I wanted to like this book, or at least give it a chance. I finished it, but it took a while.

There is a story there, but it's hidden under unlikable characters, awkward writing and boring story telling.
The ending offers some twists, but not enough to make it enjoyable. And the ending left holes in the story telling.

Overall, not a book I can say much positive about.

I rarely, if ever give a book 1 star. Overall I liked the storyline, BUT the sub-par editing, lack of continuity even within chapters and the various plot holes left a very bad taste. As a former editor I know the hardwork that goes into every book & good editing can certainly make a world of a difference. Unfortunately this was not the case for this book. I can see how chaotic the writing was and this is not necessarily bad authoring but definitely very bad editing. Every line felt it was written by different people who never discussed beforehand what was happening in the scene but had a general idea of it. I would definitely recommend the author have a couple of beta readers or proofreaders. It's not fair that what could have been a good book is left with completely shattering reviews because of inferior editing. The various problems with this book is something the editors SHOULD have caught!

Leaving this aside, the story and sub plots were good. The characters were okay and most of them appeared so smarmy I found it difficult to like them. But if I had to pick one, Molly was a good protagonist. I wish there were explanations for the various plot holes involving Charlie, Molly's mum, Jackson, Michael & his wife. The end was good & the twist was something I definitely did not see coming.

Dark thriller that had you hooked from the off. The book was very well written. Great plot. Very exciting. Fast paced to get your heart racing. Loved this book

I thought that the plot of the book was such a great page turner. The plot of the book was very well written. I truly cannot wait to read another wonderful book from this author. This was a truly great book.

A good read where two sisters moved to a new home after the death of their mother. The writing was slow and subplots sharper. Overall, it was okay, though had to skim read sections.

I honestly wouldn’t have finished this book if I didn’t need to for an event in a book club. To me, it was really cheesy and quite obvious what was going to happen/who was behind the killings. I liked the Niall and Molly love angle, but again, it was really cheesy and unrealistic.

I couldn’t put it down. No Place Like Home is a gripping, page-turner that makes you wonder who you can trust. It was testament to the author’s skill that I couldn’t figure out who the antagonist was & I suspected everyone right until the big reveal! The setting was glorious too & the vivid descriptions of the Yorkshire coastline make me want to visit the area in real life. I loved the characters, the relationship between Molly & Beth was spot on & I adored Niall and Dillon. This is my first Lynda Stacey book but it won’t be my last. Five stars from me!

I was intrigued to read this story as I live just up the coast from where it's set although I don't know this specific part of the coast. What a fabulous setting for a thriller with a remote clifftop location and some pretty evil weather thrown in.

After their mum was murdered, Molly takes her younger sister Beth to live in the house they've inherited but it's not quite the new start Molly hoped for. Beth, resentful about the move, hates the remote location and Molly isn't that convinced when she sees the state of disrepair the house is in.

We know that somebody is watching them but we don't know who or when they're going to strike.

There's plenty of intrigue and suspense in this story which plays out alongside the family drama with a realistic battle between the siblings when Molly needs to play mum yet is painfully aware she isn't mum.

I was granted access to an early review copy of this book via NetGalley which has not in any way influenced or biased my opinions.

Instantly grabbed my interest at the two girls trying to recover from the death of their mother.

Molly has fond childhood memories of visiting a remote seaside house on a cliff, so she decides to move with her very unhappy 15 year old sister, Beth.

But the house isn't quite what she remembered. And they have the pressing anxiety of Beths father being released from prison for muder

Things are as easy as we plan sometimes

Even though I thought this was a slow starter, it didn't take long for the pace to pick up to a high intensity that doesn't let up until the final conclusion. There are twists and turns that will will keep the readers' eyes glued to the pages. The plot is distinctive, the story line reveals deep, dark secrets. An excellent read!

This was the first book I’ve read by Lynda Stacey, and it was an intriguing and mysterious thriller. It started off quite slowly paced, gradually building up into a suspenseful and gripping second half, with a great twist at the end.

Lynda’s descriptive and evocative writing style really helps you get a feel for the location, and the characters are very well written. The subject of grief was delicately and sensitively approached. It was an easy read and the plot flowed really well.

I quite enjoyed this book and would happily recommend.

I read this in a day as couldn’t put it down! A beautiful yet unloved house with a tragic past has been left to sisters Molly and Beth, after their beloved mother was murdered. Relocating from York and trying to rebuild their lives, Molly works and tried to keep Beth on the straight and narrow. But still it all doesn’t feel quite right!

The unexplained mysteries and missing people all coincide with the release of Beth’s Gaby her from prison on parole after serving a term for murder. Who can Molly trust and is everything connected or all in Molly’s imagination and who killed her mother.

I very much liked the premise of this book set on a remote headland with the sound of the sea and the wind whistling by and I usually enjoy psychological thrillers so I was happy to have this book to read.
Molly and her sister Beth move to a new house, once belonging to their mother and her partner. The house is in poor condition, as is the lane to get to it - potholed and waterlogged. Beth is not best pleased by the isolated location and makes life difficult for Molly, refusing to got to school and threatening to run away. Molly on the other hand is happy to have moved out of the house she was sharing with her boyfriend Dan, whom she suspected of dealing drugs, and she knows that Charlie, Beth's father, is about to be released from jail and she'd prefer to be somewhere he doesn't suspect they will be.
Almost as soon as they get into the house things begin to go wrong for the sisters... pictures are moved, doors mysteriously left open, a carpet removed...
All this should have been good and mysterious but I did not warm to any of the characters, including the two main roles of Beth, who was spoilt and self-centred, or Molly, who appeared detatched from reality and single mindedly refused to make sensible decisions. Charlie, was a rather cliched baddie and I saw no reason for Dan to have done the things he did - this was not sufficiently explained. The grandparents were bit parts and I felt they could have be filled out more and given a bigger role.
All in all I found this a disappointing read despite its interesting premise.

No Place Like Home by Lynda Stacey is a psychological thriller from an author I have not come across before, so had no idea what to expect when I settled down to read this book.
He knows where you are…
Sisters Molly and Beth Winters thought the remote, clifftop house would be the perfect place to hide away after their mother’s brutal murder. They were wrong….

Just this synopsis with the striking cover piqued my interest. The book is set on the Yorkshire coast and it fits the story perfectly. The beautiful but unsettling location helps the tension grow as the story unfolds. Sisters Molly and Beth arrive at the house that is their safe place, or they think it is. They are meant to be met when they arrive but find noone there. The house looks like someone has just ran away from it, back door is wide open, a bucket of hot water in the kitchen amongst other things. They sort everything out and settle in for the night but Molly is sure they are not alone...the next day there are signs that mean she may be correct too. Molly feels like this definitely not the sunshine and roses beach holiday that she convinced Beth it would be. What Molly is not aware of yet is...it won't get any better for them than it is at this moment.
This is a proper unnerving read, right from the beginning. It is clear both girls are being watched by someone whose intentions we are not sure about and I was doubting every character that was around Molly and Beth. Already a tense read the suspense builds from the start right through to it peaks and I was glued to the book as I really wanted to find all the answers as soon as possible.
A story that really made me almost worried for these two girls and until the story released it's close held secret of who could be trusted and who couldn't, I was on the edge of my seat.

Well i have to say, it was entertaining in a predictable way. It was an easy quick read but lacked what it needed to be what i consider a page turner. Molly and Beth are sisters whose mother was murdered. They move to a remote house in search of safety and a fresh start which they find neither. There are lots of interesting characters and a location which should be safe. I did want to find out what happened and didn’t consider not finishing it, so i give it 3.5 stars. No Place Like Home is the first book I’ve read by Lynda Stacey. It started off at a slow pace, but as it built, the suspense ramped off. The second half was an absolute page turner, and there was a twist I didn’t see coming.

The writing is very evocative. I love how descriptive it is. It’s easy to be drawn in once the pace picks up. When I got to the second half of the novel, I flew through.

The characters are interesting. I believe they are an acquired taste sometimes, because some of the decisions make you want onto yell at them! But it didn’t deter me. I enjoy complex characters.

Overall, I enjoyed No Place Like Home.

Crime/Thriller novels always have this mysterious and “stay at the edge of the seat” feeling, and this book had that. It also had that element of safety and not safety that always gets my heart pumping.

In this story we follow sisters Molly and Beth Winters as they go forward in life after their mother’s murder. Yet, not even in their home do they feel safe. Because someone is watching.

I won’t talk a lot about the particulars of the story and plot because I want you guys to experience the journey of thrilling and adrenaline driven unsafe moments. As well as I want you guys to learn the secrets and mysteries. For me it was exciting and the kind of story that provoked images in my head. Which I quite liked.

Overall, I enjoyed it. Just the perfect book to read at night. Okay, I’m kidding. Maybe don’t read at night. If you do, you will probably read the entire book before going to bed. It’s what happened to me. And I loved that. I love when a book grabs my attention, this one definitely did since the beginning.
