Genre: Mystery & Thrillers

Sipping Synopsis: “Sorry”- this is the cryptic text that Esther received from Robin, her loving and devoted husband. A husband who seemed to have run off with their 2-year-old daughter, Riley.

“Sorry” is NOT how I felt for any of THE most unlikable characters. I wanted to feel sorry for Esther, but I think she just did not make smart moves. Robin was sketchy from the start. And then the friends were almost like frenemies.

“Sorry” is how I felt at the ending. Without spoiling anything, I was so drawn in for most of the story, like 85% then I felt a little letdown because of the ending.

Final sipping thoughts: Although the ending was not exactly how I would have wanted it to go, I still enjoyed reading The Perfect Father. Most of the time, I was on the edge of my seat. The twist and reveals were not earthshattering but pretty juicy, some foreseeable and others jaw dropping. I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about Hyperemesis gravidarum which is a rare sickness that plague pregnant woman. I would recommend this book because I know that a lot of people would love the ending-I like just a little more darkness in my thrillers, lol.

Cheers and thank you to @NetGalley and @MobiusBooks for an advanced copy of @ThePerfectFather

The perfect mate and partner? One who stays home with the child while the wife works? Then why was he leaving in a hurry? Robin is a complicated person. Readers get to know him, wife Esther, and daughter Riley. What Esther doesn’t know is the only thing Robin is really good at is lying. The author shifts back and forth between the past and present so readers can digest all the backstory that led to Robin leaving with Riley. One character is very evil, pernicious, and menacing, I figured out one thing that would happen and agreed wholeheartedly with the action taken. The question is does anyone really know, I mean, really know someone else?

This was my first time reading a book by Charlotte Duckworth and it definitely won’t be my last! I loved that the plot was complex and found the characters interesting. There were plenty of shocking twists along the way, but I felt the ending was a tad predictable. Overall, it was a great book that I’ll be recommending to fans of psychological thrillers.

This book was like nothing else I’ve ever read.

Esther and Robin have a beautiful baby girl together. But one day, Robin texts Esther the single word, “sorry”, and everything goes up in smoke.

Esther is a successful business woman who is climbing the professional ladder at a charity that helps those suffering from diabetes. Robin is an out of work comedian who has a drinking problem. The two of them seem like the oddest couple, but for some reason the two work, until Esther realizes she’s been lied to.

This book was full of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. But the good thing was that the twists were not so outlandish that it seemed completely unbelievable in the story.

I HATED Robin. He was so misogynistic despite being the “perfect father” for being a stay-at-home dad. He was so horrid to Esther after everything she had been through then had the nerve to blame her for their issues. I’m not sure if this was supposed to be a character you loved to hate but I honestly just wanted to ring his neck half the time. Esther deserved so much better.

The ending was also a little unsatisfying. We spent the entire book trying to unravel what Robin has done just for us to never understand why he did what he did. There were something that were tied up but I felt like we missed out on the bigger questions.

If I’m being completely honest this book was more of a 3.5 star read. It had everything to make a good thriller, and I devoured the book in a day and a half, but for some reason something about it just didn’t sit right with me. I don’t know if it was because my hatred for one of the characters was so strong or if I felt something was missing but I just didn’t love it like I wanted to.

A special thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read and give my honest review.

I was so excited to read more by this author and I was not disappointed at all! The story was bold and twisted. It draws you in and then drops bombs all along the way. Perfect story with likable characters.

I enjoyed the suspense of the novel as the chapters unfolded. I especially enjoyed how the novel was told from alternating POV's
I breezed through this thriller in one sitting its a short read so that was a plus!
I liked how the book keeps you engaged with the change in viewpoint in each chapter. I felt the pain that Esther went through with her pregnancy and the guilt of what she needed to do to survive
This thriller is great, keeps you guessing and that plot! Holy Cow!
A suspenseful, engaging, well written, tense psychological I enjoyed very much!

Thank you NetGalley, Mobius Books and Author. I'm now on the Kindle store about to buy her book Unfollow Me! LoL

☆☆☆☆1/2

This is my third book by Charlotte Duckworth, I have read and enjoyed everything she has written. The Perfect Father isn't a thriller in the usual sense, but boy was I thrilled to read it! The story is told in my favourite format...two points of view via husband and wife Robin and Esther AND two timelines, Now and Earlier. Both Robin and Esther were characters I loved to hate, I had no one to root for until the end...except the baby Riley.

This was without a doubt an emotional roller coaster. I had the hardest time putting it down. I was looking for something different and this book did not disappoint. Obviously the tragic feelings it invoked had me bummed...But for story purposes, I think that was the point. It is after all very psychological...Of all the theories that were running through my head, I never would have guessed one of the surprises and that’s why I loved this book.

There are actually two major twists in this story...one of them I had figured out but the other was an interesting surprise. I found the story to be skillfully blended and got caught up with the characters and story line. Would highly recommend this book for fans of psychological thrillers.

Have already read, review below!

This was an okay read, fast paced, with some good twists & turns, thrills, and shocks; but unfortunately, I felt it was a bit too unrealistic. I think it deterred from my enjoyment of the story, as I most enjoy the ones that could happen in real life. I find them to be the most chilling, because the realisticbess really thrills and chills me. Overall, if you don’t mind an unrealistic story, a bit unlikeable characters, then I do think you’ll enjoy this book, I would give it a 3-4 stars, but do recommend for those who like good twists!
