One thing I can't resist is dragons! I simply love reading about them and rarely turn down the chance to read one. And so I picked this one up from Netgalley and I don't regret it one bit.

I honestly wasn't 100% sure what kind of story I was going to get. But I dove right in and couldn't put it down. There was a little bit of confusion for me because this book has two different couples, but I'd say that the main focus was on Rui and Wolfe. And then you have Erebu and Sorin, which I didn't realize were from another series. So I'll definitely be going back to read their story. Now that I've finished, I recommend going to the previous series because it felt I was missing some things for me. It's quite the commitment because it's a long series.

Besides the amazing romance between dragon and dragon slayer, we travel to the Arthurian realm and I found that so damn fascinating! We don't dive too deep into the legends, but just enough of a taste to simply love it.

Rui is my kind of heroine! She's EVERYTHING and that's all you really need to know. Pair her up with the broody and slightly grumpy Wolfie and it's an automatic win for me. I truly enjoyed their dynamics.

Quick backstory, Rui, Erebu, and Sorin are protectors and have a mission in the Arthurian realm. And that's when they band together with Wolfe, which sets them off to a tournament to retrieve what they need to complete their mission. All while, Rui and Wolf keep on getting closer along the way.

All the intrigue, twists and turns, badass action from everyone! It's the total package and I just can't wait to read more.

Sorry, I know my review was all over the place! I picked up the next book in this series, so here we go. So glad I took a chance on this!

I wanted to like this. I just couldn't get into the world. I see from other reviews that this is maybe spin off of another series??? I guess my recommendation would be that the reader have some knowledge of the previous works and then maybe this would be a more interesting read. I may try again in the future. For now I only made it about 25% in.

This was a good book. The writing was nice and this was a quick read. I wasn’t a fan of the mix of fantastical/historical elements and modern references, and since they were mostly made by Ere I ended up not liking his character much. Sorin could have been better developed, he barely spoke, and his presence seemed like an afterthought. Rui character also felt a little inconsistent and he immediate attraction to Wolfe was a bit forced. But overall, I had fun while reading it. Wolfe and Rui were cute together and the plot, though a little predictable, was enjoyable.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters were well thought out and I found myself not being able to put the book down. Thank you.

A new series, with familiair characters. It was hard for me to say goodbye to all the characters I got to know through the Pure/Dark ones series. So I was really happy when James introduced a continuation of the world I have come to love.

I loved seeing Ere and Sorin and getting to know about some of their inner thoughts after being in a relationship for some time and eventhough I loved seeing them back, I loved it evenmore that they didn't take away from Rui and Wolfe's lovestory, set in Arthurian times.

Rui's innocence and naivety created hilarious moments, and it was a delight to see her get in touch with her emotions and her 'female'.

Where Wolfe was the more experienced one of the two (between Rui and himself, but also between Tristan and Wolfe), I found it to be a laugh out loud moment for him to take days to discover that Rui is a woman, where Tristan found out in a couple of hours ride. He is loveable and honourable, eventhough he doesnot think about himself in that matter.

I don't want to give any spoilers, but I really cannot wait to see what becomes of Merlin, because if there is one character that deserves a huge break and true love it is him.

Love this new adventure and author. Truly can’t get enough of both. Every-time I read one of Aja’s books I get lost in it and never want it to end.

So I am not sure where to begin....but no ifs ands or buts I LOVE this book❤️❤️❤️. I have always felt that the first book in a series can be tedious or overwhelming for a reader because of the world building or just being introduced to a ton of characters, but this is not the case. Aja James has a stunning way to writing and creating these fantastic worlds and characters👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 You can't help but become enthralled by her books.

I enjoyed how we got the cross over with Tristan, it was great to learn more about him. I enjoyed the historical aspect of the story. Erebu and Soren as always are just absolute perfection😘 I just adore those two so so so much. Oh boy, oh boy....I LOVE Wolfe and Rui. I am captivated by them! I love their dynamic, strength, and oh god their PASSION 🔥🔥🔥. The story is phenomenal. The action, drama and plot twist are riveting.

Read this book, you will not be disappointed.

What a wonderful way to start a new series! Aja has done it again.

As many of you know I absolutely loved Aja's previous series Pure/Dark Ones and it gives me such joy to know that she has continued to write more. This series takes place after P/D and she brings her wonderful characters along for this dragon tails ride. So if you haven't read P/D I highly recommend reading them asap. Of course, it's not necessary to start this series BUT there are so many small details you miss if you don't read P/D before. Plus, why would you not want to read P/D... I mean it is only one of the best, fun, thrilling, sexy, battle filled, adventurous series out there. Just saying 🤷‍♂️

One of the main (AMAZING) couples from P/D (Ere & Sorin) are the main "guides" for this new dragon series and oh how I love them to pieces. Super excited to continue my reading adventure with my 2 favorite people and yes, I am totally sam-wiched between them for this entire series.

In this series Ere is required to answer the Celestial Summons by the Jade Emperor to help assist other dragons on many quests. These quests are super important since the balance of the Universe is at stake. On the bright side Ere doesn't have to do it alone since he has his love, Sorin, with him every step of the way. Each book in this series is going to reflect a new quest and a new outcome and hopefully new friends for Ere & Sorin.

In this book we get to meet Wolfe and Rui and let me just say I LOVE THEM!!!!!! Wolfe is such a manly man. He is strong, rough around the edges, misunderstood, has a dark history, sexy, doesn't have a lot of friends and a loner. Rui is super quirky, also a loner, humorless, emotionless, doesn't have friends, keeps to herself and doesn't have time or patience for anything. This quest is set in Arthurian times and WOW what an amazing twist to the original legends. Absolutely loved the story, the details, the quest and the outcome. This book had everything... quest/adventure, love, time travel, true friendship, history, evil queen, powerful warriors (male and female), innocence, steam (lots of steam).

Two things I wanted to point out beyond everything else in this book:
1 - Having Ere and Sorin as the guide and seeing how the story is connected to P/D is truly amazing. We get to continue to learn more about this amazing team while still getting Ere's witty humor. I love that we get to see different aspects of Ere and also see his vulnerable side when he doesn't get to mind link with Sorin on their quest. You get to see how they become stronger together. Having them in this book also keeps a link to the other characters in P/D. We are introduced to Tristin in P/D and we get to learn more about him in this book, which was truly a great way to bind both the series together.
2- Wolfe and Rui were thier own main characters in this book and didn't get outshined by Ere and Sorin. A lot of times this happens in other books when so many MC's are presented, but this book didn't have that problem at all. I was invested in Wolfe and Rui's story as much as I was invested in Ere and Sorin's quest. I was rooting for both couples 😍.

Well I won't keep going on and on about how great this book is, BUT I will say that it is a MUST read and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I totally read it in one sitting... I mean seriously who needs to pee or sleep or eat or even socialize with other people...

Cannot wait for the next book ❤️

I regret waiting a few weeks to read this book. Once I started, I absolutely didn't want to stop. And I also regret not reading the prior stories by the author as this is a spin off of the Pure Ones stories and there are references to the prior story that I must now read. What a fantastic paranormal ride!!

We start this story with Ere and his mate Sorin (steamy fun but mostly, Ere had me cracking up from the very very beginning and I adored him throughout- like really adored him). They are sent on a quest with a treasure dragon, Rui and tasked with finding the Jewel of Dreams. There, they meet Wolfe and Tristan. This is Wolfe and Rui's story and it's a fantastic one. They time travel to King Arthur's age and I liked the new interpretation of this story. Plenty of excitement, plenty of heart and with Ere, plenty of laughs. I really loved this book and I'm excited to go back to read the other books in Aja James' other series. Thanks to NetGalley for a fantastic read and for getting me into this new to me author.

OMG I just can't with this book! I absolutely LOVED Ere , Sorin, Rui and Wolfe !! I didn't know what to expect coming into this book because I'm kinda a Pure/Dark one series snob but she did it again . I devoured this book. There was so many interesting things and so many things happening. Rui is a bada$$ and I love to see a female in a role like that. This book is magical and I can't wait to see what adventure is next!!!

Ere’s rebirth in ‘Dark Purity’, the final book in the Pure/Dark Ones series, required that he answer the Jade Emperor’s Celestial Summons and complete tasks set before him. So in this first addictive book of the new series Ere, along with Sorin of course, is tasked to travel back in time with Rai, a tiny kickass humorless antisocial reclusive female Treasure Dragon. The mission is to locate and return with the Jewel of Dreams within the allotted timeframe or risk being stuck in time and in doing so upsetting the Universal Balance. Soooo no pressure huh!!!
Tossed into time without their normal abilities leaving them vulnerable is a challenge. Rai pretending to be a man, has to use her unusual fighting skills to outwit a very nasty opponent and win money and things they’d need for their task. Afterwards, Rai’s eyes are drawn to a very large scruffy looking warrior watching her. She’s instantly taken aback noticing and feeling things she didn’t really understand...one things for sure, this strange man was causing her to feel like...a pheromone snorting female!!!
Wolfe noticed Rai’s unusually fast way of defeating the obnoxious giant’s challenge. He’s not only surprised but impressed and ponders on how a young man so small could have such unique and extremely talented fighting skills. When Rai spotted Wolfe staring, they continued to size each other up never breaking eye contact. He didn’t understand why but neither could seem to stop! Well it doesn’t take either of them very long to figure things out and then the heat from that point on is just so freaking hot! Scorching HOT! OMG! ‘My Wolfe!’ She needed to stop calling him that! It was…doing things to him! It was making some savage beast within shake its cage and roar with hunger! Possession! Obsession!’ Damnit but this steamy super HAF story is afuknmazing!!! The action, adventure, fighting, loving, lusting, mystery, secrets, betrayal, trust, and extremely super HOT SEX is all rolled up into a beautiful beginning of this fantastic new series!
Ere watched Rai transform before his eyes, he even nudged it along a little, hero worshiping the little ‘truffle dragon’ as he liked to call her. Ere and Sorin’s story intertwines with Wolfe and Rai’s in this captivating heartfelt adventure that opened new emotions for them all in their unputdownable quest for the the Jewel of Dreams! I absolutely loved this story!
I’d like to thank Aja James for her patients and tolerance for my taking so long to read this advanced copy and I’m very excited to leave my honest heartfelt review! I was really in need of a complex distraction and I was completely mesmerized every single time I had a chance to indulge for a while in Dream of Dragons!

The first book Dragon of Dreams in the new series from Aja James.

I received this ARC for an honest review and to say that I was not disappointed at all. With just a few errors while reading they did not take away from the storyline.

At first, I thought that this was written incorrectly because how could you write someone having those fighting skills going back in time the way Rui was fighting. And then I thought to myself again that she went back in time and of course the Master told them all that they would have some of their abilities, but not what they would be known for using and the timing was historical.
Wolfe/Wolfie was interesting which was easy for me to picture his description in my mind. I thought to put some thought in describing his appearance and the body structure had to be draw dropping and wide-eyed.

Ere and Soren of course had their appearance which was great indeed although I may have to go back to refresh my memory when he made the deal back in the Pure/Dark Series. Ere is just the character that this author can write about alone in a book because he keeps you wanting to know what will happen next.

I know that each book will be written differently with new dragon characters and I look forward to reading them all. I just wished Cloud's dragon spirit could reappear, but that wishful thinking.
This story is of course from Ere and you just have to love/hate this character, but he is the character that keeps you wanting more of the story with laugher also. You would not want to put this book down. I would advise not to jump into this book and expect to understand what is going on because that won't happen. I'd advise all readers to start with this author's Pure/Dark Ones Series in order to enjoy the entire series.

I also know that many of my fellow Muses who keep me updated on the story before me don't like to share the characters and get to choose them before poor me, but I'm taking Wolfie right along with Rui. :)

At the beginning of the story, Rui is the heroine who is always serious and doesn't understand feelings. She is someone who works alone. Wolfe is the hero who slays dragons which we would call an assassin. Slaying dragons has caused a lot of damage to his body which has left scars that he definitely wears proudly. He doesn't attach himself to anyone until he meets the interesting warrior with the fighting skills he's never seen.

Rui, Ere, and Soren are sent on this quest to bring back a treasure, however, Rui got more than she could actually ask for. I was in my feeling a bit because I was rooting for H/h throughout the story and I must say this author forever has you on the edge of your seat and turning pages. I was ready to jump to the last chapter, but then I would have missed the rest of the meal in-between.

This was another google book to start the new series. Now gotta wait to see who's book is going to be next.

5 Aja does dragons best stars!

Dream of Dragons is connected to Aja James’ Pure/Dark Ones. If you’ve read this series…I don’t need to tell you how deliciously perfect it is. And if you haven’t…well that’s on you. GO READ IT. You will not be disappointed.

So this is the first book in the Dragon Tails series and you’ve got Ere and Sorin who I would argue is one of the hottest couples I have ever read in romance as main secondary characters. Consider them the glue that will connect each story. I LOVE that Ere and Sorin are present and continue to bring the passion and heat that made me fall in love with them in the first place.

In Dream of Dragons, Ere has to successfully complete an adventure with his mate by his side (thank god) for the Jade Emperor before time runs out. Ere and Sorin aren’t the only ones on this adventure though. Rui, a dragon comes along to help complete the task. Rui is the ultimate badass. I loved her naivety and passion and she just kicked ass. Literally and figuratively.

In their task, Rui meets Wolfe, a dragon slayer and she is drawn to him. But a dragon and a dragon slayer…how can that work?! Well, you’ll have to read to find out.

Now Wolfe…can I just say no one writes an alpha male quite like Aja. I mean honestly. Nothing makes me swoon more than a man that can stand beside his woman and share in her awesomeness but also be her protector.

Before this review turns into dissertation length…what I loved most about this story besides the romance was Aja’s unique spin on the Arthurian Legends. I was concerned that the world she built in the Pure/Dark Ones would overshadow this world but I was SO wrong. I don’t know how she does it but I was mesmerized by the world she wove and it stood on its own in its own glory. So without further ado, I just have to say that I adored this story…with its jaw dropping revelations and twists and well DRAGONS. I CANNOT wait to see what’s next.

I totally enjoy urban fantasy, medieval fantasy, and time travel novels. This had all three elements with some very adult erotic scenes.

It also has a very different take on King Arthur's world, which some might not agree with. I found that refreshing.

I am looking forward to the next book in this spin-off series (The characters were introduced in the Pure/ Dark Ones).

Wow! Going by the first book, this spin-off/continuation will be even BETTER than Pure/Dark Ones, the awesome series that started it all…

What makes this new series so different and even more amazing is the one common link between all the books (hopefully! pretty please? 🙏): Ere and Sorin!!! ❤️ Ere is hands-down Aja’s best creation — one of my all-time fave characters, actually — and I can never get enough of his adorable, snarky self. Also, this pairing is pure FIRE! So yeah, having them as one of the main couples in each book is enough to make me very happy.

I absolutely LOVE Aja’s penchant for taking well-known myths (and even some historical facts) and somehow making them her own, incorporating them in her wonderful, original stories of eternal love. I was completely enthralled by her version of the Arthurian legend. It may seem like a cliché choice to some — after all, this is one legend that’s been regurgitated over and over again by more or less ambitious writers since its conception — but AJ’s twist on it changed the game completely.

Combining the legend of Arthur, Morgan le Fay, Guinevere and others with Chinese mythology full of dragons and other heavenly beings, and the Jade Emperor was surely a Herculean task, but she pulled it off BEAUTIFULLY! Everything fit together so perfectly, and exceeded all my expectations. She truly has a gift; I wouldn’t trust any other author to merge so many different plot threads (and time travel!) that seamlessly.

Last but not least — I loved the (other) main couple, Rui and Wolfe. Rui was a badass heroine, not at all one of those fawning and fainting damsels in distress (actually, if someone resembled a damsel here, albeit a very smart and resourceful one, it was Ere! 😂). And she was a freaking DRAGON! I really liked her no-nonsense approach to life, and how possessive she was of her Wolfie. He was a gruff, rough man, who led a hard life — one of those types AJ loves to write — whose tough exterior hid his passionate, honorable heart. I was a bit worried at first when he turned out to be a monster-slayer, but this pairing worked on so many levels, like all of AJ’s couples had so far. Amazing chemistry, great relationship progression. LOVED these two together!

Ahhh, I want the second book so much right now! 😭

I recommend this to all paranormal/fantasy romance lovers out there! Of course, the mother series, Pure/Dark Ones should be read beforehand — you will miss A LOT if you just jump into this.

This is the first book in the new series from Aja James, Dragon Tails.
I give it Five Stars! (That's my official stance, but I will selfishly say 4.9 Stars for a reason I will get into below.)

I will be honest. I worried I wouldn't get into this new book or series. I am not much of a fan of historical romance, and while beta reading this book as the author wrote it, I quickly discovered it had been written in a time and land long ago and far away. But I never should've doubted AJ. Yes, the time was medieval, but the characters, or some, were not. And they kept me hooked to the very last page. But I very much enjoyed the olden characters as well. In fact, so much that I have claimed the hero from this book as MINE!

Wolfe. Wolfie. I will grudgingly share him with Rui, the heroine of this book, because I love her too, but everybody else listen up: Hands off!

So this book, and I predict all of the books in the Dragon Tails series will be written a little differently than what most romance readers are used to. The story begins from an unexpected point of view. That would be Ere. If you are new to Aja James's books, her first series, the Pure and Dark Ones ended with Ere's book (Dark Purity). Ere and his viking-like, hottie mate, Sorin, are my favorite couple from the Pure/Dark series, so I was really excited that their story continued into this new series. Ere is just not a character easy to let go of.
And Sorin... He is not someone I will ever forget. He is also MINE, though I also grudgingly share him with my fellow Muses, PUC and Starr. Oh, and Ere. I guess. 🙄

Ere and Sorin guide the MCs of the new series on a series of quests. And Ere's snarky, witty commentary blend the historical romance feel of Dream of Dragons with the contemporary language and humor I've come to know and love from Aja James.
So I, of course, loved this book. Don't throw tomatoes at my head, but it's my favorite from AJ. I have said that of most of her previous P/D Ones books, so the Muses call me out, but since this is a new series, I have decided it's fine.

And since this book is about Wolfe, I don't mind tomato filled hair if that's what I deserve.
Wolfe is my favorite kind of hero. He's strong and smart, though he'd never say so about himself. He's been tried in battle, scarred in battle and life, but he doesn't let that stop him. And even though he's the most stoic man, he is gentle and soft and open to love. He's a protector, but he sees the power and strength his Rui possesses and never doubts her, physically or otherwise. He lets his woman shine and is never threatened by her. A real man.
Oh, and he's REAL in other ways too. And scarred but beautiful. I'm still swooning.

Rui is a quirky heroine. She's a loner. She sees herself as someone without a sense of humor, but I found myself giggling at her throughout this book. Her journey to find love, her biggest treasure, even though it's something she never thought she'd need or want, was a pleasure to read. She may be my favorite of AJ's heroines, right up there with Aella from the Pure/Dark Ones series. Her intelligence, fearlessness, and her willingness to love endeared her to me quickly. I loved her "truffle dragon" personality and her badassness.

Even though I'm not a fan of historical romance, I am a fan of the Arthurian legends, which my husband has forced on me in the form of various movies and TV shows through the years, so I really enjoyed AJ's seriously fresh take on them. There are some crazy shocking revelations in this book that will have you Googling to learn more about it all.
And the magic and faerie tale luster of the world was enchanting too. Along with the dragons. Cuz, I mean, come on, dragons!

Now, on to my gripe. I am withholding 0.01 Star from my Five Star rating because, and maybe I'm just a greedy, horny Muse, but I need MORE. I won't go into spoiler territory, but AJ, can you please write an extra epilogue from the Four Seas? You don't have to publish it, but just send it to me? 😁

This book was fast-paced from the get go. I just reread the ARC in like six hours. Ok, that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but once you start it, you can barely put it down! The sex was H.O.T.
Read it! And come on the new adventures with the rest of us as we follow Aja James down the Dragon Tails road.

I'm not even sure where to begin! I read this entire book in a few days; it ebbed and flowed very smoothly and you couldn't help but enjoy each of the characters and appreciate their flaws. The only negative would be how Rui sometimes speaks childishly to her love but it demonstrates that despite her age, she is still young at heart. It is a romance with the sex to go along with it but it doesn't distract from the story. The story line is easy to follow, does not require a lot of thinking, and there is no need to have read any of Aja James' other books first as enough background is given throughout the story to understand how all of the characters are linked and hints at their own storylines. However, with that said, I will very likely continue on and read James' other books in hopes they are all just as good.

Rui is a Treasure Dragon who lives in the water near the Celestial Palace. She and Ere and his mate Sorin both whimsical creatures are asked to perform a quest to save dreams.
They must travel to the time of King Arthur to retrieve the Jewel of Dreams and return before time runs out.
Once in place they meet Wolfe who is traveling to take part in a competition to win a dragons eye. Wolfe hates dragons as he believes one killed his father. Little does he know that Rui is in fact a dragon and he is falling in love with her in her human form.

King Arthur is being manipulated and soon things go wrong for the small band that are traveling together.

With or without the jewel Rui, Ere and Sorin must return to the the palace or a time ripple will occur.

The story of dragons is what first attracted me to this book however there was an over abundance of explicit sexual content that takes away from the story.

For whatever reason, I wasn't expecting an erotic romance when I selected this book, but I was HAPPILY surprised by it. Starting the reading experience with a hot sex scene between two sexy AF men/mythical creatures may be my new favorite way for a story to begin.

The sex was hot. The story was fun. The contrast between Rui the warrior/treasure dragon and Rui the sexually awakened woman had moments of feeling incongruous but not enough to take me out of the story. I also noticed that Wolfe and Tristan didn't question as much as it seemed they should (based on what we tend to think the Dark Ages were like) -- like Ere's "strange" language, the clearly sexual and loving relationship between Ere and Sorin, and even Rui's fighting abilities. But that didn't take away from the story either.

I liked that the take of King Arthur and Guinevere was turned on its head. I enjoyed the twists at the end - about Merlin and Guinevere. I hope that Merlin's story becomes more clear in future stories. And I definitely appreciate that while this is part of a series and an off-shoot from another series, the book itself stands alone with no cliffhangers.

This is the first book I’ve read from this author.

But I do love dragons, I mean who doesn’t?
The problem is a lot of dragon books like shifter books tend to be heavy on the smut yet light in plot. I like a good mix.

The start of this book had me seriously regretting my decision to read it. And honestly if I hadn’t requested this book I would have put it down and moved on. I think it’s a huge mistake starting a book like this with a sex scene. Maybe not to readers familiar with this author but I wasn’t. I just assumed it was going to be more of the same and I really didn’t want to read it any more.

The thing is this book is so much more than that and it won me over within a few chapters. But if I’d just downloaded the sample I would have quit.

Anyway enough moaning bout that.

This turned out to be a fabulous quest. An adventure with dragons I throughly enjoyed it and I can’t wait for the next one.

I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by NetGalley.
