Rob is recently engaged to Yvette, who has trouble with the hours Rob puts into his work. She is as demanding of attention as his job is. Rob is juggling his personal life and trying to catch a serial killer. If you like a police procedural read, this book has plenty of that. A trigger warning would be that the book opens up with a brutal rape scene and has a lot of sexual assault references throughout the book. Overall, this was a good read. DI Rob Miller is the Detective investigating the murders.

This is a fairly quick read with under two hundred pages. When a body is found along a towpath. DI Rob Miller is called in to investigate. When a second body turns up, the only thing they have in common is that both women were engaged to be married. Rob has recently got engaged himself. The women have been sexually assaulted then murdered. This is a good start to a new series but the boo has been published before called The Serial Stalker.

DI Rob Miller is given his first case as Senior Investigating Officer when the body of a woman is found raped and strangled on a deserted path. She will not be the last and the team soon discover that the killer, dubbed The Suffolk Strangler in the press, is choosing recently engaged women as his victims.

I enjoyed The Thames Path Killer, which is a fairly straightforward hunt the serial killer police procedural. The narrative is split between Rob and the unnamed killer with the majority, thankfully, being devoted to the investigation and Rob’s private life. I like a procedural, enjoying the winnowing of facts and the triangulation of data, and I can’t be bothered with the thoughts of fictional killers as they tend to be the same narcissistic drivel in every novel, regardless of author. That probably sounds hard, but there is only so much an author can do within the confines of the format, so the old tropes of revenge and misogyny are an easy way to convey the mindset without having to do a deeper dive which would be inappropriate in a novel designed to entertain. Catch 22.

The plot is interesting in concept and execution so it held my attention. As I said I like a procedural and this ticks all the boxes, prepared and organised killer, forensic clues, links to previous crimes, disapproving senior officer, close teamwork and a troubled relationship for Rob. It is a solid read culminating in the obligatory heart pounding chase and confrontation.

I think Rob and his temporary work partner DCI Jo Moore of Lewisham MIT could grow on me, but in this novel he doesn’t come alive. He’s smart and ambitious but a bit of a blank slate. His fiancée, Yvette, is unhappy with his job and the hours he works, which is fair comment, but she seems emotionally manipulative and he can’t see it, blinded by her attractiveness and wants to placate her. Not so smart on the home front.

The Thames Path is an uncomplicated read that held my attention.

Fast Paced, Police Procedural....
Fast paced, police procedural with a disturbing storyline and introducing DCI Rob Miller. Characters are credible and largely interesting and, no doubt, they will develop further over time. Miller appears to have a serial attacker on his hands, oddly of brides to be, can a stack of cold cases holds some clues to the perpetrator? Please note that this is a revised edition of ‘The Surrey Stalker’.

A killer is targeting engaged women? Why? How did he find them? There doesn't seem to be a link between the women, yet all are recently engaged and planning their wedding. DI Rob Miller ,-must find the link if he's to solve the case. He's also got problems at home - it never rains but it pours.

This was just an okay read for me; certainly not living up to the description listed with the title of "an absolutely gripping mystery and suspense thriller". Readers should be aware that this story is the revised version of The Surrey Stalker published several years ago. You may also want to know that the book opens with the rape and murder of a woman as she walks home from work and many portions of the book are told from the criminal's point of view.

Detective Inspector Rob Miller of the South West London Major Investigation Team wants to get ahead in his career so he is pleased when he is put in charge of a rape and murder case. Within a short time the team begins to piece together a picture which might mean they are on the track of a serial killer. Having to spend so much time away from his fiancé begins to cause problems but Rob has always told Yvette how dedicated officers have to be to a case they are working on. When the case expands officers from another jurisdiction join Rob's team to bring the criminal to justice.

As I said, this was okay for me but just okay. This was a police procedural and the writing was well done to show how a crime is investigated, with all the small details that come up and have to be added to make a whole solution. I'm just not interested in reading any more about the lead detective.

Loved that I recognised a few places described and that the author has used various locations in London, South East and Northern England. Very reminiscent of a Peter James Roy Grace novel. I read this book in one day because I enjoyed it so much and was intrigued to follow the twists and turns to the conclusion. The cover says “gripping” and I definitely cannot disagree. Would be really pleased to see another title in this series and follow more of DI Rob Miller’s cases - recommended 4*

as we are introduced to DI Rob Miller working a full on job on the west London investigation team, when he and his girlfriend Yvette are just about to go out to the Bistro in Richmond to celebrate their engagement, he gets a phone call from DCI Sam Lawrence he's now needed in work they are short staffed and a dead female body has been found on the Thames Path in Kew he had no choice but to go in.
Julie Andrews had been strangled and sexily assaulted her body was in a right gruesome state, after visits to her home her partner confirmed she has reported a stalker to the police could this be his work?
The post mortem goes ahead with a gruesome find and more are to follow and he get's the name The Surrey Stalker.
This is a very good start to the series that I enjoyed all the way through loving all the leading characters.
It's definitely a book I will highly recommend to all readers and look forward to reading more from Rob Miller and the team. Well worth the stars and more. A fast pace read to keep you on your toe's.

A good book should grab you from the first page and Biba Pearce does that with this one , in fact it starts with an actual grab by a serial killer no less. Good police drama getting to grips with trying to find the killer though the end seems a little rushed tying up any loose ends including climax catching killer all in a few pages which did lose it one star in rating shame

DISCLAIMER #1: I feel it is important to mention that this book is a completely revised version of The Surrey Stalker which was published in October of 2020 under the pen name B.L. Pearce. While this wasn't an issue for me having not read the prior version, I don't want any of my followers who may have read it to be caught off-guard.

That being said, this was your typical police procedural novel masquerading under the disguise of "suspense" or "thriller" novel. What I mean by this is that while there are some aspects that would classify this as either a suspense or a thriller novel (as we do get a glimpse inside the head of our killer throughout the book), most of the time we follow DI Miller and his team (and then later DI Miller and DCI Maguire) as they chase down leads, pursue dead ends and otherwise bang their heads against a figurative wall. Meaning that while most of this novel is exactly the sort of mundane behaviors you expect from police officers working an active case, there are just enough leads and action to keep you invested in this story from beginning to end.

I also enjoyed not knowing exactly who the killer was until later in the story, even though we got glimpses into his head as he stalked his victims and completed his heinous acts.

But with all good things, usually negative things do follow and this story was no exception. First off I found Yvonne to be a hard character to like. She was in an established relationship with a police officer for two years (I believe it was said although they had only been engaged a shorter time), and yet suddenly it was a problem? Even when women her own age were being raped and murdered she cared that he wasn't home? And Rob when she decides to move out doesn't bother to clue her in to the fact that the first murdered girl wasn't the only one? And not only that, but they were all recently engaged? Perhaps had he had the foresight to explain even that much to her she would have agreed to be more aware of her surroundings?

I also had some difficulty believing that a seasoned officer would go stumbling through the woods, heedless of the danger he might possibly be placing a victim in only to rush at the suspect (and then to do what he did? It was understandable to an extent, but I wish the author had found another way to wrap things up).

However, I noticed there were more books published in this series under their original titles, and I would continue on with this series if the author and publishing company decide to give those novels an overhaul as well.

I enjoy the Rob Miller series! I have been reading them for a while, and was very pleased to get the chance to read the updated version of this book. Biba has a writing style that's easy to read, and the stories are fast-paced.

When I started this book I was like omg I just read this?! The beginning is almost word for (from what I remember) just like this other book I read! So I went on to other books, well they all weren't very goid lol so I went back to thus one! I'm so glad I continued on! Right after where I stopped the book went in a total different direction! This book had intrigue, suspense, action, lots of head games from the bad guy! This was a real page turner! A great thriller! I really enjoyed reading this one! I definitely recommend reading it! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

I loved The Thames Path Killer, Biba Pearce is an author to keep your eye on. His story telling is gripping from the first sentence and it is easy to believe the characters and what they are thinking and doing.

It is fast paced, but not to much. You find yourself reading the dramatic bits at the end faster because you truly feel the urgency.

Highly recommend this book to any crime reader, truly one of the best I've read for some time.

The characters are well rounded and relatable as is their dialogue. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I found this one to be very well written and enjoyable.
