I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

Lily leaves her small t6own with her daughter Eden to go to Chicago. Only halfway there her car breaks down in the middle of the night near another small town. Jason rescues her car as he owns an auto repair shop

Although I hadn’t read her other book in this series it didn’t matter as it was so easy to get into. This was such a sweet read something I needed after some of the crime/thrillers I’ve read recently. I loved the characters and the story was relaxing and although a little predictable it didn’t matter at all. Very enjoyable. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

This is a middle-of-the-road romance story that was quick to consume but did not set my heart alight.

Although this is part of a series, it is one of those books that are set around a place, with characters from different books making an appearance. This is the case here at Port Landon. Reading this book, you could vaguely identify which pairings would feature in other stories and there is even an extract at the back of the e-book, giving you a taster of the rest of the series. Not having read any of the other books, this didn’t lessen my enjoyment. My rating reflects that I felt it too samey to books of the similar genre.

When Lily’s car breaks down in the middle of the night on the outskirts of Port Landon, she is forced to call for a local recovery truck. Whilst the actual truck is attending another mechanical crisis, Lily is instead given Jason, a single dad who is a hunk of a mechanic.

As it becomes clear that Lily’s car is going to need a lot of repairs – and a lot of money to fund it – she realises that Port Landon is going to be home for her and her daughter, Eden. Promising herself that she won’t stay for long, Lily makes friends with the locals, falls into a part-time job and, as you would expect, develops a close friendship with Jason. With Port Landon increasingly enticing Lily and Eden, can Lily fulfil her dream of moving to Chicago, or will this small town hold her heart?

It’s quite clear what direction the plot will follow. The characters in Port Landon are all just rather nice and I didn’t think they were very memorable. Indeed, there is nothing sinister in this plot at all and even Lily and Jason’s relationship doesn’t feature a massive crisis. All in all, it is a very “safe” plot and I think I was seeking something with more drama than what Flynn’s story provided.

The way the novel concluded made me think that Flynn could develop this series even further; revisiting characters from all of the series and following them as relationships progressed. Maybe this would add extra depth to the story but I think that by exploring all the characters at once, this would make a more varied plot.

Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with this sweet, romantic story. It’s a classic ‘girl meets boy’ story that should delight many romance readers. However, I think that my reading preferences, at this time, was seeking a story that was edgier, more dramatic and featuring a less predictable plot.

With thanks to HQ Digital and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoy this author. I have read alot of her books. This was another beautiful feel good story that's a little gritty but make your soul feel refreshed at the end.

Another lovely book by Caroline Flynn, set in Port Landon again. We meet Lily, who is driving to start a new life in Chicago with her young daughter Eden, when her car breaks down. She is rescued by mechanic Jason who tows her car to his workshop and finds her and her daughter somewhere to stay whilst he repairs her car. A book that is very enjoyable and recommend.

Billed as being perfect for fans of Virgin River, A Wildflower Summer was the perfect brain cleanser after reading two thrillers, back-to-back! I was in the mood for something sweet and this was the perfect choice.
Whilst it didn’t spoil my reading, it was quite obvious that this is part of a series, and I am certainly going to read the other instalments. A Wildflower Summer is enjoyable as a standalone story, so don’t be put off if you haven’t read the others.
Having lived that life, I adore stories which are set in small town America. The theme of community is not a work of fiction and I often yearn for that part of my life. Port Landon is rich with memorable characters who all have the best interests of each other at their hearts. As I mentioned, the synopsis alludes to similarities with Virgin River, and I have to agree.
Lily and Jason are a lovely match, and it isn’t a spoiler to suggest that there is a romance in their futures. But that romance is hard won, there are obstacles to overcome which include the fact that Lily is only in town while she raises the money to pay for her car to be repaired.
The romance is gentle and needs to accommodate two very bruised hearts who may not be ready to get into something that could risk more pain. The star of the book, for me, was Eden. Lily’s 5-year-old daughter who despite her tender years, had a gorgeous outlook on life.
There’s something special about a community which pulls together and works to make a difference for everyone. Port Landon ticks those boxes, and A Wildflower Summer will leave you feeling satisfied that romance is not a figment of imagination.

This is such a delightful and sweet read. Lily needs to move on after being let down by her ex, and heads for a new life with her daughter in Chicago, but when her car breaks down she gets to experience the well meaning small town culture of Port Landon and it’s inhabitants, who take her and her young daughter Eden into their hearts, strengthening her self worth and giving her life new purpose and meaning. fantastic story to drift away with, and forget whatever is going on around you.

Absolutely Loved It

Lilly, is a single mother, who so wants to leave her life in a small town and start afresh with her daughter in Chicago. She’s hoping that this will help her leave behind the ex who put her dreams down and left her with a broken heart.
On route, her car gives up, just outside Port Landon. So far from where she wants to be, she’s now in the hands of mechanic Jason. He is also a single parent. He tries to put her mind at rest with her car, but he’s got bad news….. the repairs needed won’t be done quickly. So now Lily has no other choice but stay. Jason wants to make her realise that there’s more to his hometown than she sees. He’s aware that it’s not exactly the sort of life Lily wants.

Now, it’s up to Lily to make a decision, does she continue her journey to Chicago, which will make her lose the person whose now meaning more to her than a friend……

Recommend It.

What can I say? I absolutely LOVED this book.

This is the third book in the Port Landon series and the first I have read by Caroline Flynn. A Wildflower Summer is the story of Lily a single mum looking to pursue her dreams and Jason a Port Landon native and celebrity mechanic in the town.

The main characters were well developed, lovable and completely relatable! The story flowed well and while there was some miscommunication between the love interests not any of it was malicious. Usually I like a book to include some adult scenes however I found that this book was amazing without them, it kind of made their romance more pure in a way. I loved the secondary characters as well as they were full of life, funny and meddling in a kind way.

There wasn't anything I disliked about this book!!!!!!

I loved it so much and after reading the beginning of book 1 that was available at the end I just had to buy the first 2!!!! So excited to find such a great author that I can add to my automatic buy list. The only problem I have is that there aren't many books available yet!

An absolutely picture perfect, feel good romance that ticks all the boxes of a gentle and enjoyable read!
Great characters and a setting that makes you want to pack your bags and visit just to experience that small town vibe so beautifully laid out with quirky locals and kind strangers.
Loved every single page!

Oh what a joy to be back in Port Landon again. This was a wonderful book. Lily and Jason have so many qualities that are relatable to lots of people. Both striving for happiness, trying to not be ruled by fear and move forward. They got quite far on their own, but with each other they go all the way. I enjoyed the unfolding story, with each characters back story and what they thought they wanted, what they thought they deserved, and then what they realise is what they really want. Adding in their daughter and you have a wonderful heartwarming story. Seeing characters from previous books getting their story added too was a wonderful added bonus. I can’t wait to see what happens in Port Landon next.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, forget stars when it comes to books from Caroline Flynn, they need hearts, big full ones!

Get ready to loose yourself in the pretty seaside town of Port Landon.

I just love this series of books, I really really do.
You can just forget your life for a while and believe you live in amongst the characters.
It makes you feel good, gives you such a sense of community and how well people can actually get on and help each other.

Lily and her young daughter are off to start a new life in the big bright city of Chicago, however their car has other ideas! Breaking down just outside of Port Landon, there is nothing else Lily can do but trust in the help offered to them by local mechanic Jason.

As with all Caroline’s books all the characters are described so well and you will fall in love with all of them. As the story continues and you learn more about the characters you feel like you are there in the town, part of the community.
Although it’s the third book in the series, this is a completely new story, not just a replay of a previous theme, each book is unique. I love how some of the previous characters appear in this book and you find out how their lives are progressing.
The only downside? I finished it too quickly! It’s one of those books you want to devour in one sitting but want to put down so you can keep coming back to it and loose yourself a little longer in Port Landon!

The characters and town really make this story and the author just has a way of making them all so real and relatable.

A fun, lovely tale of love, loss, new starts and new friends and family.
And just how pretty and inviting is that cover!
Having all this series on kindle, I can’t wait to treat myself to all the paperbacks so I can read them over and over and have them looking stunning on my bookshelf!!

I really hope there will be another tale from Port Landon!

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers and most importantly the author, for the chance to read this book, in exchange for an honest review.

This is a really sweet romance. It moves quite slowly, though to be honest it's probably more realistic than a lot of these quick romances that hit the market these days, but that's not to say they don't have a spark between them quickly, it's more a spark that slowly takes light into an inferno, rather than an instant fireball. Perfect reading for a lazy beach day
