Joanna Shupe can do no wrong. I did enjoy this one more than the first in the series. Alice was such a sweet heroine, and her journey to standing up to her mother was SO satisfying. Kit, as a hero, wasn't my favorite--not super memorable for me, but the setting, the cooking subplot, the Joanna Shupe magic...all worth the read.

Joanna Shupe does it again! This was a wonderful historical romance with all the steam, emotional heartbeats, and perfect amount of social commentary! I LOVED the reformed rake trope because I love watching the hero fall to his knees for the heroine. Kit is so swoony. There is something about a rake who absolutely RESPECTS women and their agency. Even when they were doing their lessons, Kit was always about Alice and her choices. & the way that he absolutely softens for her throughout the book was so sweet. I cannot tell the number of times I was SWOONING. I loved Alice and her journey to finding her voice. The character development of both these books was beautiful to read about. I think that is why it was so good because it was a journey of two falling in love with themselves and each other.

Joanna Shupe is such a fantastic writer. Since the moment I began the story, I knew I was going to enjoy it. Alice and Kit had such great chemistry between them and the journey to their happily every after was perfect. I enjoyed how Alice's confidence in herself evolved through the story.

Joanna Shupe's latest is simply perfection. The banter is witty, the pacing is expert, and the unique setting of Gilded Age New York is a breath of fresh air. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

So far I have mixed feelings about Joanna Shupe's Fifth Avenue Rebels series and much prefer the author's previous Uptown Girls series, but this was still a highly enjoyable wallflower/rake historical romp! I am really looking forward reading Katherine and Preston's story! In the meantime, I will continue to recommend Joanna Shupe and her Gilded Age romances to readers!

Well, I can say that this is going to be my last Joanna Shupe.

So, what I like about modern historical romances is that the heroines are actual people, and that doesn't happen here. So I'm 2/2 on spineless heroines who don't really have personality. Alice was boring. Sorry.

I loved The Lady Gets Lucky by Joanna Shupe! She is quickly becoming one of my favorite historical romance authors. I purchased the first book in the series The Heiress Hunt before I began reading this title. I fell in love with Kit and his friends. I loved the wallflower/rake trope.

This book will make your heart swoon! I love the teacher/student trope and in this book, you get an heiress trying to get a husband without them just wanting her money. When she finds the perfect rouge to teach her how to be more seductive you will be swept up in the chemistry, witty banter, and passion! This book is also set in New York and not England so it's a nice break from the normal historical romances!

I was not a fan of The Heiress Hunt so I was wary going in to this one, but I'm so glad I gave it a chance. I loved Alice and Kit and the development of their relationship. I admired Alice's ambitions and Kit's support of her. Such a fun read and I can't wait for the next book.

This was falling-in-love-over-baking-babka sweet with plenty of hot scenes that I expect in Shupe’s novels. I loved these two together and the supporting cast. I can’t wait for the next book!

Honestly, I've been putting off writing a review for this book because I loved it so much and wanted to do it justice. But the best feedback I can think to give is this: it was my absolute favorite Historical Romance (quite possibly my favorite book overall) of 2021, and I've recommended it to so many people since it was released.

Yes, the cover is steamy, but I also teared up at least ten times while reading because the characters and are so beautiful and Shupe is an incredible writer. I know I'll go back to this book again and again. I can't wait to book three!

An excellent companion to the first book. Enjoy this story and the characters very much. I'm interested in other stories from this group of individuals and enjoy stories where prior characters pop up or their stories are seen from a different perspective.

Boy did I love Alice. I always love her heroine's but for some reason Alice really hooked me. Kit is great too. I love the thought of an exclusive supper club and that a "lady' wants to be a chef instead of being served.

Few historical writers write steam like Joanna. I adore her books and look forward to the next book.

Will I ever get tired of seduction lessons? Certainly not this time. Joanna Shupe delivers another delightful romance centering two complex characters, each with goals and desires of their own. I always appreciate Shupe’s heroines with their own passions and abilities. Cute, romantic, and sexy.

I received a digital advanced copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is one of my favorite author to date. She is on my auto buy list. This book is about an unusual heroine and a wealthy of a rake hero. If you like gilded age historical this one is your favorite new author.

The Lady Gets Lucky is the second installment of Joanna Shupe's The Fifth Avenue Rebels series.
This book follows the love story of two characters we met in book one, Alice Lusk and Christopher 'Kit' Ward. Both of whom were at the house party where Maddie and Harrison got together.
Joanna has a lovely gathering of tropes in this book, one of which happens to be a favorite of mine: Kissing lessons. Alice is trying to figure out how to turn herself from plain and forgettable to a sexy siren, capable of landing a husband. She wishes to marry for love and her mother has all but snuffed out nearly every part of her personality. Kit is a known scoundrel and rogue and more than happy to help Alice since she's got the key to helping him launch his supper club. And he wants to succeed in spite of his reprobate father.

I am a massive fan of Joanna Shupe and I wasn't totally wild about book 1 but that's purely because her cast of background characters was SO insanely compelling to me (Including Kit and Alice! Especially Nellie, too). For me, this book delivered. I feel like Joanna really likes to push the boundaries and make things a little more high stakes and I appreciate that greatly. I did find what happened to a member of the men's little group to be quite tragic and heartbreaking, but somehow, oddly, an interesting caveat for Kit to realize what he really wanted but was too afraid to admit.

I am genuinely excited to see what happens for Preston, and what I can only assume will come after him, in Nellie's HEA.
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for this ARC. All thoughts and opinions expressed in my review are my own.

I'm sorry to all the other readers out there in the world, but I'm pretty sure Joanna Shupe wrote this book exclusively for me and they should all put their copies aside and never speak of it again. It's the only explanation that I can think of since The Lady Gets Lucky somehow incorporated every single one of my favorite tropes into one delectable book that had me alternately weeping & squee-ing from the romance of it all.
10/10 stars, can't w a i t for the next one.
