Kiersten Modglin is an Amazon Top 30 bestselling author of award-winning psychological suspense novels and a member of International Thriller Writers. Kiersten lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with her husband, daughter, and their two Boston Terriers: Cedric and Georgie. She is best known for her unpredictable suspense, and her readers have dubbed her 'The Queen of Twists.'

“There was no way out.”

Grace Duncan lives a quiet, safe life. She was recently married to Ryan. And together, they are starting their lives. Except they both have secrets. Deep, dark, dangerous secrets. And they would both prefer those secrets to stay hidden. So when Ryan decides it’s time for the pair to take their honeymoon, Grace has a few reservations but ultimately agrees it’s time. A secluded cabin in the woods screams romance.

Hi-yah. This was a ride. I’ve read all of KMods books to date, and just when I think I’ve figured her style out whack. The twists inside this book are absolutely insane. This is a brilliantly devious story, with more twists and turns and epic reveals- Kiersten has truly upped her game in the most incredible way.

I had a love/hate relationship with the main characters, Grace, and Ryan. I had moments when I really liked who they were and moments when I didn’t, which is such a classic move from KMod. She knows how to weave incredible characters, so dynamic and full of surprise. Yet, like the ultimate puppet master, she knows how to show just how human they can be- how deeply dark and wicked their desires are.

The descriptions of the cabin were stunning. It was so easy to visualize the isolation, the trees, the shadows, the fear. The cabin comes to life as its own character in a way. The way Kiersten writes the cabin and surrounding woods are beyond beautiful. You can almost feel the cool, crisp air and smell the trees.

I loved the plot in this novel. The twists came so suddenly, and I think I have whiplash. I have long given up trying to guess the endings in Kiersten’s books, and she gets me every single time. But I would have never guessed this ending. Holy buckets. Just when I thought the floor had dropped from under me and that I knew which way was up- another layer got ripped away, leaving me speechless.

This book indeed shows how incredibly talented Kiersten is, what an incredible storyteller she is. The way her mind creates these tales and the execution is flawless. This was the scariest book I’ve read so far, in 2021.

Everything about this book is captivating. This novel is impossible to put down. I downloaded the arc this morning, and by this afternoon, I had finished. The rollercoaster was intense, the twists and turns unexpected, and the element of surprise insane.

This is KMod at her best, yet I’ve said that in every book. This means she is just getting better with every sordid story she releases. Her imagination clearly knows no bounds- and this is a honeymoon to remember.
