This second chapter in the book picks up right where the first one ended. Alyssa is devastated at the ruin of her new life and all her plans and the loss of her dearest friend. As she escapes Damien's lair and is rescued by the queen's guard and returned to the palace the queen has to decide whether to take a stand against Lord Damien for Alyssa.
Damien has fallen in love after his centuries of life. He is also willing to find the compromise that will allow him to keep Alyssa but at the same time give her the semblance of life she craves. As they move slowly towards a romantic relationship, speculation of Alyssa's origins has her teachers and Damien seeking answers.
I loved the cameo of the little boy who challenges Damian for Alyssa and survives to tell the tale. Dark Clouds however are gathering and soon Alyssa and Damien and all the people of Al Khair will have to face new challenges.
Since I read the final book in the trilogy as well I can say that I truly enjoyed how it all came together. A great trilogy and an unexpected new author to add to my favorites.

Loved reading the mesmerizing and spellbinding paranormal story. While Alyssa is trying to acclimate to her life in the Catacombs with Lord Damian, her feelings toward Damian are changing and her powers are increasing. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and riveting story engaging the reader from the first page of the story until the last page of the story and leaving the reader full of anticipation for the next book in the series.
I reviewed a copy of the book through NetGalley.
