For whatever reason, I couldn't get invested in this story, which is such a shame because I love cats and cat cafes! The story was fine, but I struggled to really relate to the characters.

Princess Fuzzypants here: While Romance is not one of my go-to genres, I have found a good story with kitties is a lovely change-up from the usual mysteries or histories that I read. I did read the earlier story in the series for the same reason- cat cafe with kitties on the cover has a massive draw for me. What can I say? I am a romantic Maine Coon.

Paige is the event’s coordinator for the cafe and she gets talked into participating in a TNR program. She meets an attractive guy and they end up in a one night stand but there is something more. They really like each other and are attracted by more than sex but there is one major hiccup. Josh is Lauren’s brother. Lauren is Paige’s boss and friend. Paige, whose dating record has been abysmal conjures up all sorts of terrible outcomes if the relationship were to falter. They attempt to keep Lauren in the dark until one day she twigs and the cat, as they say, is out of the bag.

Both Paige and Josh are mountains of insecurity but Lauren does not make things better. She is freaked by the thought of them dating and that only adds fuel to Paige’s concerns. This is a Romance so we know that ultimately love will out and they will be together but it was still an enjoyable read as the two find themselves as they find each other. Four purrs and two paws up.

Thanks Netgalley for providing an ARC in exchange of a honest review.

So, not a surprise I didn't like this book. I've read the first book of this serie and I really really didn't like the female MC Lauren. This book is about Lauren's brother and Lauren's best friend love story. And the whole plot was about the reaction if Lauren founds out.
It was so not natural, and I just didn't like the plot.

What the Cat Dragged In is a light and cute rom-com, that follows Paige, who works in a cat café, and Josh, her love interest.
The cat café setting was cute and I liked the ideas Paige had to engage children with reading and arts&craft.
I did find the pacing a bit slow and felt that some of the drama was stretched a bit - they got together quite quickly and it seemed like there had to be a reason for it not to work because there was still half a book left so I found that it all dragged out a bit, personally.
However, it's a fun romcom and great if you're a fan of cats and cat cafés!

This book was sweet and pure and a lovely addition to the first book.
However for me it felt too rushed at the start and I really did not feel a connection to the characters.

What the cat dragged in by Kate McMurray
4 stars

Paige is very unlucky in love after trying online dating and having none go past the first date. At a volunteer event for cats. Paige meets a handsome guy named josh who she finds out is a first-year lawyer that works all the time, Also he's her best friend's brother. Unfortunately, Paige realizes this could be something more than a one-night stand, which makes everything more complicated.

My thoughts:
Such a cute light-hearted romance, definitely has its frustrating moments. I know dating your best friend's sibling can be the difficult cause of some drama but Paige was overthinking way too much. If I was Paige's friend I would have smacked her for just not getting over it. Yall are adults talk it out. Josh is such a sweetheart and tries to help Paige any way he can and even gives her time while she's trying to figure it out. It does end good there is a lot of banter and just that adorable feeling that makes you just want to say awww over and over cause the chemistry is strong between Paige and josh. This book is the second book in the Whitman Street Cat Cafe series. I didnt know that and im going to have to go and read the first one now

*Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for the e-arc of this book as always*

I was glad to dive back into this world once again and i definitely enjoyed this book. This time around, it’s Paige and Josh, Lauren’s brother are in a forbidden romance when they meet at a trap/neuter release event in Brooklyn. After that day, the chemistry is undeniable between them as they navigate their romance while trying to hide it from Lauren at the same time. I enjoy the plot and once again, the cats make their appearance. The writing had its moments but it was something that i didn’t see anything terribly wrong. I was definitely happy to see the characters back and though they each had their own shares of love life moments, it was something that gives us some sort of insight about what happens when you’re in a relationship with someone and you don’t want to hurt someone else whether it’s their sibling or friend. Overall, i definitely had a good time with this and hope that there’s a next book to come in the series.

Thank you Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for an eARC copy of What the Cat Dragged In, by Kate McMurray.

Book #2 of the Whitman Street Cat Cafe, this story follows Paige, the event planner for the pet shop, who is cursed to suffer bad dates, until she meets Josh. Who just happens to be her best friends brother. And perfect. Too bad she’s terrified of the repercussions if they break up and screw with her job and her best friend.

3.75/5 rating. This was super cute of a book! A sweet, basically insta-love plot, where the MC’s didn’t really fight, but more of have to decide of the pro’s v. con’s of the relationship. I enjoyed reading it but was just hoping for more drama/angst. It had the best friends sibling trope, and some spicy scenes as well which was nice for a romance reader.

This was going to be the book that got me to my reading goal for the year, but I just couldn't keep going. The dialogue between Paige and Josh was cringey and their relationship felt too much like insta-love for me. I didn't love the first book in this series either, so I don't think I'll be continuing with any future books in the series, and maybe not by this author either. Thank you to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca for an e-ARC of the first two novels in the Whitman Street Cat Café series in exchange for my honest review.

What the Cat Dragged In by Kate McMurray is a romance novel following Paige, a single woman living in Brooklyn who spends her time managing events for the Whitman Street Cat Cafe. After a slew of failed dates from dating apps, Paige redirects her energy to volunteering at an animal shelter. During her volunteering, she meets Josh, a fresh law grad who is struggling with crazy work hours and the emotional fallout from his recent breakup. An instant connection forms between Paige and Josh, with one key hiccup: Josh is the brother of her best friend Lauren. However, can even this hurdle stand of the way between the crazy chemistry between Paige and Josh?

This book had a fun premise and I love anything with animals! This book read very quickly and is perfect for anyone wanting a light read. The setting was fantastic and I thought the cat cafe made this unique.

It was clear Paige and Josh had a great connection, but I do think it could have been developed a bit more to understand why they felt so strongly. I also think the 'third act obstacle" could have been dug into a bit more and helped this aspect as well.

Regardless, this book kept me interested and I think would be perfect for cat lovers who are looking for a romcom!

Many thanks to the publisher Sourcebooks Casablanca and Netgalley for the ARC in return for an honest review.

This book had me laughing from the very beginning! I was immediately invested in the characters and it’s unique plot. It was a light hearted romantic comedy with the perfect amount of steam. If you are an animal lover or more specifically a cat lover, you’ll enjoy this one based on the fact that the setting literally takes place in cat cafe ! If you need an escape and a good laugh with a little steam, then this one is for you. Also, this is book #2 in the Whitman Street Cat Cafe series & I do recommend to read book #1 “Like Cats and Dogs”, which I’ve read before and also enjoyed !

You can expect :

* Based in Brooklyn
* Forbidden Romance
* Laugh out loud Romcom
* Cozy Cat Cafe
* Fast paced

This romantic comedy was really adorable, and had me smiling and laughing frequently. The use of the best friend's brother trope was so well done, and I loved the forbidden aspect that came along with it from Paige and Josh trying to keep it away from Lauren.

Paige has hit the disaster zone in the dating world, and can't seem to catch a break. When her best friend and boss urges her to drop dating apps and find a distraction for a bit she volunteers for a cat rescue organization. She hadn't expected it but while there she actually meets a guy with real relationship potential.

Josh is a recent law school graduate who is putting in a ton long hours at a Manhattan law firm as he gets over a messy breakup. He finds himself at the same volunteer event as Paige when his boss requires him to do some volunteer work. It doesn't take long before sparks fly between them and they are drawn to each other.

The only problem in their relationship is after a steamy night together, Paige discovers Josh is Lauren’s brother and dating him would be a spectacularly awful idea especially with her track record in dating. But they both feel too much to just walk away from each other. They have to be careful or one small misstep could have chaos erupting amongst friends, family and their jobs.

I absolutely loved this story so much, also made me what to read Lauren and Caleb's book even more now too. It was a sweet and light rom com that had a good dose of drama amongst the sweet parts. Thank you NetGalley for an arc of this novel.

When event planner Paige hooked up with lawyer Josh, she didn't know he was her best friend's brother. Now, they can't seem to stop running into each other. As a first-year associate, Josh doesn't have time for a commitment. And Paige's long string of failed relationships have kept her wary. But when they're together, it just feels right. Can they find a future together?

This book is delightful, full of witty banter and swoony romantic scenes. It's smart and funny, and I enjoyed the audiobook performances. I look forward to more in the series.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the audio ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

What the Cat Dragged In was a super cute, second book in series, stand-alone that now has me reaching for the first book!

I loved Paige and Josh’s chemistry and how easy it was for them to get a long. I love a brother best friend trope and this did not disappoint!

This was a very easy and entertaining read. I loved the character of Josh and I loved the tv show Friends snipets of the book!

I thought Lauren and Paige were a little annoying. I can understand a little where Lauren was coming from but I felt like Paige was so back and forth and her reasonings were changing too much.

Overall it was a great cute read!!

This was an entertaining, well-written book. Cute, steamy and humorous, it held my interest and kept me reading. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others.

Quite honestly, although I'm not the biggest fan of insta-love romances, this one worked and kept me interested throughout the entire book. The storyline was entertaining and not repetitive, and their personalities were so complimentary towards each other that their was a natural flow in the story.

Their relationship didn't feel forced, Paige and Josh felt like they were compatible to each other from the very beginning. Josh's feeling towards Paige were quite clear from the beginning, even if he wasn't sure of it yet, while Paige clearly held back because of her friendship with Josh's sister.

The chemistry between the two of them gave me what I wanted, with a perfect romcom couple vibe - angst, tension (but not too much) and the best chemistry.

Also, the addition of the cats made this story so much better because men + cats = heartthrob galore

This was a good book.. This book is about Paige who works at the cat cafe and somehow can't seem to find the right guys but suddenly finds a lawyer named Josh and has a one night stand with him. Both realize they can't be together but there is a spark of love that doesn't seem to go away. Let me first mention that this is the second book of the series but could be read as a standalone as I haven't read the first book and was perfectly okay with it. The beginning was very well done and I was hooked into the story. The pacing was perfect in the beginning and the middle but then it slowed in the end. I enjoyed the dual povs just to see what goes on between each of the character's minds. I do have to say that after the middle, the story kind of started to drag as the conflict of the story wasn't really that big. So the main characters couldn't be together because Josh's sister is Paige's boss and best friend which apparently makes it difficult for them to be together. For me I would think that Paige's best friend isn't a good best friend if she doesn't support her in her relationships.

The main characters are Paige and Josh. I enjoyed both characters in a sense where I thought they were perfect for each other but I didn't enjoy the way they thought they couldn't be together because of one person. I do have to say that both character's didn't really have a huge character development in a sense where it changed who they were but how it changed their work style in order for them to be with each other. There were some side characters in the book but honestly not as many as you would think. The story mostly focused on Paige and Josh which would be great at times but the side characters bring in conflicts or more to the story that you don't expect. The romance was cute in the book which was instant love / one night stand trope. It's a 2/5 level of steaminess.

The ending was okay but not the best. I guess I was at a point where I thought the story should have ended as there really wasn't a huge conflict in order for me to be hyped over. In some ways I still enjoyed the cute romance in the book but some things could be a tad fixed. I'm still going to be checking out the first book just to see if I might love that one instead. I think readers who want a romance book with cats involved should check out this series.

This was a cute romantic comedy and I was instantly sold once I saw it involved a cat cafe. The feline characters were by far the stars of the show. I liked the two main characters Josh - a first year attorney working crazy hours and Paige - event planner for the cat cafe, but I did feel that they both could have been developed a little more which would have improved their relationship. I didn’t love Lauren in this one (Josh’s sister and Paige’s boss/best friend). I know every romantic comedy has some type of drama but I didn’t love the direction it took in this one. The writing was good and the story definitely moved quickly. Overall I give this one 3.5 stars which I will round up for actual star selection.

Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for providing me with the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Paige seems to be scraping the bottom of the dating pool with the guys she finds on Tinder and Josh, as a first year associate at a law firm barely has time to breathe let alone manifest a social life.

When the two meet volunteering at a local feral cat catch and release night it seems like the purrfect meet cute until Paige realizes that Josh is her best friend's Lauren's brother and she can't risk that friendship and there's the added danger because Lauren is also her boss. So, the two have to test the fledgling relationship in a time where it's hard to find someone you really click with and Paige has to figure out if her connection with Josh is worth the risk.

This was really cute and conversational with a lot of down to earth realistic scenes of romance, sex and relationships. The author really hit the hammer on the head when it comes to dating leading into your 30's and dating in a large city and how you cannot fully rely on Tinder to find your soulmate. It also explores the very real drama that can happen with family and friends mix and how that dynamic can shift throughout your lives.

I wasn't really into the very chill and realistic aspect it kind of fell flat with me. I'm reading romance novels as kind of an escape from the monotony of dating not to be reminded of it. Though if you're a fan of Friends and Sex and the City, but I am heavily leaning towards Friends in a comparison because it was heavily referenced throughout the book. Which was another thing I didn't really enjoy honestly.

If that's your jam then you'll enjoy this. I just felt when all was said and done, nothing significant really happened. The stakes were built and lowered so many times that I didn't really care much at the end and the relationship didn't feel that solid in the long run. if you read it, you'll see what I mean.

I had high hopes for this book. I thought it would be like Call Me Kat with extra rom com added in. Sadly this story was very bland and boring. I could not connect at all with the characters.
