Coal Town Kentucky Meets The Modern World
This book is a set of stories featuring a small-town Kentucky woman meeting the fast lane. It is just a hoot! Between the Appalachian 'isms' and the crazy scenarios, you will be having a giggle fest. There are a handful of slams against Donald Trump which don't fit into the story at all. They are tasteless and should have been edited out. Along those lines, the book has no problem being politically incorrect. That being said, I could read more of these stories.
Do yourself a favor and skip the forward. It is an academic writing a review for the book that reveals many of the really cute parts of the book. It is similar to a modern movie preview that makes the film look hilarious, but it actually reveals all of the good parts and ruins the movie. I received this ARC book for free from Net Galley and this is my honest review.

Read this book in one sitting. Gertie is such a likeable character and the book reads like she's sitting in front of you and telling you her story. Gertie's world is small, but her mishaps, mostly due to her naivete, changed the course of her life for better and/or for worse. I felt like that's up to the reader to decide.

I thought this book was fun for an afternoon of reading, but I'm giving it three stars because I don't expect it will stay with me and it felt a little like Forest Gump does crimes (which made it interesting in it's own way!)

Oh I loved this book! Very funny, very charming. the main character is so funny and the situations she naively falls into made me laugh out loud. A shot and delicious read.

Wow! Do I have opinions about this book? First off, it is one of the funniest books I've ever read. If you like Carl Hiaasen, then this is a great book that's right up your alley. The main character is so naive in a hilarious way, it makes me feel bad for her; like "aww, honey...". She starred as Annie one time, in the musical Annie, and she got a standing ovation, so she decides that show biz is the life for her. Well, she meets some rando at a motel and he hooks her up selling feet pictures, but it didn't really click for a hot minute that she was selling feet pictures. I really don't want to give too much away, because it is such a good read. The situations that this girl finds herself in are just so amusing. Like she doesn't understand what "Crossing the Jordan" means or why the warden of the prison got fired.
Here are the cons:
The forward is a little unnecessary. I think the author put it in there to explain the chapters, but honestly, it was so easy to tell what happened, no explanation was needed.
Second, there was no actual "adventure", but I felt like that was ok. Diaries, don't necessarily need a proper adventure.

So, my dear reader, This book took me a total of 3 hours of uninterrupted time to read. It was exactly what I was looking for to read by the pool, and so much more. I would recommend this book to anyone with an adult sense of humor that wants to distract themselves. I think the cover of this book will deceive you, I promise, it's really good.

So, this book is quite short, which can explain how I read it in only a few hours. The stories are amusing, and I like the voice of the character. The things that happen to her are unusual, but not impossible, and there is great humour in it. I really loved this book
