is a cute and exciting way to get children to accept and love their personality, quirks, and growing body. The illustrations are colorful, stylized, and well done. Perfect for any young shelf! Please look for this book in October 2021. Thank you to netgalley for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

HOLY MOSES, this is the best! I am 100% dying over here! So much freaking cuteness - the words, the illustrations, the sing-songy tone of the book. Love it all! OMG, I want so many more books just like this! AND, there's diversity, including all-abilities, which I love but often don't see in kids' books! Yes please!

Hmmm... A lesson in positive mental attitude and self-affirmation, built on a style of taking the mickey of all those "do you think yourself to be (a) alive or (b) cheese" styled quizzes that magazines and social media get so much mileage out of. It's a broad sense of humour, but I still don't think it would work, appropriating as it does something the readers should not be that aware of yet, and avoiding many easier ways to get the positivity across.
