This one took me a while to get in to but once I found my rhythm (about half way through) there was no stopping. Christy is sure there is something going on in her marriage and when she confronts her husband, Seb, he finally lets her know he is out of work and has interviewing. Even though they have a Christmas family vacation scheduled, she sends their daughter off with her best friend, Alix, and Seb's friend, Zach, to Lapland to Christy's aunt's home with plans to join them for Christmas. This gives Christy and Seb time together. This also leaves Alix and Zach time to find their way, after all they found their way before and have been at odds since. Christmas is a time to bring everyone together, not only family but friends. Especially Robyn who was Christy's mother's sister who was estranged and getting to know each other again is all they wanted. Take a chance on this one and curl up with this one.

When it comes to Romance and Christmas novels, Sarah Morgan never disappoints. Her stories are sweet and moving, but also fun and fresh. This is the kind of romance you can read at any given moment to connect with that sort of magic, the Christmas magic; no matter if it's June, October, or if it's indeed Christmas.

I really do enjoy anything by Sarah Morgan because I know it will be a story full of heart and emotion.

I kept going back and forth with The Christmas Escape because of the dual storylines and the constant emotional turmoil that the different couples were going through. The story was very well written with plenty of Christmas cheer to go along.

I would have liked some more logic to the story because often the women seemed to act purely on emotion. Plus, my pet peeve of writing was in this book. I don't love any storyline that exists purely because people don't talk to each other.

Every season I look forward to picking up a new Sarah Morgan women’s fiction novel for a few reasons. They’re always multi-layered stories about life at different stages. They show a warmth in relationships that are not always perfect but with work and some attention can flourish. They can still be romantic and satisfying with an HEA. And that’s exactly what THE CHRISTMAS ESCAPE delivers.

This story centers around Christy. Her life is carefully planned and pictured perfect on the outside. But the weight of keeping all that up can easily come crashing down when she suspects her husband is having an affair. Her friendship with one time best friend Alix is not as close as it used to be. And her perfectly planned Christmas vacation to visit an estranged aunt in Lapland may need to be re-evaluated.

If what you are looking for is a wintery Christmas vibe, this is the book for you. Part of it is set in Lapland and just the beautiful setting, the sledding, the Northern Lights, it had me itching to look up tickets and put this on my bucket list of places to visit. It added a magical element that fit perfectly with the season. But also highlighted the joy in the simple things. And that translated well into the relationships in this book. Romantic, family and friendships.

Christy and her husband ‘s troubled marriage grows as they learn to communicate and I was rooting for them the whole way. There is a secondary romance as well that is an enemies to lovers. I was so invested in their relationship and they definitely added a touch of spice to the story with their personalities and banter.

In the end, this is a feel good cozy holiday story.

I learned that Christmas novels are thing! Being burned and raised in the tropics (aka all year long summer weather) I honestly never yearned for cozy Christmas reads. This year though, was a different story! I wanted to cuddle up in my couch or bed and just read all the Christmas books and watch all the Christmas movies. This was an excellent escape (pun intended!) and I loved the scenery and the story! I’ll be checking more of this author!

Robyn lives in Lapland with Erik and for Christmas, her niece Christy will be visiting her together with her family. Christy is married to Seb and have a little girl Holly. She is suspicious of her hub and in order to stay back and travel with him to Lapland, she arrange for her best friend, Alix together with Seb’s friend Zac to take Holly to Lapland and both Christy and Seb will follow suit later.

This book tell the story of 3 different couples each with their own issues and intertwined with each other. It have mixture of complex relationship and had a lot going in the story. Each of the ladies has their own struggle and in the story, each of them found their key to their own happiness. There is a twist that I did not see coming but I love how the story ended.

“Dreams are never a mistake. Dreams are hope. Dreams give us a reason to get up in the morning. Dreams are optimism. They’re what keep us going when things feel impossibly tough. And you can always change the dream.”

After a whirlwind romance, unexpected pregnancy, and shot-gun wedding, Christy and Seb’s relationship has been stuck in a rut as they raise their “bold, inquisitive, and adventurous” pre-school daughter, Holly. Christy tries to create the perfect family life in the country through her endless lists and unwavering schedules. Part of this dream is Christmas in Lapland and a chance to meet her long lost aunt, Robyn, who her deceased mother completing banished from their lives. Included in this trip is Christy’s life long best friend Alix, who has shared every aspect of life with Christy until she voiced her concern for Seb right before the wedding. Before she could cause irreparable harm, Alix was whisked away by Zeb’s best friend, Zac, leading to something way more intimate than Alix and Zac were prepared for. While Alix truly thought she was doing the right thing, an unspoken crack continues to work its way through the rock solid friendship Christy and Alix have shared since childhood. When Christy and Seb’s marriage appears to be crumbling before her eyes right before Christmas, she makes a spur of the moment decision to ask Alix and Zac to take Holly to Lapland a head of them, providing time for the rediscovering of more than one relationship.

Sarah Morgan encapsulates so many aspects of life and relationships in one simple story. From perceptions regarding happiness and success cultivated by experiences as children, to the priorities and expectations set for those people who are closest, to the willingness to take chances on relationships and truly see what matter most to others, The Christmas Escape includes all of these aspects of life. And just like real life, the story is filled with many intertwining events, thoughts, and emotions that makes it evident that there is no black and white solution or good and bad character but flawed people with hopes and fears and baggage and misunderstandings who ultimately just want to be loved and cherished.

“Sometimes the best things that happen in life come from the unexpected.”

Like many contemporary UK authors, Sarah takes her time revealing and building her characters and their relationships with each other. There is no quick determination of where the story is going or judgement of the characters. But, the wait is so worth it as each of the issues are unpacked and all of the characters introspectively grow in their own way giving new life to a number of relationships. In the end it is truly a heartwarming story that gives the reader many thought provoking applications to their own life. While promoted as a holiday read, considering the story revolves around a long awaited trip to Lapland for Christmas, Sarah Morgan’s The Christmas Escape is more of a story of life, love, family, and friendship and is worth reading anytime of the year.
