I am going to keep this simple. I adored this book. I felt so many emotions. It was so heartfelt, genuine, and beautiful. There was never a moment where I wasn't routing for Harper and Dan.

The writing was so unexpectedly amazing. It is definitely one of my favorite romance novels I have read so far this year.

I am also a sucker for puns in any way, and the tooth and dentist ones were exactly what I wanted.

I could not recommend this book more, and I can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy.

You guys don't even know how badly I wanted to 5-star-love this book. I mean, a contemporary romance book about a Jewish dental student?? Where have you been all my life!? Plus, I so badly want to support Mazey Eddings in her debut, which is even more impressive since she is a dental student herself. However, when it came down to it, I had some issues with the story.

Let's start with the good. Mazey Eddings's dental content is on point (natch), and I adored reading about the little dental school, nerdy details. Trust me when I say she gets everything right, and I was smiling along thinking about the colored scrubs by grade and taking those stupid alginate impressions. I also really loved her anxiety rep, and I thought that the side characters were all funny and interesting. Lots of good things to enjoy in this book.

However, I struggled a bit with a few aspects of the story, also. I found the male MC to be too forgiving and a little lack-luster. He felt like a pushover in every aspect of his life, and I thought he gave the female MC too much leeway without her giving him the same considerations in return. I wasn't a huge fan of them together, mostly because I felt sorry for him for putting in a ton of effort that was only half-heartedly reciprocated.

For me, the pacing was a little off also. I lost some steam while reading the middle of the book, and I actually put the story down and started another one before coming back to finish this. I think something about how they got together really early and then sort of dragged along wasn't as engaging for me. I did, however, liked how well they knew each other and their intimacy towards the end.

I think this book was a strong debut from Mazey Eddings, even if I'm a picky, jaded romance reader who has super high expectations. Mazey did the dental profession proud, and I'm sure most readers will eat this one up.

I enjoyed this book. It was an easy read that kept me interested, but there was something I can't quite put my finger on that was holding me back from really loving it. It was heavier than other books I'd categorize as the same genre, and I felt that the author did a good job handling heavy topics like grief and anxiety in a way that showed the nuance and complexities rather than automatically going to tropes of mental illness. The characters were mostly likeable, and I was really rooting for Harper and Dan to find their way to each other. Overall, a good read, but I wish that I could have loved it.

This book hooked me from the very beginning! It's so refreshing to be pulled into a book's world instantly. There are so many books on my TBR pile and this one went straight to the top. You won't regret reading this one! I will definitely be purchasing this title for the library.

Insta love / insta lust is hard for me to get into , especially when the motives for the drama are so silly. This book tried to be so deep but it felt forced. These adult characters in their mid twenties acted like horny teenagers whose sole purpose in life is sex. The cliques in a graduate program like this were so unrealistic. The ending completely and totally rushed.

I skipped a lot of chapters because I was so bored and this was drawn out with nothing happening and I found myself reading the last five chapters and didn’t feel like I missed out on anything.

Harper likes order and has her life all mapped out, order helps her handle anxiety and Dan has thrown a wrench into her order and plans. A lovely romance that also deals with mental health and how life can go a miss when left untreated.

I like ready about things that I have no idea about. Reading about dental school was really interesting and enlightening. We hear about medical school but hardly ever dental. You can see the author knew her stuff. I especially liked how one of the love interests decides to drop out of dental school. The romance wasa bit predictable but still a great read.

I am trying to decide what I want to say about this one. I started it once and quit two chapters in, mainly because I had something come in from the library I was more excited about at the time. I picked it up a month later, and stuck with it. I really enjoyed Dan and Harper, and watching their relationship form and grow. I will say, with the setting in graduate school and them being in their late 20’s…I felt like it was a little immature at times? I can really appreciate Harper’s anxiety issues, and Dan’s guilt he carries to help his mom. There was definitely emotional baggage on both sides, which made this book a deeper read.

Bottom Line: Cute read if you are into romance. Definitely worth it if you struggle with anxiety.

Harper and Dan are two strangers who meet one day when they run into each other at dental school- and literally smash into each other, causing Harper to destroy a 3D model of a mouth Dan had created. They become fast friends but there’s certainly more than friendship between them, in addition to walls put up by Harper that Dan has to break down.

I loved how much Dan and Harper fell for each other, their love being so sweet and tender; but I thought Harper’s complete and total denial that she wanted to be Dan was painful. I felt the plot just lacked some excitement, maybe because I’m not enthralled with the world of dentistry and that’s a massive setting. While certainly steamy at times, I thought it wasn’t as enticing of a read as I had hoped, but I definitely swooned for both of the main characters and their fiery relationship.

This is by far one of my all time favourite books of 2022. It was so so SO CUTE. I was in the mood for some cheesy romance and this did everything for me and everything I desperately wanted and needed. It made me grin, smile and laugh out loud multiple times. I loved the characters just as much this was super sweet and absolutely everything I was looking for in a romance. 5/5 stars it was a pleasure to read

A contemporary romcom with an unconventional setting. Harper and Dan are both dental students who meet cute when she inadvertently destroys one of his tooth models. They are immediately attracted to each other and Dan begins a respectful but also pretty relentless pursuit. The book is special in that Harper and Dan's relationship is formed both in opposition to their personal mental health struggles and also in how they support each other through their periods of distress. Harper suffers from anxiety while Dan is still getting over his father's death and coming to terms with how he's dealing with the fallout, but neither of them is completely open about their struggles. Throughout, their empathy and kindness toward each other form the basis of a tender love story.

I have a new gold standard and it is A Brush with Love by Mazey Eddings. This book exceeded any expectation or idea I had about it prior to binging the whole thing in one sitting. Dan is my new favorite hero and I will be screaming about the way he loves Harper till the end of time for anyone who will listen.

I feel like I need to start this off by stating my review will not due this book justice, but Eddings is a rom-com literary genius. A Brush With Love was a tender romance that left my heart singing, mended my soul, and kept me laughing with its sharp witty banter.

The characters in this novel is what truly made this book exceptional. They captured my heart from the very first page.
Eddings gave us a fierce heroine, Harper, who is warm, genuine, vulnerable, and oh-so-relatable. Our hero, Dan, is tender, endearing, and hot as hell. And while the chemistry between these two was SO hot (it nearly burnt my fingertips through the pages of the book), what I really enjoyed was watching these characters grow throughout the story. I feel like I connected with them so deeply as I watched them struggle with anxiety, grief, and sexism. I love that this story celebrates self-love, mental health, and neurodiversity. Eddings did a great job of tackling heavier subjects but still maintaining a certain levity through her prose. Like I said, she really brought the witty banter and dirty dental puns. 😉 I could honestly gush about this story forever.

So please, come for the witty rom-com, but stay for the soul-healing story beneath.

This was a super cute book. I think the author portrayed Harper’s anxiety very well. It added a really interesting layer to the book. Anxiety isn’t always done well In books but I really related to this one. It was a tad corny in spots but altogether it was a delightful book.

This book is like coming home from a long day to your favorite pint of Ben and Jerry’s: the perfect comfort food. Interesting, original, and satisfying, Eddings takes us through the reality of her characters’ lives without us ever losing hope for a happy ending. I loved it and I’ll be reading it over and over.

I really enjoyed this book but it seems like i didnt enjoy it as much as others who have already reviewed. I cant wait for this to come out though and more people to read it!

There is so much that this book does well. The discussions around grief and how it changes you. Anxiety and how much it can knock you on your ass. The desire to excel.

However, I just was not bowled over by the romance. It is a debut and I would definitely read another book by this author.

Even though I thoroughly enjoy a good romance, I'm always delighted and a little thrilled when I come across a really well-written romance novel. I'm not saying the genre lacks quality writers – more that a lot of folks (including myself at times!) consider this genre one of the easiest to write. And so often as I've cracked the spine on a new one, the stories are lackluster and often hokey. In boredom or even disgust, I have often closed the book within a chapter and set it aside for good.

A Brush with Love is one of those romance novels that restores my faith in the genre. Not only is the craft of writing well-executed on these charming pages, but the author digs deeply into a lot of challenging emotional moments and beautifully explores a main character who deals regularly with anxiety – deep anxiety.

Even better than all that is the characters. They’re quirky, down-to-earth, and mostly realistic (I mean, what Adonis is fully realistic? They always seem just a little “too good to be true.”). I immediately liked the main characters, despite having zero interest in the story’s setting at a dental school.

The imagery, emotions, settings, and romance all felt real, honest, appealing – even in moments of intensity and awkwardness. Perhaps, those moments are part of what makes this book so good.

If you enjoy a good, grown-up read (it does get a bit steamy throughout) with warm, appealing characters who can speak the truth of love, life, and pain as you indulge in some heart-tingling romance, you’ll enjoy this well-crafted, entertaining book by the talented Mazey Eddings.
