Lymph & Longevity is a well-written, informative, easy to read book about an undervalued body system. Lemole carefully explains the importance of the lymph system and how it functions then include advice on how to improve the functioning of the lymph system. I highly recommend this book. I bought the hard copy after reading the galley on Netgalley.

"Lymph & Longevity" is an overview of how the lymphatic system works, why good lymph flow is important to long-term health, and ways to get your lymph moving. He talked about using food, supplements, exercise, and different relaxation techniques to help improve lymph flow. He even included recipes and described a yoga-pose sequence for improving lymph flow. He initially talked about how poor lymph flow can cause chronic health problems, like heart and brain problems. He didn't get very technical, and it's written in a conversation tone that's easy to read and understand. Overall, I'd recommend this book to those who don't know much about the lymphatic system and why it's important.

This was an easy read but it didn’t wow me. However, it was fascinating to read more about what our bodies do on a daily basis from the inside that we don’t even think about and our lymphatic system is something to be aware of in regards to preventing/healing disease. Thanks so much to NetGalley and Scribner Books for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!

I'm currently going through yoga teacher training, which has ignited my curiosity around all things health and wellness. This book was like sitting in a college lecture (in the best way). I loved the lessons on human anatomy and physiology. As well as the practical tips that anyone can implement from the comfort of their own home. While certain sections did require a couple of read-throughs before I fully grasped what was being taught (the nature of learning something foreign) I’d still recommend this book to anyone looking to get a handle on their health,

Its good to know about the lymph system and the "river of health" as the author refers to it as. I was surprised to learn that yoga activates lymph system. I am now all eyes and ears about lymph and its connection. Yesterday I read an article https://www.bioworld.com/articles/511695-lymph-dysfunction-identified-as-potential-metabolic-target which talks about how you can stop the leakage of lymph stuff and fix some weight gain and insulin resistance problems. Good book to learn many things you might not have known about lymph health.

This book contains dangerous medical misinformation and I hope the publisher doesn't publish it. Thanks to Netgalley for an ARC. I am a person with lymphedema and a physician who is certified in lymphedema management and familiar with national and international research. Lemole has medical credentials and is a relative of Dr. Oz. This book is dangerous: he promotes Covid misinformation, has no idea of how to treat or evaluate the lymphatic system and along with some generally correct information--such as anatomy and some dietary recommendations--he promotes supplements, inaccurately describes the treatment of lymphedema--a common condition were the lymphatic are damaged--and promotes deep tissue massage, unsupervised weight training, saunas--all of which are potential exacerbation mechanisms for impaired lymphatic function. The dangerous combination of his absolute certainty, along with his medical credentials has created a book where harmful misinformation is interspersed between generally accurate information. I sincerely hope that the publishers do not publish a book proposing that ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine are used to treat Covid and promotes misinformation with the power to harm the uninformed. Physicians and the medical community are undereducated about the lymphatic system and this lack of education could prevent people from recognizing the harm possibly caused by this book.

Dr. Gerald Lemole’s well-written Lymph & Longevity is a wonderful resource that provides information and explanations on the connection between the lymph system and longevity and disease prevention. This well-researched book includes menus, recipes, and guides to help us with our health journeys. What an outstanding resource that I will return to again and again!

I sat down and decided to look at this book before I settled in to read my current mystery and I never put it down, but read it cover to cover in one sitting. This explains so much and was just what I needed at this point in time. Between my husband having heart issues and me being immunocompromised, I learned quite a bit that we will be incorporating into our daily lives to make changes for the better. The lymphatic system just doesn't get the recognition it deserves and this book changes that...at least it did for me.

A great read for anyone at any time in their life as you'll be able to prevent some of the issues you could have if you don't pay attention to your lymphatic system. A good read all around.

As someone with lipedema and problems with sluggish lymph, I found this book to be a gem of information about how our lymph system works, how to troubleshoot issues with your lymphatic system, and practical naturopathic and dietary tips to strengthen it. I highly recommend it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This is written by a cardiothoracic surgeon describing the health benefits of lymph and lymph flow. The author takes the reader through lymph, its anatomy, physiology, and ways to foster lymph and flow.

Unfortunately, I'm left wondering, what does this offer that the readers can't find elsewhere? It reads like an overall self-help book focusing on diet, exercise, yoga, stretches, spirituality. These are great discussions, however, I feel the objective of lymph and longevity is not well answered or described. To this reader, caveat that I have a background in medicine, this book reads that one should focus on diet, exercise, spirituality, etc because they affect lymph and lymph flow. I feel this connection is weak and lost in translation.

I will say this is a great preventive medicine manuscript. I challenge the authors, tough, to find more concrete connections, physiologic references to lymph, or consider refocusing the bottom line topic of the manuscript. I think the title and content needs adjusted, or a stronger discussion of lymph is needed to support the title.

I do appreciate and recommend told recipes and description of yoga and stretching exercises.

This is one of my favorite health/science books so far this year. It's easy to read and packed with information. The author is a respected doctor who helped perform the first heart transplant and has pioneered several heart treatments, plus has published over a hundred medical articles and five books over his career (he's also apparently Dr. Oz's father-in-law), but he writes in a very down-to-earth, easy to understand manner. His advice is simple and makes perfect sense. Chapters deal with how the lymph system is important in preventing/healing heart disease, cancer and much more, with easy steps and supplements listed to help with each issue. A few recipes are provided at the end, along with yoga sequences and information on meditation and other simple ways to further support our lymphatic systems. Highly recommended.

I read a digital ARC of this book via NetGalley.

Lymph and Longevity was an easy read for a science-ish type of book. It is a discussion of our lymph system and how it affects our bodies. It also gives great advice on how to tune it up and give yourself better health and happiness using diet and exercises aimed at moving lymph through our bodies. Our lymph system is a system that we really don't hear about much, and I found it very interesting how important it really is to general health. It is a system that does not have a propeller, so to speak, such as our hearts are to our cardiac system. Our diet, and more importantly, motion are what propel lymph through our bodies.

There is an appendix with recipes that look yummy, I could eat that way, as well as suggestions for how to do mild, beginner yoga. Lots of good advice for people of all sizes and levels of fitness.
