This is my first read from this author and it definitely won’t be my last!

The Beach Reads Book Club is a witty and fun story about a lovable electrician, Lottie, who walks out of her bookclub having lost her love of reading due to its boring structure and heavy monthly picks. She decides to start her own club with her friends “The Beach Reads Book Club” - you know the kind of books you want to take on holiday and sit by the pool. The new and charmingly handsome bookshop owner agrees she can use her space but the sparks between them cannot go unnoticed!

The characters were honestly so relatable, I absolutely loved them! Was so heartwarming to see them sticking together when spying on Gira’s potentially unfaithful husband and chipping in for Lottie’s van. The twist of Henry coming back definitely put a spanner in the works, I can understand Matt’s reasons for allowing things to unfold but in reality, the happy ending doesn’t always plan out by doing that.

I felt as though something was missing between Lottie and Matt’s relationship. They start off to be anxious and fumbling round each other and then Matt proceeds to act awkward and release mixed signals and then suddenly they are into an established routine with each other. I just felt that the author lacked an important conversation or turning point in the relationship so that the readers could feel that deep connection between the characters start to unfold.

I also felt that the relationship between Matt and his family. I would have liked to have seen more of a resolution between the three of them rather than a gradual build like what we saw in the book. The author could have went deeper with the themes of grief adding to a much more compelling and gripping read rather than a “Beach Read”.

Overall, a very fun and enjoyable read. Definitely wish I had saved this for reading by the beach ;)

This light hearted read is full of quirky characters, dogs peeing, women in labour and a man with chocolate brown eyes.
Audrey had me in stitches with her open views and uncensored chatter, and Sally with her say it as it is attitude.
This was a very enjoyable read for the summer, the title says it all!

I really enjoyed this book. Since it’s written from the point of view of both Lottie and Matt, I was really routing for them and hoping they would stay together. I liked the plot, it wasn’t clear cut what was going to happen which makes you want to keep reading to find out the outcome. I thought the characters were well rounded and believable. The book was well written and I’ll definitely be looking out for more from Kathryn.. I recommend this book. Thank you #netgalley

I LOVED THIS FREAKING BOOK!!! OH MY GOD! I was so excited to get approved for it and even more excited to find out that it was such a quick, amazing read! I love beach reads and this book was the epitome of just THAT! I would absolutely love to be a part of this book club... gin, deserts, and great company?! COUNT ME IN!!

What is better than a mysterious, sexy bookstore owner who can show you his vulnerable side and gives you the warm fuzzies that every woman desires!? Ugh... SWOON. Lottie and Matt are such a fun mix and their chemistry is to die for!

I loved the characters, loved the story line, and had such a great time reading it.

Thank you to netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

Upon exiting the snooze fest of a book club that she is a member of, Lottie decides to start her own. Along with a broody and mysterious bookshop owner, past love and new budding friendships, will Lottie find her place in her seaside town?

Pure Perfection!

This book was amazing and I could not get enough of it.

Props to Kathryn for fleshing out her characters so well in this story. The character development in this story was done brilliantly. I enjoyed reading the growth that the characters went through to reach a place of contentment and a place where they belong and feel comfortable in their own skin.

The emotional turmoil that the characters experienced was written so well that I as the reader felt the characters' anguish, shame, guilt, pain, self-doubt, hope and love to the point where I would get an ache in my chest whilst reading.

Another thing Kathryn did brilliantly was the friendship group in this story. I loved the close ties that these characters developed with each other and how they progressed from mere acquaintances, to friends to people who support each other through thick and thin.

My favourite book by this author to date so please pick it up!

This was super cute. I really enjoyed the main characters and their hot and steamy love connection. Lol. I loved all the book clubs with the names of books cause most of them I have read. That was super fun. Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy.

Thank you NetGalley and One More Chapter for the ARC!

I was drawn to this one, a lot because I too have left book clubs that just don’t meld with my personality and have since formed my own and absolutely adore how laid back and fun it is.

This book was cute. I admit it took me a minute to get into, mostly because it took learning more about the characters back stories to find them more interesting. I also seem to struggle a bit getting into English (British) contemporary romances.

All that said, it did eventually quite fall in love with both Lottie and Matt, and the fun mix of side characters. It was such a nice change to read a story in this genre where the main characters are honest with each other and don’t hide every little thing until it all blows up.

Not sure I could handle drinking gin at every book club meeting like these guys, but the cakes sounded to die for.

I would recommend this one, just give it a few chapters! 4 stars.

This was a fab light and easy read with a little bit of steam thrown in and I loved it! Fun and flirty and all about women supporting women. 4 giant stars!
Lottie is an electrician, which in and of itself is awesome because most female leads are bakers or shop owners or such, and she’s just been kicked out of her book club for not taking it seriously. So she decides to form her own book club, and read the kind of books she wants to-fun and romantic and cheeky. She asks the local bookshop owner if they can hold their meetings there, and that begins a slow burn romance that brings out the best in both of them after being hurt by their respective partners in the past. The friends and family of the characters were fab and fun and I loved Audrey! She was a hoot! And I loved that they chatted about real romance books (some of which I’ve read and others I’ve added to my tbr. That was a fun detail!
Life is messy and it’s so helpful to have a good support system and Lottie and her book club became that for each other and that was just what my heart needed.
Thanks to One more Chapter and Netgalley for this Arc in exchange for my review.

I love this author and her books, this is another one to add to her collection. Loved the storyline and the wonderful characters too. Maybe we will see another book with all the characters too.

This was a great read! It grabbed me from the first chapter, and I couldn't put it down. The main character, Lottie, was greatly developed. I found myself wanting to be her friend!

This was such a good book, it really drew me in and kept my interest until the end. I was actually a little sad when it was over. I loved the characters and their relationships.

4.5 stars.

The Beach Reads Book Club gave me some nostalgic vibes. Similar to Lottie, Queen J and I used to go to a more serious book club. We discovered we both shared a love for romance and not long after we abandoned the book club and formed our own club of two. Needless to say, reading this gave me some happy feels.

Lottie and Matt were wonderfully awkward together. Matt and his sister and father are new to town and he’s the new owner of the book store. Matt is just trying to figure out a new normal after his divorce and the passing of his mother and he’s adorably and awkwardly failing to adjust. Lottie is this burst of light that takes over and just creates this glow of happiness around everyone, and her light starts to shine on Matt and his family.

Their connection was a slow burn but I thought their chemistry was cute. It wasn’t super steamy or hot, but I still found it satisfying and sweet.

I loved the rest of the book club members and it made me want to revisit a book club of my own. Kathryn Freeman has become a must read for me and I look forward to more.

I loved, loved, loved The Beach Reads Book Club by Kathryn Freeman. It was such a light, fun read. In this book, we meet Lottie, a fun, chatty extrovert and Matt, a closed off, brooding introvert. After getting kicked out of her current book club for not reading the heavy literature picks, she and two others from that group form a book club where they read lighter books. The book club is going to meet at Matt’s bookstore on the beach. I loved all the characters in this book (except for Henry, Lottie’s ex.). I am Team Matt all the way. Both Lottie and Matt were such good people that I was really sucked into the story and hated having to put the book down to sleep or adult, This is my first read by Kathryn Freeman and it will not be my last! Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter for the ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC.

I think this was my favourite Kathryn Freeman book so far! There were so many incredible characters, and Lottie was brilliant! I love that she just takes everyone under her wing and is so caring! Audrey was my favourite book club member, she was just hilarious!

I loved that the majority of the books chosen for the book club were ones that I had read, and those I hadn't are now on the to read list!

Such an enjoyable read!

Set in coastal England, The Beach Reads Books Club follows electrician Lottie while she tries to rediscover her passion for reading by starting her own book club. She also holds this book club at the local bookstore with the very attractive yet very buttoned up Matthew. Both are trying to work through serious relationships that had ended, and all the pain that comes with that, but find solace in each other.

I immediately request everything Kathryn Freeman writes because I have enjoyed all of them. Her style of romance hits right home for me. Also, give me all the grumpy/sunshine books - I will read all of them I swear. What I found really intriguing about this book (outside of the tropes, the plot that involves books and reading, and the romance) is that Lottie is a business owner in a trade field, which you just don't often see with females. That sounds like a stereotype, but I can't remember reading a book with a woman in a trade field before. I really enjoyed the representation.

My one critique with this book would be a spoiler, but to keep it vague I will say that the plot lost me about 75% through. It went a direction I wasn't a fan of, though came back around. And, that's just a me preference - but you'll have to read it to see what happens!

This was a fantastic read. Absolutely loved it from start to finish. It drew me in straight away and once I had started I couldn't put it down. The main character, Lottie, was an absolute delight. I wanted to be her best friend 😂. Her relationship with bookshop owner Matt was so passionate and lovely and the way she helped all her book club members puts her near the top of my fave character list.
I really did love everything about this book, the characters fitted so well together and there was no-one to dislike so it was such a feel good read. I'm rating it a 4 star rather than 5 only because it was a little bit predictable in the storyline but I find most romantic books are so its not a criticism.

Lottie wants a fun book club- one where the members can read and discuss well, beach reads, and she convinces Matt, who owns the local book shop to host it. She's still feeling something for her rat of an ex, he's feeling bad about his failed marriage. How do they meet in the middle? This is indeed a rom com for those two but it's also about the other relationships between the members of the book club and Matt with his father and sister. I liked, btw, that Lottie is an electrician, which is not a career I've seen in other books in this (or any other for that matter) genre. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. It might be trope-y in spots but the storytelling is good and it's a light entertaining read.

When Lottie set up The Beach Read Book Club, she wasn't prepared for the owner of the local bookshop, Matt, to make such a lasting impression on her. This is a light-hearted, feel good romantic read that is perfect for a summer read in the sun.

Filled with delightful characters that readers can not help but fall in love with, a storyline that is engaging and flows well, offering humour and drama. I particularly adored all the book club discussions about books I have read, making this very relatable and enjoyable.

There is nothing I can fault about this book, I found myself reading this with a smile. I recommend this to all romance fiction readers, all bookworms, those who are members of book clubs, and those who aren't.

I found The Beach Reads Book Club to be a most enjoyable novel. It’s a great storyline with interesting and relatable characters. After being thrown out of her previous book club for not following the rules, Lottie decides to set up her own. It a book club where conversation, cake and gin take precedence over actually reading the book but also where great friendships develop and deepen. It also helps that Matt, the owner of the new venue is gorgeous and as the book club picks up heat so does the relationship between Matt and Lottie. Thank you to NetGalley, One More Chapter and the author for the chance to review.

This is an entertaining, light-hearted story about Lottie and Matt, and their developing romance. Lottie runs her new Beach Reads Book Club from Matt’s café. While she is a bubbly, easy going, warm character, Matt seems withdrawn and abrupt, with a totally different outlook to her.

There are lots of amusing escapades to read, often involving her irascible dog Chewie. Whatta dog! I particularly liked the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the book, and sisterhood between the group of quirky, fascinating women who are members of the book club. It was interesting that the books chosen to be read were real books, some of which I’ve read myself. I also liked it that Lottie is an electrician, usually considered a male job.

Although this is a positive upbeat story, it also explores estrangement within families. Matt feels that he let his family down when they most needed him, and blames himself for the failure of his first marriage. The chemistry between Lottie and Matt sizzles, but both are unsure whether this is enough for a lasting relationship.

All resulting in an entertaining story, with a great plot and believable characters. Recommended!
