This is an enchanting book with a delightful cover. Rich words strung together feed the soul, descriptions nourish the mind and thoughts are layered in detailed texture to help you as a person grow.

Whimsical drawings dispersed between chapters guide us through gentle reminders to slow down, breathe, listen and find meaning in a loving life we can all grow and learn from.

I loved this book beginning to end!

I was so excited to read Peppernell’s newest poetry book because her other book, Pillow Thoughts, was actually what inspired me to start writing poetry and pursue a concentration in it in college! I am so happy to report that Watering the Soul lived up to my expectations!

This is a book for people who feel like they’re not doing enough, it’s a reminder to slow down and enjoy the small moments, and it’s a guide on how to forgive yourself. I loved the forest spirit who guided you through the book and there are so many new words that I will harbor in my heart. After one chapter on togetherness, I called my mom to say I love you, which really shows how much this book got to me. I think reading Peppernell’s work is an amazing way to start getting into poetry because it’s straight to the point and sparks a lot of emotions within the reader, that they may not have even known were there.

Despite some of the poems sounding cliche, I found this to be exactly what I needed. Like her other poetry collections this one is sectioned off into different parts, all of which are given titles for different ways to heal. It read like a how to…even the table of contents was given a title to go with the theme of this collection, “Table of Steps.” This collection covers themes of self care, self love, forgiveness, maturing, etc. The little recipe at the beginning of the book was a nice touch, and set the mood for what you were about to read. I also really admired the illustrations of Sprout planting a seed at the start of the book, and as the collection progresses the plant begins to grow, representing your healing.

An excellent book of poetry for everyone-especially those needing a nudge to take care of themselves, that they are special and worthy, and that your soul needs tenderness and nurturing to grow and thrive, (oh, and throw in a little bit of relatable heartbreak in there as well.) Some of these poems really made me stop and meditate on what they were saying, and some even got me a little misty. The art was also super dang cute.

If you're the type of person who likes to slow down and be mindful, these poems might speak to you!

I greatly enjoyed this collection, which is quite different from Courtney Peppernell's Pillow Thoughts series. Watering The Soul focuses on self-love, self-care and kindness. I greatly resonated with the themes of slowing down, enjoying the little moments and to just breathe, as well as those about letting go of your fears and learning to forgive yourself.

The whimsical fairytale vibes, including the illustrations and short stories, were all in sync with the theme of watering and nurturing your soul.

Some have said that this is the author's best work and I agree. Not only does it feel more relatable and meaningful, her writing has also matured.

Overall, this is a very inspiring and uplifting collection. We could all do with some of the reminders and lessons in this book from time to time.

Thank you NetGally and Andrews McMeel Publishing for allowing me to review this book.

To be honest, I have expected that I'd enjoy this book but I didn't. I was definitely saddened by that because I've been wanting to read the works of this author.

I wasn't attached and touched by the collection to be honest. There were few that I thought was okay and had me thinking but majority.. NO.

I was really bored with the writing and thought that it was very mediocre to me.

I think that this book is very beautiful.
The cover is cute and really invites you in, in my opinion. I think that so many people can relate to any of the poems that Peppernell has written. Everyone has their own stuff and Watering the Soul could be really good book to read to know that you are not alone in the stuff that you have going on in your life.

I love anything Peppernell! This is a fantastic follow-up to her other books! And, we have a new “character” or drawing in this book.

I can’t wait to own my own copy and re-read this! Wherever you may be in your self-healing journey, this book won’t disappoint!

I love this book! I can relate to especially some in the first chapter. It's a beautiful journey to healing. This book shows the dynamic of human mind which sometimes can be too repetitive about the thing we do care the most about.

Watering the Soul is a collection of healing poems by Courtney Peppernell. Each poem is beautifully written, well thought out, and incredibly inspiring. I really enjoyed the introduction; it followed a small creature in the woods that shared a recipe on "How to Water the Soul." This was such a nice touch along with the beautifully detailed illustrations.

Watering the Soul takes you on a journey beginning with poems that remind you to “Slow Down” to eventually “Finding Your Light.” I found myself resonating with each poem and it never felt repetitive. This collection is great for any occasion. It’s a perfect book to pick up first thing in the morning for some inspiration, or the last thing at night to reflect and practice gratitude.

Watering the Soul by Courtney Peppernell is a beautiful collection of poetry and prose and focuses on the self. Self healing, self love, forgiveness, letting go, letting new people in, moving on, everything and anything that one needs to take into consideration to grow and heal and become more. Taking chances and holding onto the things that make you, you.
I’ve read just about everything Courtney Peppernell and while not all her collections work for me this is definitely at the top of my favorites of her works. Her collections as I’ve mentioned in the past feel like a friend sitting near me, holding my hand when necessary, whispering the words I need to help me move on or let go, passing me a hot cup of tea when I need to sit and stew over the simplicity but touching beauty of her words, and this whole collection feels a lot like that again.

I unfortunately DNF'd this halfway through reading. The thing with a lot of this "Instagram Poetry" format is that, usually, if you've read one...you've read them all. Peppernell's early works (like Pillow Thoughts) were charming and vibrant and all good reads, so I expected after all this time I'd see change and growth in her poetry. This was not the case. It's the same "I'm telling you that you are worth it" and "romance is like <insert metaphor here>" that I've read a thousand times before.

I'll give her credit, I believe she writes from the heart, but I am not convinced it's anything new enough to warrant another 250 page book. Readers who want something accessible and light will still find comfort and enjoyment in this.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Watering the soul is a beautiful and comforting book of poetry and prose by Courtney Peppernell which isn't too dark or heavy and does leave you feeling like you have been comforted by someone who understands you and cares.
I have read one other book of poetry by Courtney Peppernell and loved it but this one is the best of the two I've had the pleasure to read so far.
This book was very uplifting and thought provoking and I found myself rereading some of the poems time and time again.
This beautiful book of poetry is coupled with some really beautiful illustrations at the start of each section, much like the one on the front cover of the book.

This book has same vibes like other Courtney's book and if you like her or Rupi Kaur, you will definitely love this book. Deep meaning with cute illustration are so perfect to the point. Just read it!

"I was searching for the light"

It was my first encounter with this author so I can't compare it to her other books, but this was amazing. It was so beautifully written in poetry and was so thought provoking. I loved it.

I am not a poetry person, I have to admit that. I don't know how many poetry books I'e tried to read in the past, but there were always something lacking. So when I saw this one, I didn't have much high hopes. And for sure I was pleasently surprised.
What I lovely book this is. Short but inspiring and uplifting stories. I don't know if I picked it up at the perfect time of my life or what, but it definitely spoked to me.
I purposefully chose to read this book in the evenings, just few pages at the time, just to relax and take a load off of my mind. This precious book was like a breath of fresh air after a long and stresfull day.
I will definitely buy a physical copy.

Thank you, author and the publisher, for the advance reading copy.

This collection is the best so far from the author.

The writing is far more mature and comforting than her other previous collections.

Most of the lines talks about acceptance and comfort.

The writing is quite calm and it would be a far more better experience for you if you pick up this book when you're looking for comfort.

I had high expectations for this considering that I'm fan of Courtney's works, but this one just didn't fit my current mood. It's been a long time since I've read a poetry collection, and I read little this year. It's harder for me to focus and this one didn't particularly catch my interests. I think the main problem was that it really reminded me of one of Courtney's previous works I Hope You Stay and I didn't like that one either. I hope I'll like Courtney's next collection more.

I really enjoyed this collection of Courtney Peppernell’s poetry. There were times where it felt like I was reading a self-help book which was interesting. I loved that mix of poetry and self-help. A couple of the themes that the poems focused on are forgiveness and gratitude. There are 9 chapters in the book with illustrations at the beginning of each of the chapters. The illustrations went really well with the poems. I really enjoyed reading this collection and can’t wait to read the next one.
